    The seagulls liked that shot.

  2. AUs 43-1published at 20.2 overs

Annabel Sutherland with a stylish off drive for four after coming down the pitch to meet Sophie Ecclestone on the full.

We think that's today attendance, and not a seagull count. Though we can't be sure.

  4. Aus 38-1published at 20 overs

We've got time for one, maybe two, more overs at the MCG. It depends on how quickly Sophie Ecclestone can get through these next six deliveries and whether Australia's batters decide to delay matters.

    That's well bowled, tough decision.

  6. Sutherland survivespublished at 19.4 overs

But the ball-tracking technology shows it's going down leg side.

  7. England reviewpublished at 19.4 overs

No bat involved. Height looks good...

  8. England reviewpublished at 19.4 overs

Ryana MacDonald-Gay hits Annabel Sutherland flush on the knee roll, but it looks to be sliding down leg.

    Given not on field.

Very late decision by Heather Knight to take this upstairs.

All this talk of seagulls is triggering bad memories of an avian attack on my ice cream in Lyme Regis recently. Vicious brutes!

  10. Aus 38-1published at 19 overs

Sophie Ecclestone has found a tricky length and so far Phoebe Litchfield has played it safe.

Off the final delivery of the England left-arm seamer's over Litchfield breaks the shackles when she skips down the pitch and gives it some fearful hammer, but Ecclestone dives down and gets a paw on it.

Two maidens to start from Eccelestone.

Probably been asked before but why no Sarah Glenn in this series? She’s playing in NZ and far better than some of this team.

She did play in a couple of the T20s, Anon, but is not part of the Test squad.

Ryana MacDonald-Gay played great against South Africa, even Marizanne Kapp said she was the toughest bowler to face in that series. Her seam position was beautiful, hopefully she can have the same success this time around.

  13. Aus 38-1published at 18 overs

Another bowling change as Ryana MacDonald-Gay is thrown the ball.

She's very wicket-to-wicket and holds a steady line but to her final ball Annabel Sutherland swivels on her heels and pulls it through mid-wicket for four.

I think that one just went down the leg side there, Annabel Sutherland needs to be careful.

  15. Aus 33-1published at 17 overs

Sophie Ecclestone is summoned by Heather Knight.

The England left-arm spinner is right on the money, and there's an appeal for lbw after Annabel Sutherland fluffs a sweep. Knight declines to review.

A maiden to start from Ecclestone.

India's men were bowled out inside two sessions by Australia in the day-night Test in Adelaide in their recent series, then they defiantly batted out a tough session, I think, one down.

It seems like their women are equally adept at doing so at the MCG under lights. Another maiden for Nat Sciver-Brunt seen off by Phoebe Litchfield.

Heather Knight squeezes another over out of Lauren Bell.

Annabel Sutherland is defiant in defence for her first four ball of Bell's seventh over before a mistimed pull through mid-wicket brings her a couple.

Bell has England's only wicket so far, after Georgia Voll nicked off.

Maybe a fraction full from Nat Sciver-Brunt. There are quite a few seagulls behind her which could be off putting for Phoebe Litchfield.

  20. Aus 31-1published at 14 overs

Australia trail England by 139 runs as we enter the final half hour of the day at the MCG.
