Time for the presentation and Ben Duckett has been named player of the match for his first-innings 62 and, more importantly, a magnificent 149 in the chase.

Spare a thought for Rishabh Pant, who misses out despite hitting twin tons for India.

Is this the perfect win? Every batter getting runs. Every bowler getting wickets. Shown real fight and grit to come back repeatedly. And five full days of fantastic cricket for the fans.

The word that comes to mind for me is control. The quality of the batsmanship was superb. Duckett will get the credit but Crawley's role in that opening partnership as well was brilliant.

England have now won 12 of their 14 matches 'chasing' at home under Stokes and McCullum, with one draw (vs Australia, Old Trafford 2023) and one defeat (vs Australia, Lord's 2023).

Bazball has its critics but the fact that there was genuine belief among England supporters - and, clearly, the players - they could chase down 371 on a fifth day pitch to beat an India side with Jasprit Bumrah in their ranks, speaks volumes.

It doesn't always work out but there is no doubt this England regime have changed the way we view a big fourth-innings chase...

It did get a little nervy for England after they lost two wickets in two balls to go four down.

But never fear, Joe Root is here and the former skipper played another nerveless knock to take them to victory, finishing unbeaten on 53.

'He's taken Jadeja to the cleaners!' - Smith hits two sixes to wrap up England win

England have done it! Six more for Jamie Smith to complete another remarkable chase - their second-highest in Test history!

Incredible stuff from Ben Stokes' side. They made it all look so straightforward.

Ben Duckett scored a wonderous century, Zak Crawley made 65 in superb opening stand before Joe Root, with some assistance from Smith, guided the home side to the finish line.

After a stunning first Test, England go 1-0 up in this five-match series.

Jadeja is not bowling wide enough. He has not bowled particularly well this innings and hasn't put any pressure on England.

Lovely stuff, Chris. It's 102 50-plus knocks for Joe Root as well.

Meanwhile, we're into the last hour and Ravindra Jadeja will continue with the new ball.

Jasprit Bumrah is on the field but not bowling.

Joe Root has played a wonderfully composed knock today - but brings up his half-century with the streakiest shot he's played.

He chases a wide, swinging delivery from Mohammed Siraj, gets a thick outside edge and the ball flies wide of gully for four.

England need 16 more to win - so, cricket being cricket, they're stopping for a drink.
