Brilliant stuff from Washington Sundar. He has generated the most drift throughout the match, averaging 3° and 3.5° in the two innings respectively, while the other spinners managed just 1.6° on average. The delivery that got Ben Stokes out lbw drifted 5.3° into him — the second-highest drift recorded for a delivery by a spinner in this match.

Whilst India have played better than England from the start, they also have had the rub of the green on umpires calls. The delivery that dismissed Harry Brook was adjudged to be out, whereas the multiple shouts that Chris Woakes had in the first innings were adjudged not out.

Can't remember a home Test versus India when we have never been in the game and outbowled by seam.... In shock!

England could concede now at lunch as they can't salvage a draw. Last four wickets no chance of surviving 50+ overs

That's the first time Washington Sundar has got he line right to Ben Stokes. It started out going off stump and it slowly drifted in at the end and flicked the pad. Excellent call by the umpire.

That's a massive blow for England because now they lose that key partnership that were just getting started.

    Thanks, Elizabeth.

That's the first England wicket to fall spin in the Test. In fact it's the first wicket to fall to an India bowler not called 'Siraj' or 'Deep'.

Hard to see this match ending in anything but an India victory with the weather fine for the rest of the day. Unless England can produce the greatest rear-guard action since the Alamo.

  7. Lunch - Eng 153-6published at 40.3 overs

Following the wicket of Ben Stokes, lunch has been taken.

England are 153-6 and need 455 runs to win. More importantly, India need four wickets to win.

Here's Timothy Abraham to guide you through lunch and the afternoon session.

What a wicket that is. The one man that really looked to be playing extremely well, playing shots. India's food will taste a lot better.

On the stroke of lunch, Ben Stokes is out lbw.

Delight for India. They're four wickets away from levelling the series.

India's players erupt. Ben Stokes has been given out lbw.

Stokes is gobsmacked. He sends it upstairs.

The sweepers have been an interesting call because the runs literally do not matter to India. They might as well have a fielder in every position that the ball could go into rather than stopping runs. All they need to do is get five wickets.

England are just playing the situation, there's nothing reckless about what they've done, it's all been calculated. Obviously they have played some shots but they've been the right ones and that's what's important.

Shubman Gill has chucked the ball to Washington Sundar.

Ben Stokes and Jamie Smith pick up a single each.

We'll probably have one over before lunch. Although it is Ravindra Jadeja, so this could be a swift one.

  17. Eng 151-5published at 38 overs

    England need 457 runs

I really like that analogy, Vineet.

Ben Stokes has started sweeping Ravindra Jadeja. 150 up for England.

Gill can afford to be a bit more extravagant with his fields. He is a millionaire right now with the runs he has got in his bank but behaving stingy for some reason.

Shubman Gill has two slips for Ben Stokes but there's no other fielders within what you'd call the 30-yard circle in white-ball cricket. Is he trying to tempt the England captain?
