  1. Eng 13-1published at 2 overs

In early and Ollie Pope is off the mark with a boundary first ball.

Too straight from Mohammed Siraj and Pope whips it away through backward square leg.

The England number three then opens the face to guide the last ball of the over to deep third for four more.

  2. Revised playing timespublished at 15:04 British Summer Time

After the rain delay, we've got revised playing times. It means England have another hour and 50 minutes to get to tea.

    Tea - 16:50 - 17:10

    Evening session - 17:10 - 18:43

Bumrah strikes! We were wondering if Zak Crawley could survive the first over. And he couldn't.

That one doesn't get through. Here we go...

Superb ball from Jasprit Bumrah that pitches in line with the stumps and just shapes away as Zak Crawley tries to work it to leg.

Edge found and Karun Nair takes a good catch at first slip. The start India wanted and England feared.

A good ball but Zak Crawley is trying to play close to the body, which is good. That's why his edge didn't carry.

  6. Eng 4-0published at 0.4 overs

England are off the mark as Zak Crawley guides the ball down to the boundary at deep third...

Well, it was an outside edge that dropped short of the slips and got through but it's four runs all the same.

The previous ball was a jaffa that snaked just past the outside edge.

So much theatre comes with Jasprit Bumrah bowling out in the field. It is an unconventional run-up and delivery. So unique.

  8. Eng 0-0published at 0.1 overs

Big anticipation before the first ball from Jasprit Bumrah... but no worries for Zak Crawley with that one.

Wide of off and the England opener withdraws his bat. Greater challenges to come but almost nice to survive that first ball.

England in these conditions with an excellent Indian attack will be lucky to get to 100

The India players are out there and here come Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley.

Overcast conditions, floodlights on, moisture in the air and Jasprit Bumrah at the top of his mark.

This is going to be a big challenge for the England openers.

The fourth umpire has just walked off the pitch quite purposefully so hopefully that means we are raring to go.

Still not great news for England, Oscar, I've got to say.

I also think Jasprit Bumrah wouldn't mind the ball skidding on too much either...

Bumrah may be dangerous in these conditions but I think if delays continue the pitch could skid more and favour other bowlers

Fast bowler Jofra Archer is in Sussex's squad to play Durham in the County Championship on Sunday, putting him in line for a long-awaited return to red-ball cricket.

Archer, 30, has not played a first-class match for more than four years after a series of injuries, most notably to his right elbow and back.

He has returned to the international fold in white-ball cricket but an appearance in the Division One fixture at Chester-le-Street would be a significant step, which England hope will lead to him playing Test cricket this year.

England selector Luke Wright said earlier this month that if Archer comes through the four days for Sussex he could be available for the second Test against India, which starts on 2 July at Edgbaston.

The pictures we're seeing suggests it is as dark over Headingley as it has been all day but, evidently, the rain has stopped.

The plastic sheeting covering the run-ups has been removed. The main covers remain in place, though.
