  1. 100 runs

100 partnership for Harris and Hurstpublished at 11:35 British Summer Time 10 May

    Northants 238 v Lancs 161-3

Matty Hurst pulls Ben Sanderson to the boundary to bring up his 100 stand with Marcus Harris - potentially a game-changing partnership as Lancashire continue whittling down the deficit.

They were looking a little unsteady when the pair joined forces at 59-3, but Northants have been unable to find a way through since then.

  2. 100 runs

    Kent v Glamorgan 416-7

    Well batted, Benjamin Ian Kellaway.

He's had to wait for it because Andy Gorvin has taken much of the strike, but the 21-year-old reaches a maiden first-class century by steering Kashif Ali through the covers and coming back for three runs.

It's taken him 159 balls and no wonder he looks delighted as he removes his helmet to acknowledge the applause.

    A great moment for him.

  3. Postpublished at 103.5 overs

    Warks 388-4 v Surrey

Gorgeous. Tom Latham's timing is superb as he strai8ght drives Nathan Smith for error.

BBC commentator Mark Church says there is "no margin for error" for the bowlers on this pitch and he is absolutely right. It's a belter.

  4. Robinson off the fieldpublished at 11:32 British Summer Time 10 May

    Sussex 284 v Worcs 26-1

Ollie Robinson has gone off the field after appearing to be struggling with an injury in his left leg or ankle.

This is a concern for a Sussex side who are already down on seam bowling stocks with Sean Hunt and Jayden Seales out of action.

Robinson did jog off so perhaps it is not as bad as feared but they will not want to go another front line bowler down.

  5. 100 partnership for Warwickshirepublished at 103.1 overs

    Warks 383-4 v Surrey

Nathan Smith begins a new over and Ed Barnard deflects his opening delivery down to third man for four as he and Tom Latham post a century stand from 190 balls, having come together when Beau Webster was dismissed last evening.

  6. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:27 British Summer Time 10 May

    Das c Bean b Hill 8 (Essex 35-4 v Yorks 216)

Wicket number three for George Hill!

The medium-pacer brings the ball back at Robin Das, who can only fend it off low to third slip, where Fin Bean scoops up the catch.

Essex are in a bit of a hole now as Matt Critchley comes out to join Tom Westley at the crease.

  7. 'We've got to play positive cricket'published at 11:23 British Summer Time 10 May

    Northants 238 v Lancs 151-3

    Allan Lamb
    Former Northamptonshire and England batter

I can't believe how great the ground looks, it looks wonderful. It could be an interesting morning to play.

I always said we've got to play positive cricket, get out there and start scoring runs. The more runs we scored in a quick time, the more pressure we put on the opposition and it worked for us.

I had a chat with (Northants coach Darren) Lehmann and I think this is the way he wants the team to play now. You don't want boring old draws, it just doesn't work.

  8. 150 runs

for Tom Lathampublished at 11:22 British Summer Time 10 May

    Warks 378-4 v Surrey

Having nudged Matthew Fisher past first slip for four, Tom Latham reaches 150 at Edgbaston with a less certain edge to the boundary from the bowling of fellow Kiwi Nathan Smith. It has taken him 265 balls and he now has 16 fours in total, as well as a six.

  9. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:20 British Summer Time 10 May

    Stoneman c & b Hutton 14 (Notts 333 v Hants 20-1)

Key breakthrough early as Mark Stoneman is caught and bowled by Brett Hutton.

That is a good grab by the Notts bowler who sticks out a right paw and sees it stick just enough to juggle and grab at second attempt.

  10. Postpublished at 11:19 British Summer Time 10 May

    Essex 35-3 v Yorks 216

Tom Westley is up and running for today, the Essex captain steering Ben Coad through the gully area for four - helped by the absence of a third man.

At the other end, George Hill continues to threaten with the ball and has had a decent leg before shout against Robin Das turned down.

  11. Postpublished at 11:16 British Summer Time 10 May

    Warks 367-4 v Surrey

Nathan Smith has decided to try out Ed Barnard with some short stuff.

The Warwickshire all-rounder tries to pull but gets only a toe end on it and the ball goes nowhere.

The next one is so far down the leg-side that Ben Foakes has to dive full length to gather - somehow it isn't called a wide.

  12. 400 up for Glamorganpublished at 11:09 British Summer Time 10 May

    Kent v Glamorgan 400-7

Andy Gorvin takes a couple of steps down the pitch to George Garrett and pushes the ball to mid-wicket for a single, which brings Glamorgan their fourth batting point.

Gorvin is three not out and partner Ben Kellaway is inching closer to three figures on 95.

  13. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:08 British Summer Time 10 May

    Gibbon c Simpson b Robinson 4 (Sussex 284 v Worcs 10-1)

The nightwatch has been short and it is over for Ben Gibbon.

He did his job last night surviving three overs but he has lasted just 10 balls this morning until a tentative defensive prod takes the edge.

Gibbon looks a little disgruntled to have been given but the slip cordon and keeper were in no doubt and his immediate glance back after it passed his bat was a bit of a giveaway.

  14. Postpublished at 11:08 British Summer Time 10 May

    Essex 29-3 v Yorks 216

Three slips are crouched, awaiting edges off the bat, as Yorkshire resume their quests for wickets at Chelmsford.

Medium-pacer George Hill, who picked up two of them last night, gets another go with the cherry alongside Ben Coad.

Essex pick up a couple of runs from the first two overs of the day, scored by Robin Das.

  15. Postpublished at 11:07 British Summer Time 10 May

    Warwicks 366-4 v Surrey

Tom Latham was certainly 'seeing it like a football' by the end of yesterday's play. But if he wasn't fully switched on to resume his innings, that will have done the trick.

Nathan Smith produces a superb yorker which the left-hander only just manages to jam his bat down on in time.

  16. Postpublished at 11:03 British Summer Time 10 May

    Northants 238 v Lancs 133-3

Harry Conway, who bowled well for Northamptonshire last night, is entrusted with the opening over of the second day and delivers a maiden to Marcus Harris.

The Australian left-hander is 53 not out overnight and will be looking to turn that into his third century of the season.

  17. Postpublished at 11:02 British Summer Time 10 May

    Kent v Glamorgan 393-7

After dismissing Timm van der Gugten with the final ball of yesterday's play, George Garrett has two more to bowl to complete his over at the Spitfire Ground.

    Andy Gorvin survives them both.

  18. Postpublished at 11:01 British Summer Time 10 May

    Warks 365-4 v Surrey

Surrey could do with a couple of early wickets at Edgbaston.

Matthew Fisher will have the first crack at trying to provide them.

Ed Barnard tucks his first delivery into the leg-side and jogs through for a single.

  19. Postpublished at 10:59 British Summer Time 10 May

That is enough of the before-play verbiage. Time and tide wait for no man - and it is time for cricket.

  20. Hants take aim at 'over par' Notts batting effortpublished at 10:56 British Summer Time 10 May

    Notts 333 v Hants 2-0 (start 11:00)

Hampshire bowler Kyle Abbott took 5-57 on day oneImage source, Rex Features

Kyle Abbott admitted Hampshire finished the opening day at Trent Bridge feeling they let an opportunity to impose themselves slip through their fingers.

Despite figures of 5-57, Abbott suggested that allowing Notts to claw their way to a score of 333 was well above what it should have been.

“To be quite honest, their total seems a little bit over par on that pitch. There was a bit more in it than that sort of score might suggest,” he said.

“We were a little bit unlucky this morning. There was a lot going on, sometimes a bit too much.”

Notts' total was in large part due to a brilliant 138 from 20-year-old batting prospect Freddie McCann, who believes his third first-class century was the best so far in his career.

"This is probably the best I’ve played so far. Out of the three hundreds I’ve made this is number one, the most pressure I’ve been under so far," he said.
