Summary

  1. England win by 241 runs to clinch the seriespublished at 18:29 British Summer Time 21 July
    Breaking

That is some performance from England with the ball.

This match looked destined to go to a fifth day with all results still possible, especially after an opening stand of 61 between Kraigg Brathwaite and Mikyle Louis to begin the West Indies chase.

But the home side stuck at it, found the breakthrough and once they did, the tourists capitulated as the bowlers kept the pressure on.

England take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series and will go for the sweep at Edgbaston next week.

    S Joseph b Bashir 8 (WI 143 all out)

Bowled 'im! Shoaib Bashir gets his five-for to seal a comprehensive win for England.

Flighted delivery and just a bit of turn to beat Shamar Joseph as he aims another violent swipe leg side.

Superb from the young England off-spinner. Remember this is the first home Test he's actually bowled in and he's ended with seven wickets in the match.

This will dampen the West Indies spirit, of course it will. But there were some real green shoots over the last three and a half days.

They'll have taken encouragement from Hodge's hundred, Athanaze played well. But that doesn't guarantee they will play well the next time - you can't expect anything, it'll be a real learning experience for them.

  4. WI 143-9published at 36 overs

England need one wicket to win

Having swung and missed - by a considerable distance - the first three balls of the over, Shamar Joseph connects with the fourth.

It's a clean connection, too, back down the ground for four.

Another play and miss is followed by a pull shot for one. On we go...

  5. WI 138-9published at 35 overs

England need one wicket to win

With both tailenders intent on swinging the bat, England have got a number of fielders in the deep on the leg side.

Jayden Seales almost picks one out but just about gets the placement he needs to survive. Five singles from the over.

    Nearly!

Another beauty from Shoaib Bashir. Drift, dip and then turn to beat Shamar Joseph.

  7. WI 133-9published at 34 overs

England need one wicket to win

Gus Atkinson gets one to fizz past Jayden Seales' outside edge but the West Indies left-hander survives.

Back over to Shoaib Bashir, who has the chance of a five-for...

Really feel for the Windies here. So much spirit and fight shown in reaction to last week just to let it slip at the crunch end of the match. This match, and those lads, deserved a tighter finish than this.

He outthought Jason Holder. Darting it in, great line from Bashir, he's been absolutely brilliant today.

A little nod to the England selectors, they really see something in this 21-year-old.

    Holder b Bashir 37 (WI 129-9)

What a response from Shoaib Bashir!

With Jason Holder looking for a single to keep strike, Bashir fires on in a bit quicker and beats the West Indies all-rounder on the outside edge as he tried to open the face.

The ball clatters into off stump and Bashir, who has been fantastic this afternoon, wheels away in celebration.

He hits the ball hard, doesn't he? That wasn't too far over Bashir's head, but it wasn't catchable at all.

  14. 6 runs

    WI 128-8published at 32.4 overs

Jason Holder is going to go down fighting.

The ball is tossed up by Shoaib Bashir and the Holder hammers it over long-off for six.

Four this time. Hit flatter but back over the bowler's head for four.

I just didn't see a collapse quite like this coming, the wicket didn't seem to have it in it, the West Indies had shown resilience. This England unit has played a very ruthless brand of cricket.

  16. WI 118-8published at 32 overs

Jayden Seales was on a pair but gets off it first ball as an inside edge shoots into the leg side to earn him a single.

A boundary ends the over as Jason Holder drives at a tempter from Gus Atkinson and the outside edge goes low and wide of the slips for four.

Meanwhile, we've just seen a replay of vice-captain Ollie Pope jokingly telling Ben Stokes to stay off the pitch after England took two wickets in three balls without the skipper on the field.

Bowled 'im! Two in the over for Gus Atkinson!

Ben Stokes celebrates in the dressing room as the ball stays low to make a mess of Alzarri Joseph's stumps.

The West Indian played back and the ball when straight through him.

Stokes quickly gets himself back onto the field with England closing in on a series win.

Decent delivery, just trapping him on the crease. Scuttling through, jagged back, right in front of all three.

England have seized after a really good start from the West Indies. After starting positively and trying to the bad balls, they've fallen away rather quickly.

  20. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 31.1 overs

Da Silva lbw b Atkinson 14 (WI 113-7)

Umpire's call but hitting a hefty chunk of middle stump.

Good delivery from Gus Atkinson. Quick and skidding on to trap Josh Da Silva on the crease.

England are three wickets away. This could all be over tonight.
