  1. Eng 275-4published at 60.3 overs

    Target 371

We've been told that the scheduled close of play is now 18:31 BST but it makes very little difference.

If the weather and the light hold, they will be out there until 90 overs have been bowled in the day.

  2. Eng 275-4published at 60 overs

    Target 371

No problems for Ben Stokes in that over from Jadeja.

He reverse sweeps the only ball he faces out to deep backward point for one.

Joe Root pushed another single to point just prior to that.

And now it's Jasprit Bumrah time...

Ben Stokes has looked a bit twitchy against the left-armer, Jadeja. He hasn't looked settled at all. You get the feeling something may happen.

A bit of composure now and we’re in a great spot. We’d have taken this at the end of India’s first innings. I’m glued to this game.

Ravindra Jadeja will continue from the other end and the left-arm spinner was starting to find some turn and bounce before the break.

  6. Eng 273-4published at 59 overs

    Target 371

Firm drive from Ben Stokes from the first ball after the resumption but Shardul Thakur gets down to stop it. No run.

He leaves the next before getting a thick edge to bobble between slip and gully for four.

The required runs are down to double figures.

  7. Eng 269-4published at 58.3 overs

    Target 371

The sun is shining the players are back out and Shardul Thakur is ready to bowl the last three balls of the over he started before tea.

Ben Stokes is on strike, Joe Root is at the other end and England need another 102 runs to win.

Not having anything from the Bazball naysayers! We need 102 at less than 3 an over and have the best batsman in the world and the best clutch player in the world at the crease! Bazball got us here!

Excellent news from Headingley and I can now see the India fielders congregating on the boundary edge.

It looks like this brilliant Test is going to get the conclusion it deserves.

Ben Duckett was eventually dismissed for 149 and when Harry Brook was caught behind down the leg side next ball, India sensed an opportunity.

Joe Root and Ben Stokes kept them at bay until that little downpour arrived but England still have work to do if they are to complete what would be a remarkable win...

That was a special innings from Ben Duckett. We have seen some special innings here at Headingley and that is one of them.

Umbrellas are starting to come down now, which bodes well for a fairly swift resumption.

While we wait, though, let's look back on what was a magnificent century from Ben Duckett.

The rain came down as heavily as it has all day a few moments ago but it is already brighter now. We’ve still only got half of the covers in place rather than the full sheets.

  15. Postpublished at 16:36 British Summer Time

Speaking of the weather, the rain is still falling at Headingley.

The covers are firmly in place and the sheeting has been put out to cover the bowlers' run-ups.

    Not ideal.

    The simple facts are these.

England need 102 more runs to win. India need another six wickets.

There are 37.3 overs left in the day and - weather/ light permitting - they will be bowled come what may.

    Thanks, Mike.

England still very much favourites, according to WinViz. No doubt if you'd offered home fans this position at the start of the day, they'd have taken it.

But the way things have unfolded means it does feel that much nervier than it might.

Well, England still favourites you'd say, but India's confidence will have taken a boost after the two Thakur wickets.

We've had a really changeable afternoon at Headingley - flurries of drizzle, including some they've played through, and some patches of bright sunshine.

I'm going to pass you over to Sam Drury for the tea break and, hopefully, the next passage of play.

  19. Tea - Eng 269-4published at 58.3 overs

    Target 371; Root 14, Stokes 13

    We're going off again.

The umpires were in conference at the beginning of Shardul Thakur's over and they've taken the players off mid-way through it, with some drizzle passing over the ground.

Tea had been rescheduled to 16:30 BST after the rain delay earlier in the session. We weren't too far off that so they'll take the break now.

  20. Eng 266-4published at 58 overs

Ben Stokes gets two off the final ball of Shardul Thakur's last delivery with, you guessed it, a reverse sweep.

The ball absolutely flew to the deep fielder.
