Jimmy Anderson's had his feet up for the best part of a day-and-a-half and now after that brief cameo, he has the ball in his hand.

Cameron Bancroft takes a single off his third ball before left-hander Ben Charlesworth is beaten by a beauty that goes across him from the last ball.

Notts are showing no sign of wanting to declare.

James goes to 150 which is 14 runs short of equalling his previous best.

  3. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:07 British Summer Time 23 July

    Davey lbw b Parkinson 4 (Somerset 13-1 - Target 86)

Somerset have begun their chase positively with a six and a four in the first two overs, but makeshift opener Josh Davey is out.

He tries to sweep left-arm spinner Callum Parkinson, misses and is adjudged LBW.

Still, Durham will need a few more of those, and very quickly, to duly worry Somerset.

    Hartley c Bancroft b Charlesworth 130 (Gloucestershire v Lancashire 557 all out)

Tom Hartley really had some fun after reaching his century, plundering 29 more runs in just eight balls to end on 130 after holing out to Ben Charlesworth in search of another big hit.

Still having come to the crease at 302-8 in the third over this morning, he has done an outstanding job for himself and his team.

He batted for 153 balls and hit 14 fours and six sixes, and shared that stand of 212 with Chris Green for the ninth wicket.

He put on 43 for that last wicket with Jimmy Anderson, who ends two not out!

  5. 400 up for Essexpublished at 14:57 British Summer Time 23 July

    Sussex 204 v Essex 400-5

When you're in the relegation zone (if they do end up relegating anyone this season) every point counts and Essex are one short of taking the lot.

Michael Pepper hits Ari Karvelas for four to bring up the 400.

  6. 'A terrific performance from Critchley'published at 14:55 British Summer Time 23 July

    Sussex 204 v Essex 396-5

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

A very fine innings indeed from Matt Critchley coming in last night with the night-watchman, he had to survive a little spell at the end of the day but he's come through that.

    A terrific performance.

  7. 6 runs

Eddie Jack to Brett Hutton...erm...six more.

Four sixes off the seamer now.

  8. 50 runs

50 partnershippublished at 14:53 British Summer Time 23 July

    Sussex 204 v Essex 395-5

Michael Pepper has joined Matt Critchley and up comes the 50 stand for the sixth wicket.

Essex could be targeting maximum batting points at Hove.

They have plenty of overs to score another 55 runs.

  9. 100 runs

100 for Tom Hartleypublished at 14:51 British Summer Time 23 July

    Gloucestershire v Lancashire 545-9

A special moment for Tom Hartley as he raises his bat for the first time to mark a century.

He dashes from 89 to 101 in three Ben Charlesworth balls as he goes four, six, two to reach the landmark off 145 balls.

After a difficult period in his career, this is a fine comeback.

  10. wicket

DURHAM ALL OUT FOR 190published at 14:51 British Summer Time 23 July

    Raine c Banton b Vaughan 36 (Somerset 250 v Durham 145 & 190 all out)

Ben Raine can't resist trying to hit Archie Vaughan for another six but the off-spinner has his revenge with the catch taken at mid-off, well inside the boundary.

Durham's innings is over and Somerset will require 86 to win.

Jack Leach finishes with 6-63 and young accomplice Vaughan 4-85 as the spinners share all 10 wickets in this second innings.

  11. 50 runs

50 up for Derbyshirepublished at 14:48 British Summer Time 23 July

    Derbys 54-1 v Leics 398

It's not been spectacular but Derbyshire are building a decent platform and up comes the 50.

  12. 6 runs

Postpublished at 14:47 British Summer Time 23 July

    Hants v Notts 459-7

    Eddie Jack isn't learning.

He drops another one short and Lyndon James takes on the challenge and lifts it into the seats for the sixth time in his innings of 140 not out.

If Jack is being told to bowl short then it's a thankless task because James is aiming at the shortest boundary.

James' highest first class score is 164 not out by the way...

  13. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:45 British Summer Time 23 July

    Barnard c & b Finch 14 (Warwickshire 66-5 v Worcestershire 333)

    Another one down!

Ed Barnard drives the ball straight back into the hands of bowler Adam Finch who gratefully takes the catch.

The former Pear looks extremely disappointed with his choice of shot before trudging off.

Beau Webster is on 37 not out and is comfortably the Bears' highest scorer at present.

  14. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:45 British Summer Time 23 July

    Green b Charlesworth 160 (Gloucestershire v Lancashire 514-9)

Bowled him! Chris Green goes for another big shot, this time off part-timer Ben Charlesworth and has his stumps disturbed.

Still, a magnificent 160 for the Australian, a personal best, which has put Lancashire in a terrific spot and a record ninth-wicket partnership of 212 for the county.

But with Tom Hartley not out on 89, Jimmy Anderson comes out to try to help his team-mate to three figures.

  15. Postpublished at 14:45 British Summer Time 23 July

    Sussex 204 v Essex 384-5

Henry Crocombe serves up a short one outside off stump and Matt Critchley belts it to the rope for four runs.

Crocombe over compensates and arrows the next one onto middle and leg and Critchley drives it to the long-off fence.

It's not just Crocombe but some of this Sussex bowling has been ill-disciplined to say the least.

  16. New ball!published at 14:44 British Summer Time 23 July

    Somerset 250 v Durham 145 & 190-9

We are going to have a change of ball.

Not because Somerset are complaining about the previous one, but because Ben Raine has just smashed it out of Taunton.

A second maximum from Archie Vaughan's over as Raine moves to 36, the same score he managed yesterday.

Durham's lead creeps up to 85. Can they get it to 100?

  17. 450 up for Nottspublished at 14:43 British Summer Time 23 July

    Hants v Notts 452-7

Nottinghamshire reach maximum batting points and with Surrey not having it their way at Yorkshire how crucial could that be in the title race?

  18. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 14:41 British Summer Time 23 July

    Hants v Notts 448-7

A fourth catch hits the grass for Hampshire.

Nick Gubbins can't hang on and Lyndon James survives for a second time in his innings.

  19. 100 runs

He's helping to take Essex into a winning position and Matt Critchley has just continued where Jordan Cox left off.

Critchley reaches an 11th first class century from 152 balls with nine fours and four sixes.

He may still have a say with the ball later in the game as well.

  20. rain stops play

Rain stops play in Scarboroughpublished at 14:39 British Summer Time 23 July

    Yorkshire 376-5 v Surrey

Unfortunately the covers are coming on as the rain arrives at North Marine Road.

A pity as it was good cricket so far today.

We had just gone past the 110-over mark, so the end of bonus points.

Yorkshire claim three for batting, but only one with the ball for Surrey.
