Summary

  1. Eng 156-5published at 26 overs

A single apiece for Brook and Livingstone off Kuldeep's seventh over.

The latter also attempts a ramp sweep that bounces off glove and shoulder before landing safe.

    Afternoon.

Required run-rate of 8.12 an over.

    Simple, eh?

  4. Eng 154-5published at 25 overs

    Target 357

Liam Livingstone swings wildly at two of his first five deliveries.

I don't hold out much hope for England from here. Here's Mike Peter to take you to the finish.

  5. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 24.1 overs

    Buttler b Harshit 6 (Eng 154-5)

Harshit Rana returns and Harshit Rana strikes.

Jos Buttler plays a bit of a loose waft without moving his feet and drags the ball back onto his stumps.

Buttler promised to smile more during this tour. It must have been a real test.

  6. 6 runs

    Eng 154-4published at 24 overs

Need 203 more runs to win

Smashed a mile by Harry Brook!

11 from the over, with Jos Buttler nabbing some singles and twos.

    Better.

  7. Eng 143-4published at 23 overs

    Brook 11, Buttler 2

Harry Brook has struggled to find his flow throughout this tour. He gets a boundary away off Axar Patel but the over also includes five dot balls. That's not going to do the job.

I think we've shown some improvement this tour but the middle overs in both batting and bowling remains a massive issue. If McCullum can find a way to fix that we'll be in a good place.

  9. Not outpublished at 22 overs

Jos Buttler's boot was a long way out of his ground at one stage but he's managed to get it back in time.

    The England skipper survives.

KL Rahul thinks he has got Jos Buttler stumped.

A quick ton each from Brook and Buttler and we will breeze this chase easily.

  12. Eng 136-4published at 21 overs

Need 221 more runs from 29 overs

Jos Buttler is the new man. England have picked the extra batter in this match so there is a bit more depth.

    Sigh.

Joe Root is out. England may well be heading for another defeat.

Somehow he's managed to get himself yorked by spinner Axar Patel. I think Root was trying to guide the ball backward of point. He's only managed to inside edge onto his stumps.

Kuldeep Yadav and India celebrate the wicket of England's Tom BantonImage source, Getty Images

Tom Banton's wicket delivery was the first googly he'd faced off Kuldeep Yadav in this game.

The four previous deliveries he faced from the left-arm wrist spinner were the orthodox deliveries spinning towards Banton.

  15. Eng 133-3published at 20 overs

    Root 24, Brook 3

This is where it gets difficult. People always say 50 overs is a long time and you can play yourself in but Harry Brook doesn't have a lot of room to manoeuvre here.

  16. Eng 129-3published at 19 overs

    Required run-rate: 7.35

How much rests on Joe Root now? I'd say pretty much everything.

The required run-rate is just starting to creep into a dangerous area.

There's the tiniest of spikes. Tom Banton has to drag himself off. He had played nicely but it's another start without going on.

I must obviously also apologise for the mockers.

It's very close to the bat.

There's no obvious deviation so it will all be about ultra-edge.

  20. England reviewpublished at 18 overs

    Given!

India immediately celebrate an edge after a beauty from Kuldeep Yadav.

Tom Banton hasn't felt anything, however.
