Summary

  1. Pak 118-2published at 27.3 overs

Wooof! Muhammad Rizwan baseballs a shot off Mohammed Shami to Shubman Gill fielding at mid-wicket, the ball flies to him at rapid pace and doesn't quite carry. Would have been some catch!

This is so strange from Pakistan. 99 dot balls, it's like they've said, right we've had enough now. Finally they're putting some pressure on the bowlers.

It gives you something to get up for.

  3. Pak 116-2published at 11:06 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February

Nine off the over, Pakistan finding third gear after a really stodgy middle spell to the innings. Bon Jovi cranks up in the middle of Dubai, naturally.

I was surprised to see Pakistan chose to bat first after winning the toss. There is no real advantage to batting first on this track. In fact, with dew coming into play later, this looks like a poor decision.

  7. Pak 113-2published at 26.2 overs

Shakeel, oh kneel! Great shot again to end the over as the opener gets down on one knee to whip away for four.

Muhammad Rizwan gets on the act with the first ball of the next over and batters Ravindra Jadeja for four over midwicket.

    Runs flowing now...

Pakistan are really struggling for boundaries here. India are bowling well but Pakistan need to find an answer, their run rate is going down.

You feel like they might be able to rotate the strike more with these sweep shots they keep playing.

We've come to expect not particularly inflated scores on this pitch.

Pakistan need to get on with it now. 95 dot balls is a lot.

  13. How's stat?!published at 11:00 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February

Thanks Elizabeth! That four from Mohammad Rizwan was Pakistan's first boundary since the first ball of the 16th over.

It's been a bit of a slog on account of there not being many slogs. Let's hope they step it up a bit eh?

  14. Pak 99-2published at 25 overs

At the halfway mark, Pakistan are 99-2.

Muhammad Rizwan has broken their boundary drought. Will there be more fireworks to come?

Here's Tom Rostance to take you through the next 25 overs.

  15. Pak 98-2published at 24.2 overs

Four for Muhammad Rizwan! A flat sweep down on one knee. Lovely.

  16. Not out - Pak 94-2published at 24 overs

Not out. Saud Shakeel was safely home.

Good urgency from the Pakistan batter. More of that, please.

  17. Umpire reviewpublished at 24 overs

A direct hit. Is Saud Shakeel out there?

There's no let up with this bowling attack.

  19. Pak 90-2published at 23 overs

Ravindra Jadeja really motors through his overs. He clearly didn't go to the Hardik Pandya school of nonchalance.

Four from it, including that three from Saud Shakeel.

  20. Pak 89-2published at 22.4 overs

Saud Shakeel runs three?! It's more out of necessity than enthusiasm with the ball once again getting stuck in the slow outfield.

I always hated running three (on those rare occasions that my bat connected with the ball...).
