Summary

  1. Aus 121-2published at 18.2 overs

Adil Rashid continues, a catcher at slip still in place, but the pressure is taken off as Cameron Green flicks one down leg side for three.

Travis Head then steps down and hits the ball up and over cover for four. Head did not quite middle that but it has enough to dribble to the boundary.

While the players take some liquid refreshment on board take a look at how Liam Livingstone duped Steve Smith into a leading edge a few moments ago.

Re 16.40 - perhaps The Buffalo? But then you have the question "what's the difference between a buffalo and a bison?"

  4. drinks break

Aus 113-2 at drinkspublished at 18 overs

Feels finely poised this one as we reach the drinks break. To use that old Boycottism - the score does not look half as clever if you put two wickets on it.

That was a brilliant shot from Travis Head a few moments ago. Rashid is turning it but Head was absolutely dead still.

  6. Aus 112-2published at 17.3 overs

    Liam Livingstone continues.

Meanwhile, here's how Travis Head reach fifty a little while ago.

  8. 6 runs

    Aus 111-2published at 17 overs

A riposte from Travis Head to the vice-like grip Adil Rashid has had on the run rate from his first two overs as he skips down the pitch and launches it over the top.

Rashid looks unflustered as he comes back strongly in the remainder of the over.

  9. Aus 102-2published at 16 overs

Cameron Green is quickly into his stride, planting his front foot and driving Liam Livingstone through the covers four.

Can England turn the screw here with their spinners and nip out a couple more?

We saw Marnus Labuschagne do something similar to great surprise and that is the same. Steve Smith had looked so good.

It's a leading edge again. This will be the problem for Australia.

An interesting game will be coming up.

  11. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 15.3 overs

    Smith c & b Livingstone 32 (Aus 96-2)

A leading edge and Steve Smith is on his way!

Smith looked relatively untroubled to Liam Livingstone's first two balls, cutting and pulling the England spinner for two on each occasion.

However, Livingstone gets one to stick a little bit and Smith ends up spooning it up as he attemnptes to work to leg. Livingstone has to take it high above his head and clings on.

Livingstone then volleys the ball in the air celebration. A big wicket.

  13. Aus 92-1published at 15 overs

More than half an lbw shout from Adil Rashid in his second over.

The England leg-spinner draws Steve Smith forward to defend. It looked close but England wicketekeeper Jamie Smith seems to think it was drifting down leg and Harry Brook declines to review.

Two runs off two overs from Australia off Rashid.

There were two poor deliveries in that over. Travis Head has his fifty. It's a run-a-ball fifty and he is setting this platform nicely for Australia.

  15. 50 runs

Fifty for Headpublished at 14 overs

Travis Head goes deep in his crease to Will Jacks to give himself room to pull the England spinner through mid-wicket. It was a smidgen short and Head punished it.

The final ball of Jack's over and Head brings up his half-century off exactly 50 balls with a dab down to third.

The difference with the spin could be how Australia play it. A lot of England's wickets were going all-out attack. I wonder if Australia will punch it along the ground and take that danger out.

There is spin there. This is game on now.

How are Australia going to deal with this?

A lovely over from a man who is such a massive part of England's white-ball cricket.

  18. Aus 80-1published at 13 overs

Adil Rashid looks up for the fight here. He bowls it flatter, mostly, challenging Australia on a pitch which appeared a little sticky when England batted on it earlier.

One run off the over. England will not might that one bit.

    Phil Long

Adil Rashid has 199 one-day international wickets...

  20. Aus 80-1published at 12.3 overs

Will Jacks rattles through an over, costing just a single apiece for Travis Head and Steve Smith. Harry Book summons Adil Rashid into the attack.

Spin could be key for England here.
