  1. 'I had goosebumps for him'published at 19:41 British Summer Time 21 June

More from Ben Duckett, speaking to Sky Sports, on Ollie Pope's century: "I had goosebumps for him. He's such a good bloke and I love batting with him. You go one down early and he comes in and scores a run-a-ball 50. He takes all the pressure off you, he scores quick. He's such a legend and a big part of this team.

"We know there is noise outside of the dressing room but to go and score 170 followed up by a hundred against this attack, there's no better response.

"He's a run-scorer. He does get in and he gets hundreds. At three, against India, someone like Pope - it's a no-brainer. He did it away as well with that ridiculous hundred when we won. He is a match-winner and it's a great start from him."

  2. 'You have to find ways to score at the other end'published at 19:40 British Summer Time 21 June

England opener Ben Duckett, speaking to Sky Sports, about the atmosphere in the dressing during the last over: "Good now! It's a hell of an over. Watching Jasprit do his thing, he's very good to watch. But Brooky comes off not out so happy days.

"I think a very good day. It could have been a lot worse. We took 7-41, on another day they're scoring 600-plus.

"Jasprit running down the hill with the lights on, it wasn't easy against that new ball. So to be where we are, we'd definitely take the day we've had. It's about trying to win that first session tomorrow."

On conditions compared to day one: "It's the game we play. Blue skies all day yesterday then those [gloomy] conditions and the ball is swinging around more. Pitch was still good but felt like there were a couple more balls in there today."

On approach to his innings: "I didn't feel overly fluent at the start but it was trying to play the ball as late as I can. Got a bit of luck with the dropped catch and anything short I was looking to pounce on.

"I was trying to keep it simple, we knew there would be scoring options and it's very quick here the outfield.

"I'd done the hard work, tried to play Jasprit as late as I could and the wicket was the one time I got out ahead of myself."

On partnership with Ollie Pope: "Me and Popey spoke a lot. When you field for 120 overs or whatever we did, it' big to really trying and keep each other going. Legs can be tired.

"That was the one bad shot I played. That's the game. But it's been a pretty good day."

On staying concentrated again bowlers other than Bumrah: "It's that fine balance. Looking to be positive. When some is bowling as well as he is then you've got to find ways to score at the other end and put them under pressure.

"But Siraj bowled that spell down the hill after Bumrah where I played and missed a lot. It's Test cricket, there's no easy let off but certainly was trying to be more positive at the other end."

On state of the game: "It's about trying to win each session. The first session is the biggest in the whole game. If we win that and keep chipping away at the target, we'll be in a good position."

Here are the two key moments from the last couple of overs of Jasprit Bumrah.

The India seamer had Joe Root caught in the slips and, but for an overstep, would have also dismissed Harry Brook.

  4. 'We are really in this game'published at 19:37 British Summer Time 21 June

England opener Ben Duckett: "We couldn't have done much more with the ball today. They could have got 600 plus so to bowl them out for under 500 we are pleased. We are in a good spot and if we win the first session tomorrow we are really in this game.

On Jasprit Bumrah: "Going out there against the best bowler in the world, it wasn't easy at times. He is world class. It is hard as an opener as he bowls so many different balls. I tried to play as late as I could but it is tricky. I enjoy that challenge, and getting through the new ball gives you good confidence.

"I feel like I am at the top of my game but I wouldn't say I am near the best in the world. There is no dressing room I would rather be a part of and these are the best years of my life.

On Ollie Pope: "I had goosebumps when he got his 100. He is such a big part of the dressing room. He didn't need to do that but to go and do it, I take my hat off to him. I can't wait to give him a hug.

On England's position: "When a side get 471, the first innings is so important. We are in the game and this is a fast scoring ground. We need the first session tomorrow."

Mr Feast or Famine strikes again. Great knock by Pope. But we should expect him to average about 18 for the rest of the series.

Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Joe Root with a ball that pitched on a length of 7.7m and 0.70m outside off stump. It was the shortest and second widest delivery he bowled to Root today.

Ex-England captain on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

It was a horrible time to come in and bat but the way Ollie Pope played Bumrah was with such control. He has looked far less frenetic recently and India need to look at how to bowl against him.

He has come out against the best bowler in the world and scored 100. Terrific.

And if it was England's day, Ollie Pope was the star.

He finishes the day unbeaten on 100, having come in during the first over of England's innings.

Here's a few best ofs, including surviving a dropped chance.

It has been a really good day for England. There is so much spirit in this side under Ben Stokes. They found a way with the ball and then saw off a tremendous spell from Bumrah.

Excellent from them today. If they can keep Bumrah quiet, they win the series.

    Well then.

England's day, although losing Joe Root to the rampant Jasprit Bumrah towards the close is a blow.

Bumrah took all three of India's wickets, conceding 48 runs, while not getting masses of support from his colleagues - Prasidh Krishna (0-56 off 10) and Shardul Thakur (0-23 off three) were both expensive.

  13. Close of play - Eng 209-3published at 49 overs

Bumrah hits the classics to finish, making Brook dig out a yorker and then sending down a couple of bouncers - the second of makes Brook to leap out of the way as the ball whistles past his neck.

That, finally, is the close of play.

Harry Brook a very lucky boy - awful shot three balls from the close.

There will be some discussions about that, but Bumrah can only blame himself for that one.

That is horrendous from Harry Brook. He is very, very lucky.

    Eng 209-3

    Hearts. In. Mouths.

Harry Brook attempts a big pull shot that really doesn't need to be played and the catch is taken at mid-wicket... but Bumrah's overstepped!

That's the third time Bumrah's overstepped in this over already, curious.

England are probably glad Bumrah is planned to play 3 Tests.

Just when things were looking good for England… Bumrah really is one of a kind - unstoppable

Even if the rest of the India bowlers can't be as penetrative as Bumrah, they need to learn how to contain the batters. The support cast is going to have to function.
