  1. Eng 89-1published at 18 overs

Three singles from the over and not much in the way of turn for Ravindra Jadeja.

Changes of pace will be the thing England to to be careful of from the left-arm spinner.

It is looking considerably brighter at Headingley than it was when this innings began, both literally and for England's hopes in the match.

Well seen through by this partnership. Despite the talk around Pope, could easily see this top 6 being there for the Ashes.

India are covering too many bases here. The bowlers are not doing either all full or short stuff and then there are too many gaps in the field.

It needs to be simple and a plan needs to be put in place.

  4. Eng 86-1published at 17 overs

    Trail by 385

Ollie Pope calmly dabs the last ball of Mohammed Siraj's over down to deep third for two as England take five from the over.

The partnership is up to 82 and India turn to spin. Ravindra Jadeja, who dropped Ben Duckett on 15, is coming on to bowl.

  5. Eng 82-1published at 16 overs

    Pope 35, Duckett 42

Krishna does go fuller but it's a wide half-volley. Ben Duckett won't miss out on that.

Dismissively driven through the covers for four more.

Krishna just can't get his length. It's too short for this pitch here. It may be time for a look at Shardul Thakur.

He's bowling the kind of spell that makes the captain fall out with you.

  7. Eng 78-1published at 15.3 overs

Too short from Prasidh Krishna and Ben Duckett hammers the ball over mid-wicket for four.

The England opener will be happy to see deliveries like that all day.

  8. Eng 72-1published at 15 overs

Another lbw appeal to end the over but this time the ball is clearly sliding down leg.

No wicket but that is a much better over from Mohammed Siraj, really keeping Ollie Pope honest.

  9. Not outpublished at 14.5 overs

    Eng 72-1

Ollie Pope is a lucky boy. That really was close.

No bat involved, impact in line... and umpire's call on hitting the wicket.

Flicking the top of middle, says ball-tracking. India keep their review.

This is close but it's whether he got an inside edge on it. Siraj is convinced.

  11. India reviewpublished at 14.5 overs

    Eng 72-1

This looks close. India call for another review after Mohhamed Siraj hits Ollie Pope in front.

    This will be tight.

  12. How stat?!published at 16:09 British Summer Time

    Ashwanth R Kavuluri
    Cricviz analyst

Ben Duckett is currently batting with a 33% false shots this innings—the highest he’s ever recorded in a Test innings where he has faced 45 or more balls.

  13. Eng 71-1published at 14 overs

There are still a couple of slips and a gully for Prasidh Krishna but very few fielders in the ring.

They've mostly been moved out to the boundary, presumably to try and slow England's scoring rate.

As a result, the home side take four from the over, all in singles.

Jamie Overton is on delivering drinks, quickly turns around and starts to run off but thuds straight into the overhead camera.

    Ouch.

Another misfield from Gill. Perhaps being captain makes you a little bit distracted.

At the moment, there are dark skies all around the ground here at Headingly.

  16. drinks break

    Drinks - Eng 67-1published at 13 overs

    Pope 32, Duckett 30

Another misfield, this time from Shubman Gill at mid-off but it doesn't cost India a run.

Mohammed Siraj has his head in his hands a couple of balls later as Ollie Pope slightly falls over one and gets a leading edge that runs along the ground to cover.

The over ends with Ben Duckett playing and missing with a cut shot. Time for drinks.

A lovely shot from Pope. Sumptuous extra cover drive. He looks really good Ollie Pope. His feet are moving well, you can see when he feels part of the innings.

The crowd like that. Bumrah just looked to be slightly challenged by that, but he should have stopped it.

'Lovely shot!' - Pope hits consecutive fours to end Krishna over

    Oh dear, Jasprit.

A fantastic spell but a poor piece of fielding in the deep from the fast bowler. Ollie Pope nailed the cut shot, Bumrah got to it but just didn't get down quickly enough and it's through for four.

    The Western Terrace enjoyed that.

And that! Gorgeous cover drive from Pope and it's four more.
