    Leicestershire 98 & 84-3 v Yorkshire 379

It has been drizzling for a little while but the umpires have now decided they want to protect the pitch with the covers.

No surprise looking at those ominous skies.

Only one wicket in that mini-spell for Yorkshire.

200 for David Bedingham in mammoth partnershippublished at 11:20 British Summer Time 11 September

    Durham 400-4 v Lancs 228

David Bedingham gets a single through point off George Balderson through point to move to 198.

Colin Ackermann sees out the over.

A short ball from Tom Bailey but the pull shot brings just the one to deep mid wicket.

Ackermann brings up the 300 partnership for the fifth wicket in 425 and now Bedingham faces on 199...

Wide down the leg side and that's an easy single to deep mid wicket! Bedingham has 200 runs in 265 balls with 23 fours and a six.

It's his second double century for the club and this is also the 20th time a Durham player has scored a double ton.

That's also the Durham 400 in 96 overs and a fourth batting point.

    Leicestershire 98 & 83-3 v Yorkshire 379

Rehan Ahmed is certainly not going to go to bed tonight wishing he'd played a few more attacking shots.

    He is attacking almost everything.

The England man advances at George Hill a couple of times and skies him on both occasions before whipping helicopter-like off his pads for a couple more.

Fun to watch and is biting into the deficit. It is now below 200.

Morning destroyer Tom Taylor leaves the field at Worcester after his career-best 6-28 against Warwickshire

Ed Barnard has a dart - but his first attempt at a boundary ends in further Bears despair as he holes out to home skipper Brett D'Oliveira on the deep midwicket boundary.

    Blimey! Who saw that coming?

Six wickets for just 16 runs - in 9.2 overs.

    Warwickshire to follow on.

It's a good job the Bears are safe. Supposedly!

  5. wicket

WICKET Slater c Elgar b Harmer 29published at 11:16 British Summer Time 11 September

    Essex 457 v Notts 49-3

    Trouble brewing for Nottinghamshire.

Ben Slater misjudges a defensive stroke from a wickedly-turning Simon Harmer delivery - and gets a thick nick that carries to Dean Elgar, who takes a smart low catch, close in at second slip.

Essex will be thinking they can win this one, especially the way Harmer has started - he has 2-0 from four maiden overs.

  6. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 11:16 British Summer Time 11 September

    Leicestershire 98 & 71-3 v Yorkshire 379

    A life for Rehan Ahmed.

He pushes at Jordan Thompson but George Hill spills it at first slip.

There was a fairly sizable gap between Hill and his wicketkeeper and that has made this a tougher chance than it should have been.

Thompson is left shouting at the floor as Hill wrings his left hand out.

  7. 200 runs

200 up for Surreypublished at 11:16 British Summer Time 11 September

    Somerset 317 v Surrey 201-4

Things are getting a little spicy at Taunton as Shakib Al Hasan comes to the crease.

The name on everyone's lips for his one-match loan.

Ben Foakes abandons his caution and there's a big play and miss at Ben Randell's second ball.

Foakes then picks up his third four to bring up the 200 for Surrey.

A definite change in momentum it seems from the leaders.

  8. wicket

    WICKET Hannon-Dalby b Taylor 2published at 11:14 British Summer Time 11 September

    Worcestershire 307, Warwickshire 128-9

Another wicket for Tom Taylor as Oliver Hannon-Dalby is bowled, pushing forward.

30 still needed to avoid the follow-on as last man Chris Rushworth comes to the wicket.

It's now also Taylor's career-best, surpassing his 6-47 for Leicestershire v Sussex at Hove in April 2019.

Logan van Beek comes on to bowl the next over . . .

Zafar Gohar gets a bit of width from Toby Roland-Jones but can't quite squeeze the ball away though point.

The runs have really slowed to a trickle this morning.

Good bowling and fielding from Middlesex.

Zafar gets hold of one this time though, nudging a full and slightly wide ball through point for four runs.

  10. wicket

WICKET Patel c Gregory b Leach 70published at 11:09 British Summer Time 11 September

    Somerset 317 v Surrey 196-4

    Now then....

Jack Leach continues to wheel away and has the much-needed breakthrough with the new ball!

Ryan Patel gets a top edge which hangs in the air for a long, long time as Lewis Gregory steadies himself and takes a skier.

Patel goes for 70 and Surrey lose a fourth wicket, 121 runs in deficit.

  11. Postpublished at 11:07 British Summer Time 11 September

    Somerset 317 v Surrey 196-3

Ryan Patel almost gets a glove on Randell's third ball as he looks to hook a short one.

It flies through to wicketkeeper James Rew and no harm done.

Patel runs through for two and then pushes the final ball through the covers for a single as Lewis Goldsworthy fields.

    The Somerset frustration grows.

  12. 'Gulf in experience and quality'published at 11:07 British Summer Time 11 September

    Durham 394-4 v Lancs 228

    Scott Read
    BBC Radio Lancashire

The wind is howling around Chester-le-Street once again this morning, the Durham flag on the roof of the pavilion continues to be battered around with the edges becoming frayed.

No sign of the Lancashire flag this week, but on the field the team have been battered around in the wind all week.

No disputing effort, a lack of which is an easy thing to accuse a professional side - there is just a gulf in experience and quality in keys areas between these two teams.

It was the same in the previous two rounds as Lancashire were easily worked over by Hampshire and Surrey. It's looking increasingly likely that this will be a long and painful end of the season for the Red Rose.

  13. Postpublished at 11:06 British Summer Time 11 September

    Leicestershire 98 & 63-3 v Yorkshire 379

Rehan Ahmed isn't known for his stout defensive style, his way out of trouble is aggression.

He's only faced six balls so far, but two boundaries have already flown off his bat.

The first: a thick outside edge just wide of gully.

The second: a much more confident drive through extra cover.

  14. Postpublished at 11:06 British Summer Time 11 September

    Durham 394-4 v Lancs 228

Four more for David Bedingham, driving Anderson Phillip through long off.

Colin Ackermann gts a single to deep point off tom Bailey for one and now Bedingham takes guard on 196.

Single to Bedingham, pushing through point.

  15. wicket

Bears tormented by Taylor's swiftnesspublished at 11:04 British Summer Time 11 September

    Worcestershire 307, Warwickshire 124-8

    Ged Scott
    BBC Sport at Worcester

Early morning carnage at Worcester as Tom Taylor takes four Warwickshire wickets in 13 balls.

Hamza Shaikh, caught behind off the second ball of the day, Michael Burgess, caught at second slip, Danny Briggs, leg before wicket, and then Michael Rae, bowled first ball.

Still 34 needed to avoid the follow-on.

But the redoubtable Oliver Hannon-Dalby has been here before. He at least avoided the hat-trick ball - and former Pears all-rounder Ed Barnard is still there.

Taylor's four wickets, all from the Diglis End, have earned him his first five-wicket haul for the Pears.

  16. Postpublished at 11:03 British Summer Time 11 September

    Kent 79-5 v Hampshire 403

It isn't all doom and gloom for Kent.

Harry Finch punches Kyle Abbott down the ground to relieve some pressure.

Lovely shot, but they're going to need quite a few more of them over the next too days.

  17. new ball

Somerset take the new ballpublished at 11:02 British Summer Time 11 September

    Somerset 317 v Surrey 193-3

Ben Foakes and Ryan Patel milk a single apiece from Jack Leach who has bowled 33 overs of the first 80 of the Surrey first knock.

Somerset skipper Lewis Gregory immediately takes the new ball and Brett Randell pulls off his sweater.

It's been a quiet start - can the hosts make things happen?

  18. Postpublished at 11:02 British Summer Time 11 September

    Middlesex 377 v Gloucs 166-6

Gloucestershire are really under the pump here.

Zafar Gohar gets away with an ugly play and miss outside off stump.

The ball from Toby Roland-Jones nips in sharply and fizzes past the inside edge of a crooked bat.

Tom Helm is back in the attack in place of Ryan Higgins.

  19. wicket

WICKET McCann lbw b Harmer 11published at 11:01 British Summer Time 11 September

    Essex 457 v Notts 48-2

Simon Harmer celebratesImage source, Rex Features

First ball of the day from Essex spin king Simon Harmer - and what a ball it is.

Cuts back to trap Freddie McCann in his crease and that's a straightforward lbw decision.

Harmer thinks he has another victim a couple of balls later but the umpire does not agree, saying there was no nick from Joe Clarke to the keeper.

  20. Postpublished at 10:59 British Summer Time 11 September

    Durham 384-4 v Lancs 228

This text commentator is never going to fully understand the wisdom of playing football to warm up before playing cricket.

But really, anything to warm up on a chilly day like this one.

Tom Bailey spears one down the leg side and David Bedingham tickles the ball past a diving keeper fine for four runs.

Nothing Matty Hurst could've done about that.
