These are opportunities that Pakistan are missing. Saud Shakeel has let go a bouncer that wasn't such a tough ball to play. He's then let the next one go straight to the keeper. These are relatively low risk shots.

  2. Pak 63-2published at 15 overs

Mohammad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel take a single apiece as the scoreboard continues to move at a glacial pace.

Of course, we're only 15 overs into the innings, so there's plenty of time for Pakistan to kick on, but my word, this is slow going.

It's gone really flat out there.

What can Pakistan do at this stage? At times, playing the ball with positive intent can calm you down. This pause should bring the question up to this pair. The rhythm has gone in this partnership, they look deflated.

To win this competition they need to be bossing it. At the moment they are just surviving.

While the players take a break, why not relive Imam-ul-Haq's exit...

Axar Patel's fielding gets better every time I look at it.

    Drinks - Pak 61-2published at 14 overs

India are nine minutes behind the over rate as the players take drinks.

It has been a slow first 14 overs from both sides. Mohammad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel are trying to rebuild for Pakistan after losing two powerplay wickets but the runs have rather dried up.

Pakistan want to keep doing routine stuff, rotate the strike, keep getting runs but they can't afford to lose anymore wickets.

  8. Pak 59-2published at 13 overs

Another quiet over, with a single for Saud Shakeel the only movement on the scoreboard.

Will the boundary pressure start to tell for Pakistan soon?

It would've been interesting to see how Pakistan's batters would've played against Jasprit Bumrah.

  10. Pak 58-2published at 12.2 overs

Rarely has an umpire looked more unmoved than Richard Illingworth.

Hardik Pandya puts his hand to his ear in a polite appeal for caught behind but there isn't even a flicker of interest from the sunglasses-clad umpire.

I got chatting to a couple of local police officers while waiting for a lift back to the hotel after England's defeat by Australia last night.

Through some broken English I learned they are not totally enamoured with this current Pakistan team.

Babar? Past it. Shaheen? Always injured. The management? Get them out.

The only player they said anything positive about is Fakhar Zaman and he's injured.

This is a critical period where Pakistan can't afford to hit the snooze button but they also can't lose anymore wickets. This partnership will have to try and find a rhythm.

  13. Pak 58-2published at 12 overs

A good return from Mohammed Shami. Just three singles off the over.

  14. Postpublished at 10:01 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February

Hardik Pandya made the breakthrough for India in the ninth over, removing Babar Azam.

Judging by his celebration, he was pretty happy about it.

Mohammed Shami is back into the attack for India.

  16. Pak 55-2published at 11 overs

So far, Mohammad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel are taking Ramiz Raja's call for common sense and patience (09.55) on board.

Three runs and no histrionics from the 11th over.

This is one of the biggest rivalries in international cricket and it’s quite evident from audience numbers at the moment. More than 90 million people are watching the match on JioHotstar app - the official OTT platform that is showing the match in India. And this does not include the people who are watching on TV.

  20. Pak 52-2published at 10 overs

    Rizwan 4, Saud 3

It's the end of the powerplay.

Pakistan have gone past 50 but they've lost both of their openers.

    Advantage India early on.
