  1. dropped catch

Brookes dropped on 10published at 14:31 British Summer Time

    Sussex 284 v Worcs 91-4

Sort of a dropped catch although to call it as such is probably unfair to Tom Clark who makes a valiant attempt.

Ethan Brookes tries to turn the ball to the leg side but gets a leading edge and chips up a chance to Clark in his follow through.

Clark gets a hand to it but it is an attempt on the half volley and he would have needed to be a couple of feet further down the strip to take it.

  2. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:31 British Summer Time

    Phillip c Vasconcelos b Conway 5 (Northants 238 v Lancs 275-9)

Ricardo Vasconcelos will be feeling a little happier - he dropped a slip catch this morning, but holds on safely this time to dismiss Anderson Phillip and provide Northamptonshire with their ninth wicket.

Phillip had just played an expansive on-drive for four off Harry Conway, but took a swing at the next ball and speared it into the hands of the slip fielder.

Maximum bowling bonus points for the home side then - now they want one more wicket as last man Will Williams comes to the middle.

  3. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:28 British Summer Time

Finch lbw Harris 4 (Kent 5-1 v Glamorgan 549-9 dec)

    Not much doubt about that.

Harry Finch is pinned by one from James Harris which may just have kept a little low.

An early breakthrough for Glamorgan, bringing Daniel Bell-Drummond to the crease following his 223 at Lord's last weekend.

  4. Kent begin reply to huge Glamorgan totalpublished at 14:23 British Summer Time

    Kent 4-0 v Glamorgan 549-9 dec

What we omitted to tell you when Glamorgan declared is that their score of 549-9 is their highest in a Championship game against Kent - beating their 544 all out on the same ground in 1999, when Steve James and Matthew Maynard made centuries.

Anyway, Ben Compton and Harry Finch are the Kent openers and the latter on-drives for four to end Timm van der Gugten's opening over.

  5. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:23 British Summer Time

    Dawson c Ahmed b Abbas 19 (Notts 333 v Hants 148-8)

Never mind Mo Abbas's five for, that was a worldie from Farhan Ahmed at cover.

Liam Dawson has leaned back and smoked a drive on the off side, Ahmed dives slightly up and at full stretch to his right and takes a stunning catch.

Dawson leans on his bat wondering how on earth that is not being chiselled out of the advertising hoardings but he is on his way and Abbas had 5-29.

It's another blow for Essex here.

Yorkshire are working their way into the tail end now, they'll be looking to bowl out Essex rather quickly.

Thain had been resolute in his defence but he was drawn out by that delivery by George Hill.

  7. Postpublished at 14:19 British Summer Time

    Sussex 284 v Worcs 88-4

Big shout by Ollie Robinson and all the close fielders for a lbw against Ethan Brookes but the appeal is turned down.

Replays show there was a healthy inside edge from Brookes's bat as it went through to strike his pad.

At 43-3 and 74-4 the Worcs reply looked in bother and it still is but Brookes and Henry Nicholls are making the right decisions to rebuild.

    Thain c Bairstow b Hill 24 (Essex 111-8 v Yorks 216)

George Hill, YorkshireImage source, Rex Features

Yorkshire bring George Hill back on - and his fifth delivery brings the desired result!

The medium-pacer tempts Noah Thain to drive outside off stump and it's a fourth catch for Jonny Bairstow - as well as a fourth wicket for Hill.

He must be eyeing a five-for now, surely, as Shane Snater comes out to join Simon Harmer.

  9. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:15 British Summer Time

    Harris lbw b Procter 121 (Northants 238 v Lancs 264-8)

Luke Procter is really leading from the front here for Northamptonshire against his former county!

The medium-pacer pins Marcus Harris in front for an excellent 121 and Lancashire are eight down with their lead a modest 26.

  10. Postpublished at 14:14 British Summer Time

  11. Glamorgan declarepublished at 14:10 British Summer Time

    Kent v Glamorgan 549-9 dec

Time for a final Ben Kellaway boundary, whipped away off Ekansh Singh, before Glamorgan skipper Sam Northeast calls in his batters.

Kellaway finished unbeaten on 181, made from 228 balls and containing three fours and 18 fours.

A superb knock for his side - and remember, it is his maiden first-class hundred.

  12. Postpublished at 14:10 British Summer Time

    Warks 524-5 v Surrey

    Warwickshire raising the tempo now.

Ed Barnard paddles Cameron Steel fine for four and two balls later Zen Malik cracks the spinner square for another boundary - 12 off the over.

  13. Postpublished at 14:08 British Summer Time

    Notts 333 v Hants 120-7

Kyle Abbott is not going to die wondering here and has clearly decided attack is the best form of defence.

His scorebook entry is 4.4..4. at the moment and he has 12 from seven deliveries, Mo Abbas or no Mo Abbas.

4-6-6-4 - this is great stuff by Ben Kellaway.

Matt Parkinson is the bowler to suffer as the Glamorgan all-rounder targets the mid-wicket boundary with a series of big hits.

The 21-year-old is now 176 not out.

  15. 'Key breakthrough for Yorkshire'published at 14:02 British Summer Time

Dan Moriarty takes a wicketImage source, Rex Features

It's a key breakthrough shortly after lunch for Yorkshire.

Dan Moriarty with the spin getting the edge of Michael Pepper. Pepper will be disappointed in that, he was looking good earlier in the over and now he has to walk back to the pavilion.

Pepper and Noah Thain were looking to build a steady partnership and Yorkshire have managed to break it at a valuable time.

  16. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:02 British Summer Time

    Fuller lbw b Hutton 5 (Notts 333 v Hants 106-7)

Not much doubt about that, James Fuller pushing forward and struck bang in line with off stump to give Brett Hutton a second wicket.

Hampshire have lost two in quick succession since lunch and are in a tailspin here with not much batting left.

  17. 100 runs

for Ed Barnardpublished at 14:00 British Summer Time

    Warks 500-5 v Surrey

    Ed BarnardImage source, Rex Features

Ed Barnard pushes the ball to mid-on for a single and reaches his second hundred of the season and ninth of his career - and also takes Warwickshire's total to 500.

It has taken him 165 balls - and has brought up a 50 partnership with Zen Malik. He celebrates by flicking Cameron Steel fine for a boundary, his ninth.

  18. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:59 British Summer Time

    Hartley b Procter 4 (Northants 238 v Lancs 256-7)

Luke Procter strikes for Northamptonshire as he brings on back to hit middle and off stump and remove Tom Hartley.

It's been a good spell from the home skipper and accounts for the seventh Lancashire wicket with the lead just 18.

Tom Bailey replaces Hartley at the crease.

  19. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:59 British Summer Time

    Kashif Ali c Simpson b Robinson 13 (Sussex 284 v Worcs 74-4)

And Tom Alsop can breathe... Kashif Ali, dropped before he had a run by the Sussex man, has been nipped out by Ollie Robinson.

That is a nice wicket all round not only on account of the limited collateral damage but because Robinson is evidently fine after his injury scare.

  20. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:58 British Summer Time

    Pepper c Bairstow b Moriarty 30 (Essex 105-7 v Yorks 216)

Dan Moriarty is still finding some turn and now he's got his first wicket!

Michael Pepper prods forward to that one and Jonny Bairstow snaps it up off the edge, ending the partnership of 46.

That brings Simon Harmer to the middle.
