  1. Eng 43-0published at 3.4 overs

    Target 104

Sophie Devine had bowled fairly tidily in her first over, but gives up five wides with a ball straying very wide of leg stump.

England will take freebies like that every day of the week.

  2. Not outpublished at 3.2 overs

    Eng 38-0 (Target 104)

Not out. Wyatt edged the ball before it hit her front pad.

A bit of a wasted review from the White Ferns' captain.

That is going down for me.

  4. NZ reviewpublished at 3.2 overs

    Eng 38-0 (Target 104)

Sophie Devine strikes the pads of Danni Wyatt.

A half-appeal and Devine opts to take it upstairs.

She did catch it but as she hit the ground the ball bobbled out. It was a great grab until she let go of it.

  6. dropped catch

Dunkley dropped on 19published at 3 overs

    Eng 36-0 (Target 104)

A first chance of note for New Zealand as Sophia Dunkley is dropped by Amelia Kerr off the bowling of Jess Kerr.

She runs around to deep mid-wicket and gets two hands on the ball low, but does not snaffle and England run two off it.

To make matters worse, Amelia Kerr seems to take a bit of a whack to the face in the process.

    An 11-run over in total.

New Zealand have been sloppy in this series and that was another example. It is so hard for them when they aren't getting anything right.

  8. Eng 33-0published at 2.3 overs

    Target 104

Danni Wyatt joins in on the act, with Sophia Dunkley having much of the strike so far.

Wyatt with two brilliantly timed drives through the off side in back-to-back balls brings up fours on both occasions off the bowling of Jess Kerr.

  9. Eng 24-0published at 2 overs

    Target 104

Sophia Dunkley makes it a hat-trick of fours, with Lea Tahuhu's first over of the evening conceding 15 runs.

England now need just 80 runs to win off 112 balls.

If they keep this up, it will not take too long to seal victory.

    Sophie Dunkley means business here.

This is the kind of positive they can take from this game, despite a low total - how they approach the chase because these games can become nervy.

  11. Eng 20-0published at 1.5 overs

    Target 104

Sophia Dunkley is looking to be in fine touch here.

She gets low to the ball and swipes that through the leg-side boundary for four.

A ball later, Dunkley slashes at it again, this time over mid-off and finds four more.

That is the start that England will have wanted. Sophia Dunkley got a couple of poor deliveries that she was able to put away.

  13. Eng 9-0published at 1 overs

    Target 104

Almost back-to-back fours from Dunkley to finish the over, but some sharp fielding on the rope saves a couple of runs.

Nine runs come from the first over, significantly cutting the required run-rate.

  14. Eng 7-0published at 0.5 overs

    Target 104

A ball straying down the leg side is dispatched by Sophia Dunkley, helping that on the way for four through short fine leg.

    England are starting with purpose.

  15. Eng 1-0published at 0.1 overs

    Target 104

First ball of the innings sees Danni Wyatt get off the mark.

Drilled to extra cover and spilled. Just the one taken.

    Thanks, Mike.

England do not have the biggest total to chase down against New Zealand at The Oval, but it is three figures, which earlier in New Zealand's innings, did not seem a certainty.

Sophia Dunkley and Danni Wyatt come out to open the batting for England in this chase of 104.

  18. 'I keep it really simple'published at 20:05 British Summer Time 13 July

England leg-spinner Sarah Glenn after recording figures of 4-19: "I think for me, I keep it really simple, keep the stumps in play. I tried to use the extra bounce and keep the stumps in play.

"I'm trying to get it fuller with that extra bounce and keep the stumps in play.

"I don't like watching myself bowl, but I like taking wickets.

On tactics against the batters: "I try to keep square up in the ring as well, try and vary my pace and make them use my feet more.

On going from pace bowlers to spinners: "I think they were in the game, great from Heather [Knight] to keep bowling them and then bring the spinners in."

Well, at least New Zealand scraped past the hundred mark - when they were 52-5 you might have feared they wouldn't have made it.

Put simply, they had few answers for England spinners Sophie Ecclestone and Sarah Glenn - the latter took 4-19, while the former finished with figures of 2-16.

Danielle Gibson bowled with real pace and was a real threat. 104 feels like a pretty limp target for this England side.
