A review of desperation. India's batting depth is certainly going to be tested now.

There's nothing Smriti Mandhana can do except watch the wickets fall at the non-strikers end.

Three reds on the ball-tracking technology and Richa Ghosh is on her way back to the pavilion.

India are in a bit of trouble here. If England can nip out Smriti Mandhana they could knock India over for a pretty modest total.

  4. India reviewpublished at 15.2 overs

More like an attempt to flick it to leg, having changed her mind mid-shot, by Richa Ghosh.

    No bat involved.

  5. India reviewpublished at 15.2 overs

Richa Ghosh is struck on the pad by Sophie Ecclestone playing a tentative defensive prod.

It's given out on field, but Ghosh reviews it.

    This looks out...

  6. Ind 70-4published at 15 overs

The dropped catch is still weighing on the mind of a glum-faced Charlie Dean as she collects her cap back at the end of the over.

That is a honking drop. Goodness me. That was a really poor drop.

  8. dropped catch

Ghosh dropped on noughtpublished at 14.3 overs

Charlie Dean has just taken a screamer, and now drops an absolute dolly.

Richa Ghosh lurches forward and tamely chips the ball back to Dean, who somehow manages to spill it.

She's got her head in her hands.

Brilliant work from Charlie Dean. Low to the ground, it was struck firmly straight back at her.

Another big breakthrough! Not the start India would have wanted.

It has been disciplined bowling from England. They have made mistakes in the field again, which is a source of frustration, but in terms of the bowling they have kept the pressure on.

  11. wicket

    Rodrigues c & b Dean 3 (Ind 69-4)

    And there's one of them!

Jemimah Rodrigues dances down the track and drills the ball low back towards Charlie Dean, but the England spinner manages to get her fingers underneath the ball and claim a sharp return catch.

    Thanks, Adwaidh.

This feels like a decent start for England if they can snaffle a couple more wickets in the next few overs.

That's it from me for now, as we almost reach the halfway point of this innings.

My colleague Timothy Abraham will take you through the rest of India's batting innings.

  14. Ind 68-3published at 14 overs

    Sophie Ecclestone continues for England.

The hosts will be in a solid position if they can remove Smriti Mandhana, who looks set in the middle.

Since the start of 2023, Sophie Ecclestone has picked up 18 wickets at an average of 15.33 when bowling to top four batters in ODIs. Her average is the lowest for any bowler with more than ten top four wickets in this timeframe.

  16. Ind 65-3published at 13 overs

Charlie Dean begins with a terrible wide that runs away to the boundary.

But she then tightens up and concedes just three more.

Jemimah Rodrigues is the new batter in and is off the mark.

Good bit of bowling from Sophie Ecclestone.

Harmanpreet Kaur goes back on a fuller ball and it clatters the off stump.

Two for Ecclestone and she is only in her third over.

    But it doesn't matter!

Harmanpreet Kaur has to walk back anyway as Sophie Ecclestone castles her.

The India captain tries to cut her but fails to make room and loses her off stump. Two wickets now for Ecclestone.

That is not a great effort and it is Sophia Dunkley, again.

A torrid time in the field today.

  20. dropped catch

Kaur dropped on 5published at 11.2 overs

    Ind 57-2

Not great fielding from England. And it's Sophia Dunkley again.

Harmanpreet Kaur miscues her shot and it is in the air for a long time. Dunkley is underneath it but cannot get her hand on it.

It will go down as another dropped catch.
