Too short, allowing Tammy Beaumont to rock back in her crease and pick that gap. Rodrigues is a gun in the field, but that was a little too good even for her.

  5. Eng 76-3published at 10 overs

Not very disciplined bowling from Sneh Rana, who concedes three boundaries in a row.

Tammy Beaumont sends a half-volley from the off-spinner over point before pulling twice for the same result.

Is there some hope for England after all?

Really confident shot from Tammy Beaumont, reading the pace of the ball early and picking a smart gap. It's putting a bit of pressure back on the bowler, because until then that had been a really tidy over from Amanjot Kaur, despite having a sore thumb to deal with.

  7. Eng 60-3published at 9 overs

Tammy Beaumont adds another boundary to her innings - this time whipping Amanjot Kaur over mid-off.

She then moves on to 30 with a single before Amy Jones pulls the final delivery towards deep square, where Smriti Mandhana does well to stop a four but can't.

She's probably stopped a four rather than taking a catch there - it would have been a sensational catch.

  9. dropped catch

Beaumont dropped on 24published at 8.1 overs

    Eng 48-3

Amanjot Kaur back into the attack and she's in some pain here.

Tammy Beaumont smashes her first delivery straight back at her. Amanjot throws her hand at it and hurts herself. Tough chance but it has to go down as a drop.

That's one for India's physio to have a look at.

India's plan for England is so clear. Take all the pace off - they know England's record against spin, by now everyone knows England's record against spin, and they haven't had to deviate from that plan.

  11. Eng 48-3published at 8 overs

Harmanpreet Kaur calls on Sneh Rana's off spin now.

It's a tight over from the bowler, who only concedes a single off it.

And Amy Jones almost drags the final ball onto her stumps, but she lives to fight another day.

England will know themselves they need to perform better against the better sides and in pressure situations in World Cups, having not won a trophy since 2017. England fans want series wins and trophies, but you have to patient with a new captain and a new coach.

  13. Eng 47-3published at 7 overs

England add three more from the final four balls of Radha Yadav's over.

A hint of a partnership blossoming here for the hosts.

    Eng 44-3published at 6.2 overs

And the free-hit is dispatched for a six by Tammy Beaumont - the first of England's innings.

  16. Eng 38-3published at 6.2 overs

Left-arm spinner Radha Yadav now takes the ball.

And Tammy Beaumont walks down the wicket and sends her to the boundary.

To make matters worse, the Indian bowler has overstepped and it's a free-hit for England.

This is the 17th time England have lost three or more wickets in a powerplay, when chasing in a T20I match.

They do, however, have a remarkable record when in this situation, rallying to win nine of the previous 16 matches where this has occurred.

  19. Eng 32-3published at 6 overs

Off-spinner Deepti Sharma bowls the final over of the powerplay.

England do not get a boundary but take six singles off it.

Nice shot from Beaumont, over-ptiched from Reddy and Tammy got to it before the ball reached the block-hole.
