I can't think of many batters who have timed the ball well on any of these New York surfaces.

  3. USA 17-2published at 5 overs

    How did that miss?

Jasprit Bumrah gets one to nip in sharply off the seam and flash past Aaron Jones' inside edge, over the stumps and through to the wicketkeeper.

Oohs and ahhs from the crowd.

It's India's best bowler against USA's best batter. I hope Aaron Jones tries to take him on.

It's the battle we've been waiting for.

He can't seem to stop hitting sixes and he didn't get all of that at all!

Six very valuable runs. USA will want a few more of those from Aaron Jones.

  9. 6 runs

    USA 16-2published at 4 overs

And that is why! Aaron Jones comes to the party with a pull shot over fine leg for six.

He didn't quite time the shot, it was more of a top-edge, but Jones got enough power behind it to get the ball over the rope.

There is a lot of expectation on Aaron Jones here.

He's been the USA's best batter of the tournament so far but he has the added pressure of being captain today.

The fans are still filtering into the stadium behind the stands. I don't think it will quite be at capacity but the attendance could be the second biggest of the tournament at this ground.

Just bumped into Kunal and his son Viaan from Boston who are watching their first game of the tournament today. Young Viaan has already set his sights on a career in the game.

"I bowl left arm," he tells me enthusiastically. "It's my dream to play cricket for the United States national team one day."

This is the first wicket to fall with the opening delivery of the match. An absolute beauty.

  13. USA 8-2published at 3 overs

Arshdeep Singh continues to probe away at these USA batters. He bowls a little wider to fellow left-armer Steven Taylor and tempts him into a wild play and miss outside off stump.

Just the single off the over.

I'm not sure we'll get a sell-out but it's going to be close. I've never seen a buzz like this for a game of cricket in the USA before.

It's going to be an incredible occasion.

The atmosphere is electric here. Much of the crowd will have divided loyalties.

  16. USA 7-2published at 2 overs

Relief for the USA as they begin the rebuild. Just a couple of singles and a two off a Ravindra Jadeja misfield in Mohammed Siraj's first over.

Arshdeep will continue at the other end...

Before this game United States had scored 61.2% of their 356 runs so far in boundaries (17 sixes and 29 fours) - only Australia have found the fence more often in the T20 World Cup.

However, they played both of those games in Texas, which is a lot smaller than the ground here in New York.

It's looking a bit more tricky for them at the moment.

  19. USA 3-2published at 1 over

Stand-in skipper Aaron Jones is the new batter. He is second top-scorer in the tournament so far.

USA need something special from him now if they are to get out of the hole the currently find themselves in.

An awful shot, really poor decision-making when you're facing a world-class bowler. It wasn't there to hit down the ground.
