Re the reference to Duckett’s textbook cover drive (8.3 overs) - if that is a Day Today quote that’s superb!

Well, I'm glad someone got it, Phil. Blank faces from my colleagues across the desk, for shame.

I've been impressed with Ollie Pope, he's looked less jittery.

Impressive batting, let's see if he can continue.

  4. Eng 60-1published at 12 overs

Shamar Joseph sends down another tidy over, just a single from it.

He was the most economical of the West Indies seamers in the first innings, and has conceded just 11 runs from his four overs today.

At the minute there's no shape on the ball though the air.

It won't be long before the West Indies will want to change the ball.

  10. Eng 54-1published at 9 overs

I mean, that's not bad either.

Pope drives through point for four, the fielder can't get near it.

That's a good shot, they both look like they're on form, nice foot movement.

  12. Eng 50-1published at 8.3 overs

    Oh, that's textbook.

If you've got a batting manual, throw it away, it's worthless. The batting manuals have to be rewritten.

    What will they say?

They'll just show a drawing of Ben Duckett's cover drive against Alzarri Joseph in the second innings at Trent Bridge, everything else will be a footnote.

It's disappointing, they managed to bring it back from their performance at Lord's and have shown that they can compete with this England team but it doesn't look like that anymore.

You just feel that all the work that the West Indies did this morning is going out the window.

They started off well but the past few overs have been poor.

After just seven overs, England are back in the lead.

Alzarri Joseph oversteps and Pope runs the delivery down to backward point for a single.

I would have expected them to use Shamar Joseph before Seales.

  19. Eng 38-1published at 6 overs

Here's Shamar Joseph, replacing Jayden Seales after two overs which went for 18.
