There's a bit of movement around the covers and the sky is looking brighter over Edgbaston.

Play had been expected to restart at 12:30 BST but another wave of showers set in as the umpires finished their inspection.

I agree with Steven Finn (@11.06). Jack Carson is a better bowler, batter (significantly) and fielder than Bashir. Maybe my county bias is speaking but surely it's a no brainer...

    Luke, West Sussex

Tom Haines has been doing very well at the top of the order for Sussex over the past couple of seasons and with the Lions. Deserves a shot.

    Dan in Eastbourne

Assuming the top seven stay the same, I think England will go with Sam Cook, Jofra Archer, Chris Woakes and Shoaib Bashir at Lord's.

I can't have Archer and Gus Atkinson.

Just saw a Tiktok of Sean Longstaff getting a wicket yesterday for Tynemouth CC. Looked very handy, let's get him in.

    Asif Khan, London

Tom Banton and Tom Kohler-Cadmore both deserve a chance in the Test side. They have all the attributes needed for Bazball and are both in form. Or for a left field choice Sean Longstaff, I see he's been in the wickets recently himself!

    Neil in Plymouth

I've watched a lot of George Balderson over the past few years. A good change bowler for Lancashire and he's scored runs in the top and middle order (admittedly inconsistently).

I'd like to see him given a crack in a Lions squad before too long. I think he made a training camp a few years ago...

Sentimentally, it would've been great to see a county stalwart like Ben Raine in the Test side.

Watch out for Ben Kellaway of Glamorgan.. averages over 40 with the bat and under 30 with the ball in county cricket, only 21 and bowls right and left handed !

    Oliver - Cardiff

He has been mentioned previously, but no un-capped player has impressed me more this summer than Ben Kellaway at Glamorgan.

    Andrew in Bideford

A lot of Ben Kellaway fans out there...

Right, back to selecting our uncapped XI for the third Test at Lord's.

Who'll be joining Edward from Worcester and Tony's Grandma at the Home of Cricket?

We've had plenty of interesting suggestions so far.

    Yep, it's raining again.

Those in the stands are heading for cover.

Had this not arrived we'd have restarted at 12:30 BST. That suggests the ground is drying quickly.

  9. Postpublished at 11:59 British Summer Time 6 July

On Test Match Special, Jonathan Agnew has said it'll be a 12:30 BST start if there is no further rain.

Almost immediately, umbrellas and rain ponchos spring up in the crowd. Ah well.

The covers are being rolled back out. It looks like the rain is looming again.

If you fancy some rain delay reading, earlier this week BBC Sport's Adam Lanigan took a look at the impact of the Kookaburra ball on the County Championship.

You can read his piece here.

I know he is not uncapped but I would love to see Sam Curran given another shot. Not sure if he’s just out of favour with Bazball. But his ability to swing the ball and bring the stumps into play is something I think we’re missing. (Not to mention his past prowess against India!)

    Ben in the Philippines

I know he's not uncapped but Rehan Ahmed has come back as a specialist batsman this season. Three centuries and a fifty already.

    Paul in Leicester

Not uncapped, however I’d have Dom Sibley back for Crawley (he’s reworked his game and seems more aggressive) and Rew in for Pope (taking the gloves and pushing Smith up to 3).

    Tom in the Shires

Ben Coad should’ve had a crack. Consistently Yorkshire best bowler over the few years.

    Jimmy, Leeds

Dom Leech of Yorkshire could play. He can hopefully suck some life out of these dead pitches. Leech pun in case you missed that.

    Kevin, South Shields

Don't worry Kevin, we got it.

Funny you mention Emilio Gay, Owen (@11.37). He actually made his international T20 debut yesterday....for Italy.

The Italians are up attempting to qualify for their first T20 World Cup and currently in The Hague looking to secure one of the final two spots on offer for European sides at next year's tournament in India and Sri Lanka.

Italy eased to a win over Guernsey yesterday (Gay made eight off four balls) and face Jersey today - albeit the weather looks set to paid to that one - before they meet Scotland and the Netherlands next week.

I spoke to Italy captain Joe Burns - yes, THAT Joe Burns - about potentially skippering the Azzurri at the next World Cup.

You can read more about that here...

  17. Inspection at 11:45 BSTpublished at 11:40 British Summer Time 6 July

    Matthew Henry
    BBC Sport journalist at Edgbaston

In the time it has taken me to eat a sandwich, the sun has come out at Edgbaston.

The groundstaff are working hard to remove the puddles. There'll be an inspection at 11:45 BST.

    Jonathan Agnew
BBC Chief Cricket Commentator on Test Match Special

I think England have got a lot of problems going into Lord's. Part of their issue is that they've had no cutting edge bowlers coming into these games due to injuries. The ball's been soft and the pitch has been flat which also makes it hard.

The question is what are they going to do going into Lord's? It looks like they are going to have to pick Jofra Archer. Yes he hasn't played a lot of Test cricket recently but the only way to get that fitness up is to be in a match situation.

I would like to nominate Emilio Gay, be has been in great form this year for Durham

    Owen in Bedford

James Coles having a great season for Sussex. Also handy spin bowler

    Ollie in Oxford

Calvin Harrison at Northants, a leg-spinner moved up to 3 in the batting order and just racked up his first ton doing so. Now where have I seen that before! Could be a future great...

    Will in Sidmouth

I would say Craig Overton is potentially someone who could come in.

Sam Cook and Jacob Bethell should've also been given a chance to throw the ball about a bit.
