Summary

  1. Postpublished at 10:57 British Summer Time 11 September

    Somerset 317 v Surrey 191-3

    That didn't take long.

Archie Vaughan enters the attack, replacing Craig Overton, and we have spin at both ends.

Ben Foakes steps down and hits his fourth ball for a boundary. It's close to a maximum but bounces just before the rope.

But a rare false shot from Foakes to Jack Leach then evades Craig Overton at slip and runs away for another boundary, beating the diving Vaughan. He moves to 24.

Two overs away from the new ball.

  2. Postpublished at 10:56 British Summer Time 11 September

    Middlesex 377 v Gloucs 165-6

Zafar Gohar is forward to Ryan Higgins, defending into the off side.

Still just the one scoring shot for him so far in a tense passage of play.

    Maiden over.

Liz Mitchell: The integration of the County Championship clubs with Youtube live stream and BBC Sport is just fantastic and something we should never take for granted.

Thanks Liz, glad you're enjoying the cricket as much as we are...

  4. WICKET Hill c Lyth b Fisher 21published at 10:53 British Summer Time 11 September

    Leicestershire 98 & 53-3 v Yorkshire 379

Three out of three for Matt Fisher.

Lewis Hill pushes with hard hands and Adam Lyth doesn't drop anything like that at second slip.

Three down, seven to go. Leicestershire still trail by 228.

  5. Postpublished at 10:53 British Summer Time 11 September

    Durham 379-4 v Lancs 228

Anderson Phillip slams the ball down very short and all eyes are on the umpire to see if it's going to be a no ball for height.

    It's legit.

David Bedingham scoops a ball square on the leg side to take the innings lead past 150.

    Durham 377-4 v Lancs 228

As cricket teams often do, Durham warmed up for day three with a game of football earlier - and coach Ryan Campbell saw something that warranted a yellow card.

Right now, there looks like no chance of an early bath for the hosts - they are well set to build a hefty first-innings lead against Lancashire the way it's going.

  7. Postpublished at 10:50 British Summer Time 11 September

    Leicestershire 98 & 47-2 v Yorkshire 379

A humungous appeal from the Yorkshire slip cordon, and a celebappeal from Ben Coad.

They are all sure that Ajinkya Rahane has been squared up and tickled behind.

    The umpire is less convinced.

  8. Postpublished at 10:50 British Summer Time 11 September

    Middlesex 377 v Gloucs 165-6

This is tough going for Gloucestershire after the early loss of Tom Price this morning.

Zafar Gohar tries to cut Ryan Higgins through backward point but he's cramped for room and the ball dribbles out square on the off side.

Another no ball for Ryan Higgins in an otherwise testing over.

  9. wicket

WICKET Simpson lbw b Kellaway 117published at 10:50 British Summer Time 11 September

    Sussex 426-6 v Glamorgan 186

    Breakthrough!

John Simpson has looked very much the immovable object, but goes for one big hit too many and falls for a super 160-ball knock of 117.

He tries to smash Ben Kellaway through the legside but misses a ball which turns a little and straightens to connect with Simpson's pad.

    Fynn Hudson-Prentice is in.

  10. Postpublished at 10:49 British Summer Time 11 September

    Somerset 317 v Surrey 180-3

Craig Overton is keeping the batters honest with some nice probing bowling this morning.

There hasn't been much to get excited about if you're a Somerset fielder, but that wasn't far away!

Ben Foakes clips a ball off his pad uppishly and it drops just short of Ben Green's forward dive at square leg.

    Maiden.

  11. Postpublished at 10:48 British Summer Time 11 September

    Kent 73-5 v Hampshire 403

Another edge from Ben Compton this morning.

Mo Abbas finds the nick but there isn't enough carry to get to Ben Brown on the full.

The sun is out, but batting doesn't look fun at Canterbury.

  12. Postpublished at 10:45 British Summer Time 11 September

    Durham 375-4 v Lancs 228

We've only had eight overs with the new ball but there's no well-directed, sharp seam movement to trouble the batters at the moment.

Anderson Phillip is a bit leg side and David Bedingham nudges the ball away for an easy single.

Single to Colin Ackermann, steered to third man.

The fifth ball is short and pulled square for one.

  13. 50 runs

50 partnershippublished at 10:43 British Summer Time 11 September

    Somerset 317 v Surrey 178-3

Ryan Patel takes a single off the final ball of Craig Overton's seventh over to bring up the fifty partnership for Surrey's fourth wicket.

    It's come off a patient 139 balls.

Somerset will be not quite desperate, but very eager to break this stand.

  14. Postpublished at 10:40 British Summer Time 11 September

    Middlesex 377 v Gloucs 161-6

Zafar Gohar opens the face of the bat and nudges Ryan Higgins safely past the slips to third man for his first runs. Four of them.

He leaves a wider ball outside off stump, then plays and misses the fifth ball.

He sees out the over though and Ollie Price will face Toby Roland-Jones.

  15. Postpublished at 10:39 British Summer Time 11 September

    Somerset 317 v Surrey 177-3

Steady start for Surrey on day three.

Craig Overton's line strays a tad and spoils a tidy opening over with four leg byes.

Ben Foakes collects three more to his first ball as Jack Leach comes straight into the attack.

Ryan Patel picks up his first run of the day with a single.

    As you were.

  16. Postpublished at 10:39 British Summer Time 11 September

    Kent 70-5 v Hampshire 403

This is certainly not getting categorised as a drop, but perhaps a half chance.

Ben Compton flashes, edges but it flies towards second slip.

Toby Albert gets a finger tip to it but that's it. In fact his slight touch probably saves a boundary.

Compton swings at the following Kyle Abbott delivery as well, but misses it by a distance.

  17. Postpublished at 10:38 British Summer Time 11 September

    Durham 371-4 v Lancs 228

Two slips in for Anderson Phillip, and Colin Ackermann pushes the ball carefully to mid off.

    Three singles off that over.

Speaking of Notts, bit of early morning signing news for you...

Nottinghamshire have signed New Zealand seamer Jacob Duffy as they battle to avoid relegation from Division One of the County Championship.

The 30-year-old, who has earned 14 T20 and six one-day international caps for his country, has taken 293 first-class wickets across his 12-year professional career.

Duffy joins Notts for their final two red-ball matches this season, with the East Midlands side third from bottom in the table, 10 points head of Lancashire in the second relegation spot, going into their current game against Essex.

  19. Cook trying to roast Notts againpublished at 10:36 British Summer Time 11 September

    Essex 457 v Notts 39-1

Lively start from Sam Cook at Chelmsford as the Essex seamer bends one back in to Freddie McCann and almost gets the Notts man to edge through to the keeper.

The Notts batters will not be pleased to see Cook bearing down on them - he got a hat-trick in the reverse fixture earlier this season and took 10 wickets in that match.

    WICKET T Price b Roland-Jones 14published at 10:35 British Summer Time 11 September

    Middlesex 377 v Gloucs 156-6

Ollie Price sees out the 42nd over and now Middlesex captain Toby Roland-Jones will bowl to Tom Price.

Tom defends into the on side to start and then gets the first runs of the day with a neat drive through cover for two.

    Textbook shot. High elbow.

    And now he's out!

Gorgeous delivery, nipping in to beat the defensive bat and clip middle and off.

Middlesex strike early and now the pressure is on Zafar Gohar, making his way to the crease.
