I can't fault this Australia team. They have depth in bowling and batting.

Two from the over and while Lauren Bell isn't looking comfortable against the pace of Darcie Brown, she is doing what she can to stay with Ryana MacDonald-Gay.

  3. dropped catch

    Eng 158-9

Regulation chance at second slip but Georgia Voll puts it down.

Banged in again by Darcie Brown and Lauren Bell wafts at it.

The edge is taken and goes to Voll at head height. Both hands are in position but the ball bursts through.

Australia probably thought the surface would've had more to offer.

  5. Eng 157-9published at 65 overs

Maiden over from Alana King. If she has hurt her neck with that diving stop, then it doesn't show in her bowling.

Ryana MacDonald-Gay plays a couple of nice drives in the over but can't beat the in-field.

I think Ryana MacDonald-Gay is going to be a very good cricketer.

  7. Eng 157-9published at 64 overs

Three dot balls to end Darcie Brown's over with England number 11 Lauren Bell doing enough to survive.

There are still 36 overs left in the day and, despite looking like she'd hurt herself in the last over, Alana King will bowl the first of those as she hunts a maiden Test five-for.

Just for a split second I thought that was going to be put down. Good catch from Georgia Voll, diving forwards. Lauren Filer tries to get things going, clears that front leg. Another bit of outstanding fielding from the Aussies.

  9. wicket

    Filer c Voll b Brown 8 (Eng 157-9)

Darcie Brown has a well-deserved second wicket.

Lauren Filer looks for another big shot and gets a top edge that goes straight up.

It is not an easy catch, though, with Georgia Voll having to come running in from the cordon before diving forward to make the grab.

One more wicket for Australia to wrap up the innings.

We've seen this time and time again, the Australian fielders putting their body on the line to prevent runs.

  11. Eng 157-8published at 63.2 overs

Lovely shot through mid-on from Ryana MacDonald-Gay and Alana King puts in a big effort to chase the ball to the boundary.

She flicks it back and the third umpire decides she did so before the ball reaches the rope.

England have to settle for three but King looks like she may have hurt herself in making that stop.

  12. Eng 154-8published at 63 overs

Lauren Filer has had two lives already and punished each of them with a boundary.

This one is chipped just over mid-on and runs away to the rope.

That's a dropped catch, that was Alana King's opportunity to get a fiver-fer.

  14. dropped catch

Filer dropped on 4published at 62.4 overs

    Eng 150-8

Alana King should have her five-for!

Lauren Filer goes back and tries to flat bat the ball back past the leg-spinner.

It comes off the toe-end of the bat, though, and looks to be a simple return catch.

But King must lose sight of it in the fading light as the ball goes straight through her hands and onto the stumps at the non-striker's end.

  15. Eng 150-8published at 62 overs

Ryana MacDonald-Gay sways out of the way of another well-directed short ball from Darcie Brown.

The England number nine is sticking at it but scoring options seem to be few and far between.

With two wickets left, it has to be time for the tourists to play a few shots now, surely?

  16. Eng 150-8published at 61 overs

Alana King races through another fine over, just a single from it.

I still can't quite get over that catch in the previous over that neither umpire or the Australian fielders seemed to realise was a clear catch.

Lauren Filer must have known it had hammered into her glove.

Looks like England won't even manage to post a T20 score in a four-day Test innings. What is going on? Sad for anybody who has bought tickets for days three and four.

    What's happened here?!

Darcie Brown goes short to Lauren Filer and raps the glove. The ball loops up to second slip, is taken but there is no significant appeal.

No review either and Australia have missed a trick. Did they think it came off the arm? UltraEdge shows it definitely hit the glove.

We'll see how costly that proves as Filer swats the next delivery through mid-wicket for four.

I think that's six times in a row that Nat Sciver-Brunt has been bowled. Alana King goes back for the fuller delivery.

That line, it pitches towards leg stump and turns away from the right hander, that's where England have struggled against her.

  20. wicket

    Sciver-Brunt b King 51 (Eng 144-8)

    Bowled 'er!

Alana King has another one - and this time it's the big one: Nat Sciver-Brunt.

Having ripped one past the outside edge earlier in the over, King has Sciver-Brunt where she wants her.

The England all-rounder is slightly unsure, plays neither forward nor back and sees the ball rips from leg to hit middle as she tries to hit leg side.
