  1. No hat-trick for Siddlepublished at 13:50 British Summer Time 24 May

    Durham v Somerset 84-7

The treble is thwarted as Migael Pretorius gets solidly behind the last ball of Peter Siddle's over - but the Australia now has figures of 3-9.

In case you were wondering, Somerset's lowest innings score against Durham was - and still is - 56 on this same ground in 2003.

  2. wicket

WICKET Lawrence c Organ b Abbott 4published at 13:50 British Summer Time 24 May

    Hants v Surrey 99-5

An odd innings comes to an end.

Dan Lawrence plays a loose shot to his third ball, trying to flick away Kyle Abbott to the leg side but he's gone to a brilliant catch from Felix Organ at square leg.

Organ flings himself to his right and takes it two-handed.

Surrey suddenly in a hole here. Cam Steel is in.

  3. 'This pitch is going to turn'published at 13:49 British Summer Time 24 May

    Hants v Surrey 98-4

    Dan Whiting
    BBC Radio London

You can see how the pitch is going to turn because Felix Organ came into the attack before Kyle Abbott and it's not often that's happened over the years.

James Fuller hasn't had a go yet so Hampshire obviously know that this will start ripping.

  4. 100 up for Glamorganpublished at 13:49 British Summer Time 24 May

    Leics v Glam 103-1

The good start continues for the Welsh side after lunch as three runs from Marnus Labuschagne brings up three figures.

  5. wicket

WICKET Overton b Siddle 0published at 13:48 British Summer Time 24 May

    Durham v Somerset 84-7

Would you believe it - Peter Siddle is on a hat-trick!

Having removed Lewis Gregory, he bowls Craig Overton via the inside edge. A pretty half-hearted stroke that one.

Migael Pretorius will face the final ball of the over.

  6. Play resumes in Southamptonpublished at 13:46 British Summer Time 24 May

    Hants v Surrey 98-4

Keith Barker opens up for Hampshire after lunch to Ben Foakes.

A lovely looking drive through extra cover is held up by the slow outfield and gives the England wicketkeeper three runs.

Dan Lawrence faces his first ball after Jamie Smith was castled on the stroke of lunch.

No hanging around as he attacks his first ball and a thick outside edge brings a boundary.

Not in control but he gets away with it.

  7. wicket

WICKET Gregory c Robinson b Siddle 0published at 13:45 British Summer Time 24 May

    Durham v Somerset 84-6

Good news for Durham. Peter Siddle is back on the park and will bowl the first over of the afternoon session at the Riverside.

Even better news for Surham. The Aussie strikes with his fourth delivery as Lewis Gregory flashes at one outside off stump and is caught behind.

Two wickets for Siddle now - and three catches in the innings for Ollie Robinson.

  8. Play abandoned at Worcesterpublished at 13:42 British Summer Time 24 May

    What a huge disappointment.

Back at Visit Worcestershire New Road for the first time in the Championship this season and no play is possible on the opening day.

A damp patch in the bowlers' run-up was the chief problem and not even an infrared heater could dry it out enough to satisfy umpires Nigel Llong and Surendiran Shanmugam.

    They must try again tomorrow.

  9. Back under way at Lord'spublished at 13:39 British Summer Time 24 May

    Middlesex v Sussex 98-3

Henry Brookes finished off his interrupted over from before the interval, sending down a no ball and then being cracked away to the ropes by James Coles to get him off the mark.

  10. Latest from Old Traffordpublished at 13:33 British Summer Time 24 May

Lancashire v Warwickshire - start delayed

In case you were wondering what has been going on at Old Trafford, the umpires ordered an early lunch at 12:30 and are now taking a look at conditions after rain prevented any play this morning.

    We'll keep you posted.

  11. Glamorgan content with Grace Road startpublished at 13:23 British Summer Time 24 May

    Leicestershire v Glamorgan 96-1 - lunch

Glamorgan did well to lose only one wicket in the first session after being put in to bat on a very green surface under mostly cloud skies.

Left-handers Billy Root and Eddie Byrom survived some early edges and lbw appeals to add 90 before Root, who’d had to work hard for any rhythm, slapped Ben Mike straight to point for 40.

Byrom and Marnus Labuschagne were happy to hang on until the lunch interval as the Foxes’ five-man seam attack found their lines following a wasteful start.

Glamorgan have rested top run-scorer Colin Ingram to allow Pakistan paceman Mir Hamza back in for his final game, while Leicestershire are giving a debut to loan Hampshire all-rounder Ian Holland.

This may be Lewis Gregory's birthday, but that didn't save him from losing an important toss.

The decision to insert was obvious, on a green pitch allied to a slow outfield, and it produced the expected dividends for Durham as Somerset lost five wickets to some accurate, challenging bowling, not least from a certain Ben Stokes.

Tom Lammonby flourished briefly, and Tom Banton has played some lovely shots - a pulled six off Stokes among them - to be still there at lunch, but this was emphatically Durham's morning.

  13. 'Miserly' Higgins checks Sussexpublished at 13:16 British Summer Time 24 May

    Middlesex v Sussex 92-3 - lunch

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

Having raced to 66 without loss in just 13 overs, Sussex will be slightly disappointed to reach lunch 92 for 3

Much of the credit must go to Ryan Higgins, who having watched his opening bowlers dispatched to all parts by, in particular, Tom Haines, bowled a miserly spell of nine accurate overs conceding just 20 runs and picked up the wicket of Tom Clark.

Higgins then further distinguished himself with a breathtaking catch, diving low at third slip, to dismiss Tom Alsop on the stroke of lunch, which leaves honours about even

Credit to Lord's as well with 400 schoolchildren in the ground creating a wonderful atmosphere and they are allowed on the outfield during the interval.

  14. Lunch scores round-uppublished at 13:14 British Summer Time 24 May

    Division One

    Durham v Somerset 84-5

    Hampshire v Surrey 89-4

    Kent v Essex 102-0

Lancashire v Warwickshire - no play before lunch

Worcestershire v Nottinghamshire - no play before lunch

    Division Two

    Gloucestershire v Derbyshire 126-3

    Leicestershire v Glamorgan 96-1

    Middlesex v Sussex 92-3

    Northamptonshire v Yorkshire 90-1

  15. Lunch at Northamptonpublished at 13:11 British Summer Time 24 May

    Northants v Yorkshire 90-1

    Justin BroadImage source, Getty Images

The wicket of Finlay Bean will make Northamptonshire feel a little better after seeing Yorkshire's openers post a stand of 86 after being asked to bat first.

Bean was bowled through the gate for 18 by Justin Broad, but in-form Adam Lyth remains on 57 not out and has now been joined by captain Shan Masood.

No Joe Root or Harry Brook in the Yorkshire side for this game, so these two may be key to their chances of a big first-innings total.

  16. Lunch at Chester LSpublished at 13:06 British Summer Time 24 May

    Durham v Somerset 84-5

Very much Durham's morning at the Riverside after asking Somerset to bat first on a greenish wicket.

Five wickets during the session represents an excellent return for the home side, with Ben Stokes claiming 2-34 from eight impressive overs.

Tom Banton has not looked in much trouble in making 25 not out, but Somerset need someone to stay with him in the hope of building a sizeable partnership.

  17. WICKET Smith b Neser 18published at 13:04 British Summer Time 24 May

    Hants v Surrey 89-4

Michael Neser comes to the party with another big wicket and that's lunch!

He knocks back Jamie Smith's off-stump for his first Hampshire wicket with the final ball of the session to make that very much the home side's morning.

But no prizes for guessing the man of the morning at Southampton.

Liam Dawson was brought on after just eight overs and has removed Dom Sibley, Ollie Pope and then Rory Burns.

The former England slow left armer lunches with superb figures of 3-18 from 11 overs.

  18. Lunch at Canterburypublished at 13:04 British Summer Time 24 May

    Kent v Essex 102-0

A torrid morning for Kent ends on a low as Wes Agar leaves the field with what looks like a shoulder injury sustained during a diving stop in the field.

A good toss to win, sure, but Dean Elgar (52*) and Nick Browne (39*) have built a solid platform in the Canterbury sunshine.

An afternoon of toil awaits for Kent, one would imagine.

  19. 'Very poor shot selection from Rew'published at 13:03 British Summer Time 24 May

    Durham v Somerset 76-5

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

The last thing Somerset wanted was another wicket before lunch and James Rew is out for 13 but when you don't even offer a shot...

It jagged in a little bit but it was always angling in it was coming from round the wicket, it didn't do anything excessive, it was just very poor shot selection there from Rew.

  20. Lunch at Bristolpublished at 13:03 British Summer Time 24 May

    Gloucestershire v Derbyshire 126-3

A very productive morning for Derbyshire in terms of runs scored, but they won't be thrilled about the loss of three wickets.

Brooke Guest blocks out a maiden from Ajeet Singh Dale to end the morning in marked contrast to Derbyshire's approach after deciding to bat first.

They have collected 19 boundaries between them and Matthew Lamb is 32 not out at the interval, with Guest on 31.

Beau Webster has two of the wickets taken by the home side.
