  1. 50 runs

50 for Nick Brownepublished at 14:28 British Summer Time 24 May

    Kent v Essex 134-0

Dean Elgar launches Marcus O'Riordan back over his head and that off sub-fielder Tawanda Muyeye to bring up his ninth four. A rare expansive shot but no real danger.

The next over starts with Nick Browne on strike and he wasted no time in clipping Joey Evison away for a couple to bring up his half-century from 128 balls with just three fours. That's his 32nd in first class cricket.

He posted 150 here last April. He'll have another century in his sights, it's fair to say.

  2. Postpublished at 14:26 British Summer Time 24 May

    Durham v Somerset 114-7

Peter Siddle comes bustling in for another over.

Migael Pretorius plays a controlled pull shot which evades the diving fielder at long leg and brings him four runs.

This is a handy partnership, but Somerset need it to go on a lot, lot longer.

  3. 50 for Eddie Byrompublished at 14:21 British Summer Time 24 May

    Leics v Glam 134-2

It's been tough, battling innings and a fair few lifelines have been used along the way but Eddie Byrom brings up his fifty off 111 balls.

It comes with a four down to fine leg off Scott Currie, just three balls after that drop by Peter Hansdcomb.

His previous best score this year in six innings was 30.

A 16th first-class half-century for the Zimbabwean opener and not many of them will have been tougher than this one.

  4. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 14:20 British Summer Time 24 May

    Leics v Glam 130-2

Eddie Byrom survives again on 49.

He edges Scott Currie to Peter Handscomb at second slip. It comes comfortably at tummy height and the Australian gets it in both hands. But out it pops.

  5. Postpublished at 14:19 British Summer Time 24 May

    Durham v Somerset 108-7

Tom Banton pushes the ball to mid-off. No run.

The umpires, though, decide to take a look at the ball and after seeing whether it will fit through the handcuff-shaped device they carry, they call for alternatives to be brought to the middle.

Ben Stokes tosses it to Banton so he can take a look before giving it a vigorous polish down the back of the troosers.

  6. wicket

WICKET Clark c Brown b Abbottpublished at 14:17 British Summer Time 24 May

    Hants v Surrey 106-7

What a spell from Kyle Abbott!

The South African gets one to bounce a little and Jordan Clark gets a very thin edge behind to Ben Brown.

That's three wickets after lunch and awesome figures of 3-8 off 7.2 overs.

  7. Postpublished at 14:17 British Summer Time 24 May

    Lancs v Warwickshire 4-0

George Balderson's first ball finds a thick edge off Alex Davies' bat which flies past the diving George Bell at third slip and races away to the rope to get Warwickshire off the mark.

Heart-in-mouth stuff, but they are off and running...

  8. Postpublished at 14:15 British Summer Time 24 May

    Durham v Somerset 108-7

Somerset reach three figures at the Riverside as Tom Banton plays Peter Siddle to mid-wicket and calls for a single.

Migael Pretorius drives the final ball of the over aerially through extra cover for four and he is now 15 not out, with Tom Banton on 32.

  9. Play begins at Old Traffordpublished at 14:11 British Summer Time 24 May

    Lancs v Warwickshire 0-0

Rob Yates and Alex Davies stride out at Old Trafford, with Tom Bailey taking the new ball as we are under way, better late than never, especially for the hundreds of local school children who are spending the day at the ground.

One of those days when the 12th man gets RSI from autograph signing. Inspiring the next generation. Wonderful to see.

  10. Postpublished at 14:10 British Summer Time 24 May

    Hants v Surrey 104-6

Surrey new man Jordan Clark almost goes!

He looks to get on top of Kyle Abbott with a big booming drive to his second ball and almost chops on to his leg stump. How did that miss?

    Wicket maiden.

  11. 50 runs

50 for Matthew Lambpublished at 14:10 British Summer Time 24 May

    Glos v Derbyshire 150-3

Matthew Lamb steers Marchant de Lange away square for four and then clips the next ball through the leg-side for another boundary to reach his second 50 of the season off 71 balls.

He adds a single in the same over to take the Derbyshire total to 150.

  12. Postpublished at 14:10 British Summer Time 24 May

    Kent v Essex 117-0

That chat among Kent's senior players has led to a helmet coming out and Marcus O'Riordan returning with his off spin from the Pavilion End.

Will Grant Stewart be switching ends or will we see dual-spin from opposite ends, one leggy, one offy?

  13. wicket

WICKET Foakes b Abbott 14published at 14:07 British Summer Time 24 May

    Hants v Surrey 104-6

    Surrey in big trouble here.

A loose shot from Ben Foakes as he attempts a drive off Kyle Abbott through the covers.

The ball jags back between bat and pad and takes out the middle stump.

Loose shot and a second wicket for Abbott since lunch.

Surrey have lost five wickets for 40 runs.

  14. Postpublished at 14:05 British Summer Time 24 May

    Glos v Derbys 141-3

One of the day's quieter patches of play at the moment at Bristol.

Following a Marchant de Lange maiden, the next over - from Beau Webster - yields only a single and leg bye.

Derbyshire won't mind that, though. Matt Lamb is 44 not out and Brooke Guest has 33 - their partnership is now worth 72.

  15. Postpublished at 14:02 British Summer Time 24 May

    Kent v Essex 114-0

Daniel Bell-Drummond, Zak Crawley, Matt Parkinson and Grant Stewart hold a brain trust meeting at the Pavilion End. How do they break this partnership?

Wes Agar remains off the field after picking up a shoulder injury on the stroke of lunch.

Essex have moved on to 114-0. Kent searching for answers. At present, it's Essex who have the answers for everything. Nick Browne has crawled to 40* while Dean Elgar is on 64* from 107 balls.

  16. Postpublished at 14:00 British Summer Time 24 May

    Northants v Yorks 100-1

Yorkshire reach 100 from the final ball of the 33rd over at Wantage Road as Adam Lyth drives Jack White through mid-on for four.

That was a top-quality shot and Lyth advances to 61 not out, with partner Shan Masood on five.

  17. What a start for Durham after lunchpublished at 13:58 British Summer Time 24 May

    Somerset 86-7 v Durham

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Peter Siddle walked off the field earlier today after appearing to have picked up some kind of niggle. But he was back to take the first over after lunch and ended up on a hat-trick.

Somerset skipper Lewis Gregory is celebrating his 32nd birthday today. He wafted at the fourth ball and edged to the keeper to fall for a six-ball duck. Craig Overton was then bowled first ball, but Migael Pretorius saw off the hat-trick ball.

  18. wicket

WICKET Labuschagne b Currie 8published at 13:56 British Summer Time 24 May

    Leics v Glam 107-2

    Marnus LabuschagneImage source, Rex Features

Leicestershire are beginning to get a foothold into this game after they get Glamorgan's big fish Marnus Labuschagne for eight.

He decides to leave a ball from Scott Currie which moves back in a little and takes his off-stump. A misjudgment from the Australian and big wicket for the hosts.

    Kiran Carlson is in.

  19. Play to begin at Old Traffordpublished at 13:55 British Summer Time 24 May

    Lancashire v Warwickshire (14:10 BST)

Good news, at last, from a brighter looking Old Trafford. Play will begin in just under 20 minutes from now.

Warwickshire have won the toss and will bat first.

Tom Bailey and Jack Morley replace Will Williams and Saqib Mahmood for the hosts. No Sam Hain for the visitors.

  20. 100 up for Surreypublished at 13:55 British Summer Time 24 May

    Hants v Surrey 103-5

Ben Foakes pulls Keith Barker square and it goes all the way for four to bring up three figures in the 34th over.

Surrey remain on the back foot, having been 64-1 at one point, but Foakes looks in good nick early on and moves to 13.
