  1. Eng 56-1published at 11 overs

A couple of plays and misses from Ben Duckett in the Mohammed Siraj over.

The England batter has to be careful, neither were particularly clever shots.

It might not be Jasprit Bumrah but Duckett still has to have his wits about him in these conditions.

To borrow a phrase from Sir Alex, when Bumrah comes into bowl, all England players are nervous - ‘it’s squeaky Bumrah time’.

Jasprit Bumrah's spell is over. Mohammed Siraj is back on after a change of ends.

He's got hold of that one! The fielder at mid-wicket just watched it sail over his head.

  5. Eng 54-1published at 10 overs

    Pope 22, Duckett 27

Banged in from Prasidh Krishna and Ben Duckett rocks back to pull it over mid-wicket.

One bounce for four to bring up the fifty partnership.

This is fascinating cricket. Edge of the seat stuff and Pope looks well set at the moment.

Batsman nicks off the best bowler in the world in perfect bowling conditions - England fans: “He can’t play, drop him!”

    Freddie in Oxford

Bumrah's first class, and that was a first class delivery. To suggest off the evidence of 3 half-centuries that Bethell would have done any better is utter nonsense. Zak deserves another shot at putting those three aging antipodeans to the sword, in my opinion.

    Russell, Portugal

Appreciate Crawley is under pressure but that was a jaffer from one of the best around. Loved what I saw from Bethell in NZ but if you’ve played the game, you know the biggest difference in batting positions is between opening and 3. Steve Smith, a modern great couldn’t even hack the change last year.

If the ball is there to hit, Ben Duckett is going to hit it. He has turned into some player, right up there for me.

A bit of width and Ben Duckett nails a ball on the up from Jasprit Bumrah through the covers for four. Top shot.

That's the end of Bumrah's fifth over. The end of his first spell as well perhaps?

Bumrah's first half a dozen steps to the crease aren't even runs. He bowls 90mph off about four paces.

  11. Eng 41-1published at 8.1 overs

A leave from Ben Duckett! Such a rarity.

90mph and swinging away just outside off from Jasprit Bumrah. Probably a good one to leave alone!

Re Paul 15:24, surely Pant is boxer-short office?

If Pant is box office, Bumrah is Royal Box

    Bumrah is blockbuster.

  13. Eng 41-1published at 8 overs

Very odd shot from Ben Duckett.

He doesn't like to leave the ball but in trying to avoid doing so, he ends up attempting an odd waft at a rising delivery from Prasidh Krishna.

Steady start from the big seamer, just two singles from it.

Prasidh Krishna's height will be a factor. He needs to hit the good length spot more often. He has been bowling well and working on his red ball so that experience will help him.

His first few overs will decide whether England have put pressure on him.

First change of bowling for India and Prasidh Krishna is on to replace Mohammed Siraj.

Ravindra Jadeja doesn't drop too many. That is a big break for Ben Duckett.

    Eng 39-1

What a let off for Ben Duckett.

The England left-hander tries to force the ball away behind square on the off side but it was slightly too close to him from Jasprit Bumrah.

It goes at a good height to backward point where Ravindra Jadeja, of all people, puts it down.

You do not see Jadeja drop many!

England are moving pretty briskly now. They have been quite risky, but they are there that's the important thing.

Ollie Pope is not missing any opportunity today to score runs today. This was slightly fuller and he timed it really well through mid-on.

  20. Eng 39-1published at 6 overs

    Brilliant shot.

Full and angling in on a middle and leg line from Mohammed Siraj, and Ollie Pope middles it through mid-wicket for four.

Something of the sublime to the ridiculous, though, as the England batter chases an extremely wide delivery to end the over. He can be very thankful he didn't get a tickle on that.
