If you've not read it yet, this piece from Jo Currie on the Afghanistan women's team is excellent and so powerful - chronicling the team's journey to Australia after the Taliban returned to power in their homeland and effectively banned female participation in sport. Jo's story complements an iPlayer documentary on the team, called 'Cricket's forgotten team', which can be seen here.

Shubman Gill just takes good decisions at good times. It was a marvellous innings and set up and laid a platform for India to play more expansively as the innings went on.

We said England would need to find a way to take wickets and they did that. You would take 8-135 in the final 17 overs any day.

They are still in the game.

It could have been a lot worse for England. At the second drinks break India were looking well beyond the target they got so England plugged well.

It will still be a tough challenge, but it is a ground where chasing can be easier.

England spinner Adil Rashid talking to TNT Sports: 'I think it was ok, the team bowled well. It's nice to get anyone out. They're a team full of top class players.'

'For myself, it's about a lot of practise at the nets but also identifying what type of leg spinner I want to be.'

'It was nice, once you get the ball in the right area and get the right type of rev. It would be nice to get a good bowl every time, but it's not possible.'

'The pitch looked slightly on the slower side. It looked like quite a quick scoring game. Hopefully we'll have the mindset of going out there and chasing it down.'

How has Mark Wood, England's most economical bowler and arguably best at bowling at the death, not bowled his 10 overs? Buttler, what are you doing!??

    Tony, Hull.

How on earth have we seen 5 overs of Root but Wood hasn't bowled 10???

They struggled to take wickets early on but England stuck at it well towards the end to restrict India, relatively speaking. Still an imposing target though, and the shots we've been seeing of Ben Duckett limping in the field don't bode well.

Arshdeep run out (Salt) 2 (Ind 356 all out)

Big attempted heave from Arshdeep to Wood's final ball, missing far out of his crease and Salt runs the tailender out.

England will chase 357 - no doubt a challenging total, and one they're unlikely to reach, but they'll take some solace from India not passing 400 after being 226-2 in the 35th over.

The visitors took the last five wickets for 49 runs, while Wood finishes with figures of 2-45 from nine overs.

  14. Ind 356-9published at 49.5 overs

Kuldeep Yadav is last man in, following Arshdeep Singh to the crease as India field two new batters for the final three balls of the over.

The number 11 takes a single to backward square, then Arshdeep runs two out to long-on.

Oh, Harshit! I was being a little facetious with the batting all-rounder comment after the controversy in the T20s, but that's a great shot, powering the sorry Gus Atkinson over long-off for six.

Two balls earlier, Washington picked up four by sending the ball through backward point.
