    Glamorgan 183 & 294-7 v Middlesex 343

Tom Helm gets the ball to rear up at Mason Crane, who spoons it away on the leg side but into space and that gets him off the mark with a single.

Glamorgan will resume in the morning with a lead of 134 and just three wickets intact.

  5. wicket

WICKET: Harris c du Plooy b Helm 6published at 19:19 British Summer Time 19 May

    Glamorgan 183 & 293-7 v Middlesex 343

Tom Helm strikes again for Middlesex!

The seamer has his third wicket - and his seventh of the match now - as he angles the ball across James Harris, who can only steer it into the hands of second slip.

Mason Crane is the new man in for Glamorgan, with the lead now 133.

  6. 'Middlesex seam attack has been accurate'published at 19:18 British Summer Time 19 May

    Glamorgan 183 & 289-6 v Middlesex 343

    Gareth Griffiths
    BBC Sport Wales

He's tolled away all day, Ethan Bamber.

The Middlesex seam attack has been accurate today, it's kept them in it.

  7. Postpublished at 19:15 British Summer Time 19 May

    Glamorgan 183 & 289-6 v Middlesex 343

It's mostly about survival for Glamorgan in these three remaining overs tonight, but every run they can add could be precious and Zain ul Hassan collects four of them by clipping Ethan Bamber to the fence at deep square leg.

He's on 11, with James Harris on two and Glamorgan lead by 129.

  8. 'Somerset establish themselves as warm favourites in last hour'published at 19:10 British Summer Time 19 May

    Close: Somerset 554 v Kent 178 & 409-5 f/o

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

What a last hour it has been for Somerset picking up those four late wickets which has transformed the complexion of this game having removed Ben Compton earlier on lbw to Matt Renshaw.

What looked as if what might have looked like a Kent fightback to deny Somerset victory, the last hour has seen Somerset come roaring back and establish themselves as warm favourites to pick up the five wickets that they need tomorrow to secure their second County Championship victory of the season.

It's been a long day of cricket but a fascinating day of cricket with the highlight being that magnificent 238 from Zak Crawley.

  9. wicket

WICKET: Ingram c Hollman b Helm 105published at 19:07 British Summer Time 19 May

    Glamorgan 183 & 283-6 v Middlesex 343

And the new ball pays dividends for Middlesex!

That's a huge wicket as Tom Helm tempts Colin Ingram to drive and the ball flies to backward point, where Luke Hollman pouches it safely.

James Harris is the new man in for Glamorgan - someone who played countless battling knocks during his time as a Middlesex player. He'll need to apply that same grit against them now.

  10. Close of play at Tauntonpublished at 19:03 British Summer Time 19 May

    Somerset 554 v Kent 178 & 409-5 f/o

Three slips in for Joe Denly, who is able to leave the first ball.

He drives the second ball through wide mid off for one.

Five slips now! Nathan Gilchrist defends down the pitch.

Bowled him! Terrific ball from Migael Pretorius who snares two wickets late in the day.

Full, straight, beating the defensive jab and hitting the top of off stump.

Gilchrist departs four balls into the final over for eight and that's stumps.

Somerset end with a boost after a tough day in the field that has seen Kent plunder north of 400 runs following on.

The lead however is still only a slender 33 and the hosts still hold the advantage, particularly with early wickets in the morning.

The day really belongs to Zak Crawley however, who stroked a superb 238.

  11. 'A day of a lot of runs and wickets'published at 19:01 British Summer Time 19 May

    Somerset 554 v Kent 178 & 409-4 f/o

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

We've seen a lot of runs and quite a lot of wickets as well on a day of almost unbroken sunshine.

  12. new ball

New ball at Cardiffpublished at 19:01 British Summer Time 19 May

    Glamorgan 183 & 277-5 v Middlesex 343

The shadows may be lengthening now, but we still have time for six overs on a new ball.

No great surprise that Middlesex are keen to make use of that new cherry - they'd love to prise out another Glamorgan wicket or two this evening.

Colin Ingram is 105 not out, with Zain ul Hassan on five.

  13. Postpublished at 18:57 British Summer Time 19 May

    Somerset 554 v Kent 178 & 408-4 f/o

Joe Denly gets a single off Craig Overton.

Four slips and a bat pad in for Nathan Gilchrist.

The third ball is smashed off the face of the bat through the hands of Tom Banton at short leg for four.

He leaves the last ball outside off and we have one over left tonight.

  14. Postpublished at 18:53 British Summer Time 19 May

    Somerset 554 v Kent 178 & 403-4 f/o

Migael Pretorius hits the deck hard to test the defence of Nathan Gilchrist.

A wild leg side ball is brilliantly taken on the bounce one-handed by keeper James Rew.

The next ball is full and gently pushed to long on for four!

That's the Kent 400 in the 84tth over.

    Two overs left tonight.

  15. 100 for Colin Ingrampublished at 18:50 British Summer Time 19 May

    Glamorgan 183 & 267-5 v Middlesex 343

Colin Ingram (Glamorgan)Image source, Rex Features

A fourth hundred of the season for Colin Ingram, crunching Toby Roland-Jones to the boundary to get there from exactly 150 balls.

Two of those centuries have come against Middlesex - the first being somewhat overshadowed when Glamorgan skipper Sam Northeast amassed 335 at Lord's in April.

  16. wicket

WICKET Crawley c Rew b Pretorius 238published at 18:49 British Summer Time 19 May

    Somerset 554 v Kent 178 & 399-4 f/o

A magnificent innings which has given Kent a sniff at a draw is over.

Kent lead by just 23 but that's a mountain already climbed to get that far.

Zak Crawley departs with his highest ever score for Kent under his belt- aiming a loose drive through cover anchored to the crease and edging to keeper James Rew.

That's a first wicket of the innings for Migael Pretorius.

Nathan Gilchrist is in as night watchman.

  17. Postpublished at 18:47 British Summer Time 19 May

    Somerset 554 v Kent 178 & 399-3 f/o

Joe Denly is able to leave Craig Overton outside off but the fourth ball is straighter and he defends down the pitch.

    Maiden over.

  18. Postpublished at 18:43 British Summer Time 19 May

    Somerset 554 v Kent 178 & 399-3 f/o

Joe Denly picks up his first boundary with a smooth drive through wide mid off facing Craig Overton.

The lead goes to 17 as the prospect of a draw starts to loom a little larger.

Zak Crawley gets a single off Migael Pretorius at the other end to advance to 238. He may yet get a chance to pass his record of 267 if he can see out these last five overs.

A tired leg side delivery swings well past the bat for four leg byes.

Joe Denly gets a single and Crawley blocks out the over.

  19. wicket

WICKET: Cooke lbw b Roland-Jones 4published at 18:43 British Summer Time 19 May

    Glamorgan 183 & 258-5 v Middlesex 343

Middlesex hopes are raised again at Cardiff as Glamorgan lose their fifth wicket, with Chris Cooke adjudged leg before to Toby Roland-Jones.

That leaves the home side 98 runs ahead, but they've now lost half of their second-innings wickets.

  20. Close of play at Derbypublished at 18:40 British Summer Time 19 May

    Derbyshire 362 v Northants 422 & 195-2

No further runs scored at Derby tonight, so Northamptonshire's Emilio Gay will return in the morning 11 short of a century, alongside Karun Nair who has 37.

Northamptonshire hold a 255-run advantage over Derbyshire, so you'd think they'll look to accelerate in the morning and set up some kind of run chase.
