  1. Lunch at Grace Roadpublished at 13:02 British Summer Time 24 May

    Leics v Glam 96-1

Glamorgan have reached lunch just one down and they will be pleased with that.

There were umpteen edges and lbw shouts on a green pitch under leaden skies, but the wicket when it did come was the result of a poor shot from Billy Root off Ben Mike.

Eddie Byrom will resume on 41 not out.

The Foxes will need to regroup.

  2. wicket

WICKET: Alsop c Higgins b Brookes 11published at 12:59 British Summer Time 24 May

    Middlesex v Sussex 92-3

A flying catch to his left with one hand at third slip by Ryan Higgins has got rid of Tom Alsop. Absolutely superb. Henry Brookes has his first scalp and Middlesex have regained control after Sussex made a blistering start, having been put in this morning.

    And that will be lunch...

  3. Postpublished at 12:58 British Summer Time 24 May

    Leics v Glam 96-1

Another huge appeal falls on deaf ears at Grace Road.

Ben Mike crashes one into the pads of Marnus Labuschagne, but no dice. Perhaps sliding down leg, but a decent shout and the appeal lingers long.

The Australian takes a couple off the next ball and gets off the mark with his 10th delivery.

The Foxes won't want this guy to settle.

  4. 50 runs

50 for Dean Elgarpublished at 12:56 British Summer Time 24 May

    Kent v Essex 100-0

A 72nd first class fifty for Dean Elgar.

This one has been among the most straightforward, you'd imagine. Barring a couple of balls which have beaten the edge, the 36-year-old has looked unflustered.

He brings it up from 83 balls with his sixth four, clipped through midwicket off Matt Parkinson, just beating the dive of Zak Crawley on the rope.

It also brings up the Essex 100.

  5. wicket

WICKET Rew lbw Raine 13published at 12:56 British Summer Time 24 May

    Durham v Somerset 76-5

    Told you (see 12:54 entry).

James Rew has no-one to blame but himself, though, as he pads up to a straight ball from Ben Raine delivered from round the wicket.

It's a formality for the umpire.

  6. 'Sanderson has impressed'published at 12:54 British Summer Time 24 May

    Northants v Yorkshire 86-0

    Andrew Radd
    BBC Radio Northampton

Ben Sanderson has been head and shoulders ahead of all the other Northamptonshire seamers this morning.

Jack White is obviously feeling his way back a little bit, Luke Procter has been tidy and Siddharth Kaul perhaps not at his best this morning.

We may get to see Justin Broad at some point.

  7. Postpublished at 12:54 British Summer Time 24 May

    Durham v Somerset 73-4

A somewhat ungainly pull shot by James Rew but it brings him four runs past mid-on off Ben Stokes.

Somerset fans won't thank us for saying this, but at the moment it looks like batting is just a little bit easier than earlier at the Riverside. Just a little.

  8. Postpublished at 12:49 British Summer Time 24 May

    Hants v Surrey 79-3

Jamie Smith goes bang-bang-bang to race to 14 off 13 balls.

He cracks three successive fours off a frustrated Michael Neser, the third a lovely cover drive off a decent ball.

Can he swing momentum back Surrey's way before the break.

  9. wicket

WICKET Root c Patel b Mike 40published at 12:44 British Summer Time 24 May

    Leics v Glam 90-1

    At last, a breakthrough!

Billy Root drags himself from the wicket, disconsolate after wasting his good start.

It's been tough going and he's battled well on a green pitch to move to 40, but then gives it away to his 85th ball.

Ben Mike's delivery outside off is wide and there to hit but the Glamorgan opener guides it to Rishi Patel at point.

Marnus Labuschagne is in. Not a bad number three.

  10. 50 runs

50 for Adam Lythpublished at 12:43 British Summer Time 24 May

    Northants v Yorkshire 78-0

Adam Lyth marks his 200th County Championship game by passing 50 for the fifth time this season.

He turns Luke Procter through square leg for four before running the next ball down to the third man boundary.

A single follows to take Lyth to his half-century from 82 balls faced. He is in great form at the moment.

  11. wicket

WICKET Burns c Middleton b Dawson 33published at 12:40 British Summer Time 24 May

    Hants v Surrey 67-3

Another for Liam Dawson and it's a big wicket!

He turns one into Rory Burns who tickles it on his pad and it pops up to Fletcha Middleton at short leg.

Hampshire's morning you feel. Ben Foakes is in before lunch.

That missed stumping cost just 11 runs

  12. Postpublished at 12:39 British Summer Time 24 May

    Hants v Surrey 67-2

Michael Neser is back on after a breather, replacing Felix Organ.

He gets a little bounce from his third ball, but Jamie Smith plays back to it and gets off the mark with a single.

No, make that two as a wild throw to the bowler's end brings a buzzer.

Big play and miss as Smith tries to cut hard at Neser's final ball and it flies through to wicketkeeper Ben Brown.

  13. 'Low score a rarity for Pope against Hants'published at 12:39 British Summer Time 24 May

    Hants v Surrey 64-2

    Kevan James
    BBC Radio Solent commentator

From a Hampshire point of view, there's not too many times you see Ollie Pope get out for a low score. He averages 114 against them.

  14. Postpublished at 12:37 British Summer Time 24 May

    Durham v Somerset 54-4

Solid defence by Tom Banton, who plays out a Ben Stokes maiden. The England skipper has 2-19 from five overs so far.

  15. Postpublished at 12:35 British Summer Time 24 May

    Kent v Essex 75-0

Not much in the way of peril at Canterbury this morning.

After working his way through his seam options, Kent skipper Daniel Bell-Drummond has opted to have a look at spin 25 minutes before lunch.

The off-spin of Marcus O'Riordan has been chosen to face the two lefties at the top of the order. Matt Parkinson is of course waiting in the wings.

It's a maiden over to start.

  16. Good toss to winpublished at 12:32 British Summer Time 24 May

    Somerset 54-4 v Durham

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Four wickets have fallen in the first 18 overs this morning, with England skipper Ben Stokes taking two of them in his first two overs.

He had Matt Renshaw caught behind for five and then took the wicket of Tom Lammonby for 22, also pouched by the keeper.

The Lammonby dismissal came a ball after Andy Umeed was dropped in the gully by Graham Clark off Stokes.

Umeed fell in the next over though, edging Peter Siddle to Colin Ackermann at second slip for nine. Siddle then pulled up moments later. Seemed to point to his rib area. Completed the last two deliveries and left the field.

There is quite a bit of green in the track and we have had a few wet days in the North East so the ball is doing a bit for the bowlers.

  17. wicket

WICKET Pope c Barker b Dawson 15published at 12:31 British Summer Time 24 May

    Hants v Surrey 64-2

    A second for Liam Dawson!

Ollie Pope once more gets a start and then gives it away.

He looks to get things moving but succeeds only in holing out to Keith Barker at mid-on. A poor shot.

That's Dawson's 300th wicket for Hampshire in his 190th match. Chapeau!

    Jamie Smith replaces Pope.

  18. Postpublished at 12:30 British Summer Time 24 May

    Hants v Surrey 64-1

Liam Dawson is down on his haunches after a huge appeal for lbw against Ollie Pope.

The umpire is unmoved and Dawson takes his time before hopping to his feet again. Perhaps it didn't quite do enough.

It's spin at both ends as Felix Organ sends down his second over.

A single apiece as Pope moves to 15 and Rory Burns to 33.

How much will Hants come to regret that missed stumping off Burns on 22?.

  19. 6 runs

Postpublished at 12:28 British Summer Time 24 May

    Durham v Somerset 54-4

Ben Stokes decides to test out Tom Banton with a bouncer.

It doesn't pay off as the Somerset batter pulls it over backward square for six.

Great Caribbean-style shot and it takes the Somerset total past 50.

Peter Siddle has had to go off so Ben Raine will start a new spell.

  20. wicket

WICKET: Clark c Davies b Higgins 32published at 12:27 British Summer Time 24 May

    Middlesex v Sussex 80-2

Great low catch from Jack Davies and Tom Clark has to go. Ryan Higgins has his first wicket, tempting Tom Clark into a big old waft outside off which sees him feather a bottom edge through to the keeper.

After a blistering start from Sussex, the hosts are wrestling back some initiative.
