The shot was on, it was there to hit and he's clattered it.

I thought it was going over Siraj's head but he times the jump and the landing absolutely perfectly.

Timed to perfection! That is one of the best catches we've seen, just marvellous from Siraj.

    Great awareness in the outfield.

I do feel for Nitish Kumar because he connected well, he was batting so nicely.

  3. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 14.4 overs

    Nitish c Siraj b Arshdeep 27 (USA 81-5)

    What a catch!

Nitish Kumar must have thought it was six all the way as he powers a pull shot off the front foot towards the midwicket boundary. But Mohammed Siraj times his jump perfectly to catch with two hands and hold onto the ball as his back thumps into the turf.

Pure brilliance from Siraj and the impressive Nitish has to go.

It's the best way for him to go. He's got to take calculated risks as he did there.

    And there he goes!

    Clean as a whistle.

    Liam Plunkett called it.

Corey Anderson steps back to give himself some room and marmalises the ball over mid-wicket for six.

    USA are stepping things up.

The pitch is actually looking a lot better than previously. It doesn't have any demons in it.

Corey Anderson is a smart cricketer but he's built like a rugby player and if he attacks, it can go miles.

Nitish Kumar has been the one USA batter to bat with intent along with a calm head and a lovely technique.

  9. USA 71-4published at 13 overs

    He's at it again!

Nitish Kumar is showing his team-mates how it is done as he seizes on an over-pitched ball from Hardik Pandya and plays a brilliant straight drive down the ground for four.

  10. 6 runs

    USA 67-4published at 12.3 overs

Glorious! Shot of the day from Nitish Kumar as he dispatches Hardik Pandya back over his head and into the stands.

That had everything - timing, technique and power.

It'll be interesting to see how Corey Anderson plays. We know he can be destructive but I haven't seen him bat for years.

Corey Anderson, a former New Zealand international, is the next batter with the USA back on the ropes.

    Liam Plunkett
Former England bowler on BBC Sounds

There's not a lot of turn but it was too full to try and play that to, he was trying to open his wrists and whip it.

He's such a strong player hitting down the ground, that was probably the way he should've kept going.

A disappointing time for him to get out.

Ah, what a shame. Taylor was caught in two minds about how to play that, it's a horrible way to get out.

Axar Patel went fuller and flatter after getting pumped down the ground.

  15. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 11.4 overs

    Taylor b Axar 24 (USA 56-4)

And Steven Taylor plays on next ball!

Taylor strides forward and looks to cut the ball into the off-side, but he can only under-edge into the ground and the ball trundles back onto the stumps.

Taylor goes just as he was starting to get going.

  16. 6 runs

    USA 56-3published at 11.3 overs

    What a shot.

Axar Patel tosses one up and Steven Taylor gleefully accepts the invitation, hammering it dead straight for six.

Great piece of fielding from Suryakumar Yadav. Every run on this pitch is crucial.

  18. USA 48-3published at 11 overs

    Taylor 16, Nitish 13

That's a really good shot from Nitish Kumar, as he backs away and plays a lofted straight drive over the bowler's head that would have brought four but for some fine fielding from Suryakumar Yadav, who makes a diving stop on the rope.

USA are navigating a tricky period but against India, that tricky period can last 20 overs!

But it's a free hit for them, even if they lose here they're still in it. I don't think they'll be panicking.

  20. USA 42-3published at 10 overs

Finally time for some spin as left-armer Axar Patel comes into the attack, with USA nudging five singles.

That brings us to the halfway point and India are continuing to suffocate the USA batters.

This has been a low-scoring ground but you'd think USA need to get at least three figures to make this a contest.
