    Brown b Abbas 3 (Notts 333 v Hants 99-5)

Is there a better sight than a cartwheeling off stump?

Not if you are Ben Brown perhaps as the Hampshire skipper is sent on his way by a peach from Mo Abbas which squared him up and took his off peg.

It is now 3-19 on debut for Notts for the former Hants man.

  2. Postpublished at 12:55 British Summer Time 10 May

    Essex 89-6 v Yorks 216

Apologies are due to Dan Moriarty.

Having concluded there was no turn for the left-arm spinner, his second over suggests otherwise as he gets a couple of deliveries to fizz off the surface and bamboozle the Essex batters.

Michael Pepper and Noah Thain battling hard to survive until the lunch interval and beyond.

  3. 100 partnership for Glamorganpublished at 12:53 British Summer Time 10 May

    Kent v Glamorgan 491-7

Ben Kellaway doesn't get his front foot anywhere near it but makes a clean contact as he puts Ekansh Singh away for four to bring up a century stand with Andy Gorvin. Not a single crumb of wicket-taking comfort for Kent so far this morning.

  4. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:50 British Summer Time 10 May

    Prest lbw b Abbas 43 (Notts 333 v Hants 96-4)

Back to back boundaries off the first two deliveries of the over then Mo Abbas nips one back with the third and Tom Prest is pinned in front.

Notts will feel they are one wicket away from getting sight of the beginnings of Hampshire's tail and, one wicket away having a shot at a serious first innings lead.

  5. Postpublished at 12:48 British Summer Time 10 May

    Essex 85-6 v Yorks 216

First over of spin in this Essex innings, with Yorkshire deciding to see whether left-armer Dan Moriarty can extract some turn from the surface.

The answer appears to be no after Moriarty's first six balls, but those cost him just a single to Noah Thain and Yorkshire will be content to keep the runs down.

As we've seen already in this game, cutting off the flow of runs inevitably brings wickets eventually. With that said, they'd like another before lunch.

  6. Postpublished at 12:46 British Summer Time 10 May

    Warks 466-5 v Surrey

A flashing square drive off Dan Lawrence brings Zen Malik four runs, the first of his innings. He looks to be one of those very wristy players.

  7. Postpublished at 12:40 British Summer Time 10 May

    Kent v Glamorgan 473-7

There must be some very weary Kent fielders out there.

Matt Parkinson loops up a leg-break and Ben Kellaway drives it handsomely over mid-off and away for four.

He is 134 not out and the home side have still to take a wicket today.

  8. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:40 British Summer Time 10 May

    Wells c Zaib b Sales 13 (Northants 238 v Lancs 227-5)

Finally, Northamptonshire have managed to cling onto a chance!

Luke Wells had got away with it twice but it's third time unlucky and it's a fine tumbling take by Saif Zaib at gully to earn James Sales a wicket.

George Balderson is in now to join centurion Marcus Harris.

There was a certain inevitability about it - and he's been given two lives in this innings - but that is another hundred for Marcus Harris.

Harris crashes James Sales past point for his 15th boundary and reaches three figures from 188 balls.

It's the third time he's hit a century in nine innings since joining Lancashire at the start of the season.

  10. 'Simplest of catches for Verreynne'published at 12:38 British Summer Time 10 May

    Notts 333 v Hants 71-3

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham commentator

It's the simplest of catches that Verreynne will ever take and Middleton is gone.

You've got to feel a bit for Middleton, Verreynne didn't seem to know how to celebrate that wicket.

It's come out completely out of the blue, Middleton could maybe consider himself a bit unlucky. It didn't seem as though it was ball of the century but it behaved as though it was.

  11. dropped catch

Let-off for Barnardpublished at 12:37 British Summer Time 10 May

    Warks 450-5 v Surrey

Should have been two in successive overs for Surrey.

Ed Barnard - on 78 - cuts uppishly off Dan Lawrence and James Taylor fails to hold a straightforward chance at point.

  12. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:32 British Summer Time 10 May

    Latham c Foakes b Lawes 184 (Warks 450-5 v Surrey)

A little bit of extra lift for Tom Lawes and a magnificent innings comes to an end.

Tom Latham can only edge through to the keeper and finally departs after batting for 400 minutes, facing 319 balls and hitting a six and 21 fours.

He put on 169 with Ed Barnard, who has now been joined in the middle by Zen Malik.

Is it time now for the batting art of Zen?

  13. Postpublished at 12:30 British Summer Time 10 May

    Essex 78-6 v Yorks 216

Matthew Revis has come on for his first bowl of this game, but he's yet to match the accuracy of his fellow Yorkshire seamers.

Revis was loose on the leg side and Michael Pepper gratefully pulled him to the boundary before the next ball turned into a slow full toss that took the batter somewhat by surprise.

It's some mild respite for Essex, who have been under the cosh this morning and desperately need a partnership to dig themselves out of trouble.

  14. Karvelas 'has been the pick'published at 12:28 British Summer Time 10 May

    Sussex 284 v Worcs 55-3

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

A good morning for Sussex, making early inroads into the Worcestershire top order.

With Ollie Robinson back on the field after appearing to have a leg injury, Sussex are back to a full compliment of seam bowlers, and they have done the damage.

Ari Karvelas, making his first appearance of the season has been the pick of the bowlers, removing Gareth Roderick with a beauty which left the right hander to be caught in the slips, and should have accounted for Kashif Ali, who was dropped before he’d scored by Tom Alsop at first slip.

Henry Nicholls who dislocated a finger fielding yesterday has steadied the Worcestershire ship, but on a pitch giving some assistance to the bowlers Sussex are currently on top

  15. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:28 British Summer Time 10 May

    Middleton c Verreynne b James 30 (Notts 333 v Hants 71-3)

Fletcha Middleton has gone to pull and it has got a bit big on him and he top edges an easy catch to Kyle Verreynne behind the stumps.

Lyndon James did not celebrate too vigorously there having been pinged for two fours earlier in the over.

But he should as this is becoming a bad start to the reply for Hants.

  16. Postpublished at 12:26 British Summer Time 10 May

    Warks 439-4 v Surrey

Following two wayward deliveries down the leg-side, Tom Latham pulls Tom Lawes down to fine leg for four to take him to 176 not out - which we are told is the highest score on debut for Warwickshire.

As good a position as Warwickshire are in, they are going to need to take 20 wickets to win this game and that is going to be a big ask on this pitch.

  17. dropped catch

Dropped catches at Northamptonpublished at 12:26 British Summer Time 10 May

    Northants 238 v Lancs 217-4

Northamptonshire's trio of slip fielders now share an unwanted statistic - they have all dropped catches this morning.

Marcus Harris, slashing outside off stump, was put down at second slip by Ricardo Vasconcelos - and then Luke Wells, already dropped by James Sales, gained another life when Calvin Harrison failed to cling on at third.

Harris is now into the 90s and Wells must also feel his luck is in today as Lancashire move closer to that Northants total of 238.

  18. Glamorgan pass 450published at 12:19 British Summer Time 10 May

    Kent v Glamorgan 452-7

Ben Kellaway cover drives for four off George Garrett as Glamorgan's total passes 450.

The young right-hander is now 124 not out.

  19. Postpublished at 12:18 British Summer Time 10 May

    Warks 431-4 v Surrey

Surrey continue to toil as Tom Latham and Ed Barnard reach a 150 partnership for Warwickshire.

The two batters have each contributed 73 to the stand - Barnard is 73 not out and Latham now has 172.

  20. Postpublished at 12:15 British Summer Time 10 May

    It must be a first.

The entire United Arab Emirates team retired with their score on 192-0 and rain looming in a Women's World Cup qualifier against Qatar.

They then bowled out Qatar for 29 to win by 163 runs.
