Sri Lanka have a big reliance on Chamari Athapaththu with the bat. She hasn't scored any runs in this tournament.

They haven't bowled terribly. It was an interesting tactic to go so go heavy on the spin early doors, but they didnt change it up much with any seams.

  3. Sri Lanka crumble...published at 18:46 British Summer Time 9 October

Sri Lanka's innings never got going and after slumping to 6-3, including the loss of key batter and skipper Chamari Athapaththu, they never recovered.

Arundhati Reddy and Asha Sobhana both claimed 3-19 as they did the majority of the damage for India with Sri Lanka dismissed for 90 all out.

It was India's biggest victory margin in a World Cup match.

  4. Kaur stars as India go big...published at 18:41 British Summer Time 9 October

    A quick recap then.

India hit the highest total of the World Cup so far as they whacked 172-3 from their 20 overs.

Openers Shafali Verma (43) and Smriti Mandhan (50) got India off to a flyer before they fell in successive balls.

However, Harmanpreet Kaur's blistering unbeaten 52 off 27 balls continued the attacking momentum.

India will have regained a lot of confidence in the way they thrashed the Asia Cup champions.

Sri Lanka only a few months ago beat India in the Asia Cup final. There was some wounds of recent times against this side, but India were outstanding.

India will take a lot of momentum into that game against Australia. We watched Australia last night and we were in awe of how fit and strong they are.

Australia are a well-oiled unit, but India looked like a well-oiled unit today.

Sri Lanka, of course, are out.

India will have one eye on the semi-final having given their run-rate a bit of a shot in the arm.

  7. 'Have to bounce back'published at 18:35 British Summer Time 9 October

Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu: "We struggling even with the bowling and dropped a few catches, and the bowlers not bowling the right length. The batters did not do the job, including myself.

"When the top order gets out like that it's hard to chase this kind of score. We have to bounce back now and see how we do that.

"The first game is important in a tournament and we lost that to Pakistan. After that match I feel the dressing room and the players were down so I tried to lift them up before unfortunately it was followed by back-to-back losses. It happens in cricket.

"We have to play our best cricket in our last game against New Zealand. I thought we bowled okay in our first two games but not today. We need to improve our batting and fielding in the next game."

  8. 'Kaur batted really well'published at 18:30 British Summer Time 9 October

Harmanpreet Kaur has not got off to flyer in this tournament.

We were critical in the last game as we felt like she could have put her foot down.

Today Kaur showed what a powerful hitter she is - she batted really well.

Here's the winning moment for India.

  10. 'Hard wickets to bat on'published at 18:28 British Summer Time 9 October

More from India captain Harmanpreet Kaur on her own innings of 52* from 27 balls: "It was one of the days when I was in my zone and just wanted to be there for the team, keep rotating the strike and if it was there to be hit I went for it.

"I think the entire team played very good cricket. These wickets are not easy for batting. You have to be there and rotate the strike and only when the ball is in your zone you can go for it.

"You cannot keep swinging you bat and hoping the ball will come on to it. You have to keep trusting yourself and stay there for a long time. We did that and were there for our team."

  11. 'India's batting was entertaining'published at 18:26 British Summer Time 9 October

Not the greatest game for the neutral, but what I would say India's batting was very entertaining.

Harmanpreet Kaur came out and started slowly, but then she got the humongous sweeps out.

    They scored freely India.

  12. 'We just went with the flow'published at 18:24 British Summer Time 9 October

India captain, and player of the match, Harmanpreet Kaur: "We just wanted to go with the momentum while batting. Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana gave us a very good start and we said there was no point in throwing our wickets away. Credit goes to them because they were calculating.

"After losing two back-to-back wickets I was just thinking about how we get can seven or eight run per over and we just went with the flow."

A huge win for India. All the bowlers chipped in with wickets.

The fielding of the Indian side was electric - it seemed better with their attitude.

They took some stick after their first couple of games, but they have turned it around today.

  14. 'What a victory that is for India'published at 18:18 British Summer Time 9 October

Udeshika Prabodhani looks to end the match with a bit of flourish, skipping down the pitch to Deepti Sharma.

Nowhere near the distance needed on it, however, and Smriti Mandhana ambles round from mid-off to take a neat catch on the move.

India's fielding has been bang on this evening.

It was a good hit from Ama Kanchana, but there wasn't enough on it.

Radha Yadav was not going to drop that one. She's been so good under those high balls.

India just need one more wicket!

Substitute fielder Radha Yadav must be the safest pair of hands in the United Arab Emirates.

There's been a lot of drops in this World Cup but Yadav is not having any problems whatsover.

A slog sweep from Ama Kanchana goes high towards midwicke where Yadav takes a steepling catch just in front of the rope.

Arundhati Reddy's third wicket of the match and seventh of the World Cup so far.
