Summary

  1. Durham dominant, Lancs flat in fieldpublished at 11:48 British Summer Time 11 September

    Durham 435-4 v Lancs 228

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle at Chester-le-Street

David Bedingham, Division One's leading run-scorer, has just passed the 200-run mark for Durham, for the second time.

His top score for the county is 257 in a game against Derbyshire in 2021. On that occasion he became the first Durham player to score more than 300 in a game. Today he has 214, while at the other end Colin Ackermann has 141.

Their partnership is already a club record for a fifth wicket, at 336 and now stands at number three for Durham. Lancashire look flat in the field and don't seem to have any idea how to break this stand with the Kookaburra ball and a track which seems benign.

It is a bright and breezy day in Chester-le-Street and at 435-4 Durham lead Lancashire by 207.

  2. Postpublished at 11:47 British Summer Time 11 September

    Somerset 317 v Surrey 220-6

Tom Curran is not looking comfortable out there against the twin spin attack.

Three times Jack Leach beats Curran's outside edge in his 39th over.

After a quiet start to the day, Somerset are all over the leaders.

  3. Record breaking partnership for Durhampublished at 11:47 British Summer Time 11 September

    Durham 435-4 v Lancs 228

Colin Ackermann is forward to Tom Hartley, driving down the ground for one to get up to 140.

Single to David Bedingham down the ground.

Ackermann keeps the strike with a single cut into the off side and this is a record partnership for any wicket for Durham, now worth 336.

    Somerset 317 v Surrey 220-6

    And another!

Ben Foakes is not happy as he walks off but he has to go.

He pushes at a ball from Archie Vaughan which pitches on leg and it flies up to Ben Green at forward short leg.

It's hard to see if that took an outside edge on to his front pad.

Foakes thinks he had nothing to do with it.

That's a fourth wicket for Vaughan Jnr and Jordan Clark is in

  5. wicket

WICKET Haynes lbw b Harmer 1published at 11:42 British Summer Time 11 September

    Essex 457 v Notts 63-5

Nottinghamshire folding like a bedsheet at Chelmsford.

If Jamie Porter's pace doesn't get you, Simon Harmer's spin will. Jack Haynes departs for a third lbw decision of the morning and Essex will be eyeing the follow-on.

  6. WICKET Keogh b Andersson 63published at 11:41 British Summer Time 11 September

    Northants 219 & 211 v Derbyshire 165

    Derbyshire require 266.

Rob Keogh goes across his stumps to open up the leg side, but only offers a clear route for Martin Andersson to thud into his leg stump.

This could be an exciting chase.

  7. Will Tom Banton return?published at 11:41 British Summer Time 11 September

    Somerset 317 v Surrey 220-5

    Tom BantonImage source, Rex Features

Those two Jack Leach wickets have created an opening for Somerset, but can they burst through it?

Their hopes may have taken a blow, however, depending on the fitness of Tom Banton.

The Somerset gloveman, who made a fine century in the first innings, pulled up in the warm-up this morning and had to be carried from the field.

  8. Postpublished at 11:40 British Summer Time 11 September

    Middlesex 377 v Gloucs 191-6

Henry Brookes is in the attack for the first time this morning and his first over of the day yields four singles to Gloucestershire.

Zafar Gohar plays perhaps his best shot of the day with a beautifully timed drive through cover for four runs off the bowling of Tom Helm.

Helm bangs the last ball in short and Zafar rides the bounce to slap the ball backward of point for two.

  9. wicket

WICKET Clarke lbw b Porter 13published at 11:37 British Summer Time 11 September

    Essex 457 v Notts 63-4

Jamie Porter of Essex celebrates with his team mates after taking the wicket of Joe ClarkeImage source, Rex Features

Joe Clarke runs out of lives.

Dropped at slip by Matt Critchley a few balls earlier and fortunate to survive one very close lbw decision soon after, Clarke eventually falls to Jamie Porter, who's third time lucky.

To be honest, the second lbw shout looked less likely than the first but it's given and Notts are in real bother.

  10. Postpublished at 11:34 British Summer Time 11 September

    Durham 421-4 v Lancs 228

Tom Hartley is in the attack and Colin Ackermann is forward, sweeping square for four. He's on 131.

David Bedingham is on 207 at the other end and he might have a chance of another record here.

The highest first-class score of any Durham batter is 273, made by Martin Love against Hampshire on this ground in 2003.

Bedingham's current top score for Durham is 257, also scored on this ground against Derbyshire in 2021.

  11. wicket

WICKET Yates lbw Waite 5published at 11:33 British Summer Time 11 September

    Worcestershire 307, Warwickshire 128 & 5-1

Six-wicket Worcestershire hero Tom Taylor has not taken the field for the Pears for the second innings. 12th man Rob Jones is on fielding. But it does not seem to matter.

Having been bowled out for 128, Warwickshire are already a man down second time around!!!

Rob Yates is trapped leg before wicket to Matthew Waite, absolutely plumb, in only the second over.

An innings win is probably a bit far-fetched, despite all this morning's mayhem, but the Pears still lead by 174 - and are clearly hunting a three-day finish.

  12. wicket

WICKET Al Hasan c and b Leach 12published at 11:32 British Summer Time 11 September

    Somerset 317 v Surrey 216-5

    That was coming!

Jack Leach has been fired up this morning and deservedly picks up a second wicket of the morning. Game on?

The England spinner almost grabbed a return chance two balls earlier and then has his man. Shakib Al Hasan prods halfheartedly at the final ball and gives Leach a simple chance.

Archie Vaughan is in at the other end by the way and getting some real turn.

    Tom Curran is in.

  13. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 11:31 British Summer Time 11 September

    Kent 101-5 v Hampshire 403

Hampshire haven't been great in the slips this season and another one goes down.

Toby Albert is the guilty party on this occasion at second slip.

James Fuller had done well to extract a drive out of Ben Compton, on 32, but he'll have to find another one.

  14. Postpublished at 11:30 British Summer Time 11 September

    Worcestershire 307, Warwickshire 128 & 0-0

Warwickshire's openers Rob Yates and Alex Davies are back in again - just over 24 hours after they began their first innings.

After losing over half the day's play yesterday, who could possibly have imagined that?

Logan van Beek opens the bowling for the Bears.

  15. wicket

    WICKET Hudson-Prentice c Tribe b Harris 26published at 11:29 British Summer Time 11 September

    Sussex 463-7 v Glamorgan 186

    FHP's fun is over.

James Harris runs in for his 21st over looking for his first wicket - and he has it!

Fynn Hudson-Prentice looks to loft his first ball over cover but picks out Asa Tribe and his 27-ball knock is over.

    Jack Carson to the crease.

  16. 50 runs

50 for Northants' Keoghpublished at 11:28 British Summer Time 11 September

    Northants 219 & 202-8 v Derbyshire 165

Not a single batting point earned on the opening two days in Northampton.

And Northants' second innings is following that same pattern - but Rob Keogh is doing his best to change that.

He's up to 54no and the Northants lead is past 250 - which looks a daunting target for Derbyshire with what we've seen so far.

  17. 100 runs

100 for Tom Clarkpublished at 11:27 British Summer Time 11 September

    Sussex 463-6 v Glamorgan 186

    Well batted, Tom Clark!

He sweeps Ben Kellaway down to the fine leg boundary to brings up his third first-class century.

It's also his first of the season and has been made from a nuggety 220 balls with 11 fours. He removes his helmet and shows his bat to all four corners of the ground.

    And who can blame him?

    The lead is 277.

  18. Postpublished at 11:26 British Summer Time 11 September

    Middlesex 377 v Gloucs 179-6

Toby Roland-Jones is into his 20th over of the innings, trying to prize out Ollie Price.

He bowls full but Price can't push the ball past mid off.

Rojo adjusts his length slightly and Ollie Price defends down the ground.

    Maiden over.

  19. Postpublished at 11:24 British Summer Time 11 September

    Kent 96-5 v Hampshire 403

    A century up for Kent.

No, not the runs yet, but the amount of balls faced between Ben Compton and Harry Finch during this sixth-wicket stand.

    They have calmed things down.

  20. 450 up for Sussexpublished at 11:24 British Summer Time 11 September

    Sussex 457-3 v Glamorgan 186

The Division Two leaders continue to march on at Hove despute the loss of centurion John Simpson.

Tom Clark takes two off Ben Kellaway to bring up 450 for Sussex and then a single to move within two runs of a ton.

But it's Fynn Hudson-Prentice who is picking up the pace.

He strokes a beautiful cover drive off James Harris which takes him to 25 off as many balls.
