The problem that Ben Stokes may have is Ravindra Jadeja, the left-arm spinner. He'll have to dig in because he may end up having to reverse sweep everything.

Association of Cricket Statisticians & Historians: The most runs added after the fall of the fifth wicket is 278 by Australia at Lord's 2009, thanks to Michael Clarke and Brad Haddin rescuing them from 128-5 - although they still lost by 115. So England will have to break a record in order just to lose by anything less than 200...

Two slips in to Jamie Smith and both have their hands on their heads as Jamie Smith plays and misses at one from Akash Deep.

The crowd is equally animated. Every delivery is greeted with either a cheer or an "oooooh".

Akash Deep is 2-8 this morning and 4-44 in 11 overs in the innings. The last time someone bowled four of England's top five without any fielder assistance was Michael Holding in 1976.

Not sure I've seen a more pathetic England performance than this. And I watched through my fingers in the 1980s. No fight, no nous, no clue.

So India's selection was questioned on day one. Their bowlers would struggle to take 20 wickets. Without Jasprit Bumrah, the bowling attack would struggle. Some analysts will be eating a very big portion of humble pie.

For me the extra cover in place is a waste of position. Ben Stokes wants to strike there. You've got so many runs to play with as an Indian side that you can have more catchers, try something new. If England get a few that's fine, you want to tempt them to play big shots so you can catch them off guard.

    England need 516 runs

Ben Stokes picks up his first boundary with a flick through mid-wicket.

He takes a defensive approach for the remainder of the over, twice shouldering arms and shadowing batting in between deliveries.

Akash Deep is the type of bowler that, with the slope at Lord's, could certainly be a handful.

At this rate 31 minutes will be too late for England...

Jamie Smith defends two balls before getting his innings up and running with a four. Nicely timed.

Brilliant bowling. Akash Deep and Mohammed Siraj have been the absolute stars this week with what they can do with the ball on this surface, unlike England. That ball seamed back along way.

England fans can calm down, Jamie Smith has just stepped out, cool as a cucumber.

England are five down. It stayed low, struck Harry Brook on the knee, and is clipping the top of middle stump - umpire's call.

Akash Deep has his fourth wicket. Out comes Jamie Smith.

It's that ball that nips back. India are absolutely convinced. That's a brilliant delivery, Akash Deep is a brilliant bowler.

India have had a bit of a dream start. They'll be feeling as if they're still in the driving seat. Akash Deep has been bowling well, he's had good line and length.

Once again, he finds a little bit of bounce. A maiden.

Think I'm now at the point of wanting England to get skittled so we can all get on with our Sundays.

New batting tactic, reverse order, send out the English bowlers to tire the Indian bowlers by batting dismally slow and defensive, then Ben Stokes and Jamie Smith can pick apart a tired bowling attack. Call it tireball.

Ben Stokes, out for 0 (1) in the first innings, avoids a king pair. A mis-field allows him to get off the mark first ball and pick up two.

He finishes the over with a single to retain the strike.

India need a further six wickets to level the series.

What a moment - India were looking for that. You thought it would've been Akash Deep to get those wickets and he's done it. He got a bit of bounce and got it to jag back. He'll want to make the most of this spell.

This is where the real test is for England.
