  1. Postpublished at 17:13 British Summer Time

    Kent 88-5 v Glamorgan 549-9 dec

Chris Benjamin drives at a wide one from Zain ul-Hassan. It goes aerial via the outside edge but clears the slip cordon and heads for the rope at third man. Not a shot with a lot of conviction, that one.

  2. Postpublished at 14.2 overs

    Warks 665-5 dec v Surrey 43-0

Ethan Bamber is certain he has Dom Sibley leg-before - but the umpire doesn't agree.

There was a little movement from leg to off there and we think it was just missing. Good ball, though.

Another huge appeal two balls later. That looks more adjacent, but again the umpire shakes the panama.

  3. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:07 British Summer Time

    Hughes b Allison 0 (Sussex 284 & 0-2 v Worcs 180)

And it's two in two with the other opener Daniel Hughes removed by Ben Allison.

Hughes is furious with himself and with good reason having opted not to offer a shot and hearing his off stump clattered.

But to be fair to Ben Allison that was a decent ball moving quite a bit from pitch to stump.

No score and two down is not the score they what Sussex were after but they are still effectively 104-2.

  4. Postpublished at 13.1 overs

    Warks 665-5 dec v Surrey 35-0

Rory Burns tries to pull a ball from Che Simmons.

An under-edge doesn't carry to keeper Alex Davies, but he can't gather it and it rolls away for four - and he ends up flat on his back.

Hard to imagine Ben Foakes ending up in that position.

  5. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:05 British Summer Time

    Haines b Taylor 0 (Sussex 284 & 0-1 v Worcs 180)

Tom Taylor continues his excellent match by removing Sussex opener Tom Haines with a inswinger which flattens his off stump.

  6. Postpublished at 13 overs

    Warks 665-5 dec v Surrey 31-0

How is the breakthrough going to be achieved by Warwickshire?

Not that way as Dom Sibley off-drives the first ball of a new Ethan Bamber which brings him a boundary.

There are 19 overs of play remaining.

  7. 50 runs

50 for Adam Lythpublished at 17:04 British Summer Time

    Essex 123 v Yorks 216 & 64-0

Adam Lyth, YorkshireImage source, Rex Features

Adam Lyth strokes Kasun Rajitha through the covers and, although the ball doesn't carry enough pace to reach the rope, the three runs gained are sufficient to take the Yorkshire opener to his second half-century of the match from 106 balls.

Lyth has been beyond 50 in every County Championship match so far this season, but this is the first time he's done it twice.

  8. 'An extraordinary day of cricket'published at 17:02 British Summer Time

    Notts 333 59-5 v Hants 196

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham commentator

Kyle Verreynne leaves it alone and it nips back and demolishes his off stump.

Verreynne uncharacteristically elected not to play and has been cleaned up for nine.

It's an extraordinary day of cricket with still 28 or so over to go.

  9. 50 partnership for Kentpublished at 16:59 British Summer Time

    Kent 73-5 v Glamorgan 549-9 dec

A lot of Kent's runs so far have been to the third man area and there's another one for Jack Leaning off Asitha Fernando which brings up a 50 partnership with Chris Benjamin from 108 balls.

Leaning is 25 not out and his partner has 29.

  10. Postpublished at 16:56 British Summer Time

    Northants 238 & 75-4 v Lancs 276

Close call for Rob Keogh, who is struck on the pad by a ball from George Balderson that nipped back.

A few hearts in mouths but the umpire's hand remains by his side and Keogh survives. For now, at least.

This is attritional stuff for Northamptonshire, with Keogh and Saif Zaib - who has avoided a pair - battling to withstand the pressure and stretch their side's slender advantage.

  11. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:52 British Summer Time

    Verreynne b Wheal 9 (Notts 333 59-5 v Hants 196)

Ooh dear... that is an error of judgement from Kyle Verreynne who misjudges the line, length or both, shoulders arms and loses his off stump.

Notts will be starting to think what is a lead they can defend and while they may whisper it quietly, they may be asking have we already got it?

That advantage is 196 (which was Hants's first innings effort) but it is looking almost impossible to lay bat on ball early on after arriving at the wicket.

This is good bowling from Hampshire but you would think another 100 might do it for the hosts.

  12. Postpublished at 16:51 British Summer Time

    Warks 665-5 dec v Surrey 23-0

Anxious moment for Rory Burns, who cuts a ball from Che Simmons in the air but the diving fielder at point can't quite reach it.

The Surrey skipper is 17 not out and Dom Sibley has six.

  13. 50 runs

50 partnership for Lyth and Beanpublished at 16:47 British Summer Time

    Essex 123 v Yorks 216 & 53-0

Fin Bean (L) and Adam Lyth, YorkshireImage source, Rex Features

For the second time in this match, Adam Lyth and Fin Bean have put together a 50 partnership at the top of the order.

Lyth takes the stand to 53, crunching Kasun Rajitha to the cover fence as Yorkshire stretch their advantage to 146.

  14. Postpublished at 16:47 British Summer Time

    Warks 665-5 dec v Surrey 17-0

Encouragement for Warwickshire as Ethan Bamber finds the edge of Dom Sibley's bat but it falls just short of first slip.

Sibley is then beaten by another good one and rapped on the thumb by a delivery slightly shorter in length.

The Surrey opener is denied four runs to end the over as a diving Sam Hain save just inside the boundary keeps him to two.

  15. Postpublished at 16:43 British Summer Time

    Kent 56-5 v Glamorgan 549-9 dec

A boundary for Chris Benjamin, who dabs a ball from Zain ul-Hassan past the slip cordon and down to third man. He moves on to 16.

  16. wicket

WORCS 180 ALL OUTpublished at 16:43 British Summer Time

    Taylor c Simpson b Hudson-Prentice 32 (Sussex 284 v Worcs 180)

Fynn Hudson-Prentice takes the final wicket as Worcestershire's innings comes to a close with them trailing by 104 runs.

The Sussex bowler finishes with his fourth wicket caught by his captain behind the stumps and 5-40 overall.

  17. Postpublished at 7 overs

    Warks 665-5 dec v Surrey 15-0

The pitch is proving no more helpful for Warwickshire's attack thus far than it did for Surrey's. Rory Burns clips Oliver Hannon-Dalby away for four and moves into double figures.

  18. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:38 British Summer Time

    McCann b Brown b Fuller 18 (Notts 333 & 50-4 v Hants 196)

And the danger man from the first innings is gone, driving at a perfectly pitched delivery and edging behind.

Cricket does that to you and now Freddie McCann's 138 from the first dig has been replaced as an answer to the question "How did you do?" with "Not good, I got 18".

It is worth repeating that this match is trapping along like a 5f sprinter and that is now 14 wickets in just over two sessions.

  19. 'Yorkshire well in control'published at 16:36 British Summer Time

    Essex 123 v Yorks 216 & 48-0

    Santokie Nagulendran
    BBC Radio Essex

It's going to be important for Yorkshire to continue this. Essex are going with pace to try and break up this partnership.

Yorkshire are well in control here. Both sides are desperately seeking a win after what can only be said to be indifferent starts to the season for both of them.

It's definitely advantage Yorkshire here at the moment, it's been their day so far.

  20. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:32 British Summer Time

    D'Oliveira c Coles b Clark 30 (Sussex 284 v Worcs 162-9)

Brett D'Oliveira can't believe he has done that.

After all that concentration and graft, he has had an airy waft at an unthreatening wide ball and edged it to second slip where James Coles takes a diving but relatively simple chance.

The partnership has not progressed since tea and remains at 51 runs for the ninth wicket.
