    Essex 457 v Notts 93 & 143-2

Notts captain Haseeb Hameed has passed 1,000 first-class runs in a season for the third time in his career.

He becomes only the third Division One batter to do so.

Hameed's efforts are giving the relegation battlers a sniff of a draw in this one but they still have to hold out for more than a day's play.

Quite amazing that a side that collapsed to 93 all out earlier can look much better in the follow-on - but this top order is key.

  4. Close of play at Worcesterpublished at 17:24 British Summer Time 11 September

    Worcestershire 307, Warwickshire 128 & 171-3

    Ged Scott
    BBC Sport at Worcester

As expected, there will be no further play today at Worcester.

After an hour and a hablf of uncertainty, and a lot of to-ing and fro-ing from the groundstaff with the covers, it's now been called off for the evening.

Warwickshire will resume in the morning still eight runs adrift of the hosts.

The Pears-Bears derby probably ought to end up in a draw now. But another morning burst on the same lines as earlier would sure make things interesting!

    Resumption at 10:30.

  5. wicket

WICKET Holden c T Price b Akhter 39published at 17:23 British Summer Time 11 September

    Middlesex 377 & 122-3 v Gloucs 309-9 dec

    The carnage continues at Lord's.

One ball after smashing Zaman Akhter down to long off for four runs, Max Holden is out, lofting the ball to Tom Price at deep cover via a flashing drive.

A thrilling but brief innings comes to an end and Ryan Higgins will bat next.

Holden made 39 in 23 balls with seven fours.

Earlier in the over Leus du Plooy launched a superb lofted drive over long on for six.

    Middlesex are in a hurry.

  6. wicket

WICKET Cooke lbw b Robinson 5published at 17:19 British Summer Time 11 September

    Sussex 491 v Glamorgan 186 & 201-7

Sussex have a three-day win firmly in their sights.

Ollie Robinson pins Chris Cooke on the crease with a ball which angles into the knee roll of his front pad.

The umpire raises the finger and Robinson has his first wicket of the innings.

Cooke may not have agreed. He drags himself off the pitch with all the speed of a glacier.

    James Harris joins Dan Douthwaite.

  7. wicket

WICKET Moore c Broad b Keogh 5published at 17:17 British Summer Time 11 September

    Northants 219 & 211 v Derbys 165 & 122-8 (target: 266)

Caught off the back of the bat!

Harry Moore attempts a reverse sweep off Rob Keogh. It bounces off his pad and then loops up to Justin Broad at first slip.

Other than Broad, everyone else has gone up for the lbw (which was never on as the ball pitched outside leg stump) but the ball catches the back of the bat and lands in Broad's hands.

    One wicket to go!

  8. Supercharged Middlesexpublished at 17:17 British Summer Time 11 September

    Middlesex 377 & 109-2 v Gloucs 309-9 dec

Great start for Leus du Plooy, who drives his first ball firmly through cover for four and that takes Middlesex to 100 in just 14.2 overs.

    This is pure Bazball.

Eight runs follow in Zafar Gohar's next over, including another Max Holden reverse sweep that brings four.

    He's made 34 off only 20 deliveries.

  9. Postpublished at 17:17 British Summer Time 11 September

    Somerset 317 & 141-8 v Surrey 321

You don't see many wides in red-ball cricket but Dan Worrall resumes with a ball which drifts way down the offside.

The next is much better - an absolute brute of a yorker which Craig Overton does very well to jam his bat down in time.

Shakib Al Hasan then almost completes his five-for as he draws a thick outside edge from Jack Leach which evades Dom Sibley at first slip. The batters run three.

The lead is up to 137.

  10. 200 runs

200 up for Glamorganpublished at 17:13 British Summer Time 11 September

    Sussex 491 v Glamorgan 186 & 201-6

Chris Cooke steers James Coles into the offside for a couple to take Glamorgan past the 200 mark.

He takes his patient innings to five from 30 balls.

It all seems a bit academic, but the Glamorgan batters are not going to give up.

  11. Postpublished at 17:13 British Summer Time 11 September

    Durham 573-9 dec v Lancs 288 & 104-3

Josh Bohannon takes Lancashire to the second innings 100 in 34.2 overs with a clip to fine leg off Ben Raine for one.

Four runs to Matty Hurst, steering the ball to fine leg.

That's the 50 partnership for the third wicket in 108 balls.

    16 overs left tonight.

So Essex get given a larger deduction than Durham for the same offence, presumably because of the not guilty plea. But it was proven that the umpires had gauges which were smaller than standard, so why would Essex have pled guilty?

  13. wicket

WICKET Thomson c Sales b Keogh 5published at 17:10 British Summer Time 11 September

    Northants 219 & 211 v Derbys 165 & 116-8 (target: 266)

Holy moly that is a great short leg catch!

James Sales has plucked that out of the air as the ball whizzes past his ear.

Alex Thomson rather jabbed at Rob Keogh but that is all about the catch.

Northants' march to victory continues at pace.

  14. ouch!

Leach and Overton in the warspublished at 17:09 British Summer Time 11 September

    Somerset 317 & 135-8 v Surrey 321

Dan Worrall comes around the wicket to Jack Leach who has to wear one as a rising ball thuds into his midriff.

The third ball is on the legside and gifts Leach a fourth run.

Craig Overton runs hard to steal himself a second run and is then pinged on the helmet by a short ball.

We'll have a delay for the usual protocols. The lead is up to 131.

  15. rain stops play

Rain stops playpublished at 17:08 British Summer Time 11 September

    Kent 207 & 70-0 v Hampshire 403

Three balls and they are off.

    Classic county cricket shenanigans.

  16. Play resumes at Canterburypublished at 17:08 British Summer Time 11 September

    Kent 207 & 70-0 v Hampshire 403

Absolutely no idea why they have gone back on!

There was blue skies for a split second, but that has quickly turned into rain and it is also very dark!

  17. wicket

WICKET Robson c Bracey b Akhter 50published at 17:08 British Summer Time 11 September

    Middlesex 377 & 97-2 v Gloucs 309-9 dec

    Gloucestershire needed that.

Sam Robson is forward to Zaman Akhter but plays down the wrong line trying to defend and gets a thin edge through to keeper James Bracey.

Leus du Plooy is in at four for the hosts.

  18. Max Holden runs riotpublished at 17:07 British Summer Time 11 September

    Middlesex 377 & 97-1 v Gloucs 309-9 dec

Max Holden takes 10 runs off Zafar Gohar in an over, including two reverse sweeps for four.

This game is racing away from Gloucestershire.

Middlesex 165 ahead with eight wickets and a day in hand.

  19. Postpublished at 17:06 British Summer Time 11 September

    Northants 219 & 211 v Derbys 165 & 115-7 (target: 266)

Around the wickets, Wayne Madsen has batted very nicely.

He's up to 35 and if Derbyshire want to burgle a victory, he'll need to score the majority of the 151 runs still required.

Northants are doing everything they can to stop him from getting the strike, offering him singles everywhere.

  20. 50 runs

50 for Sam Robsonpublished at 17:05 British Summer Time 11 September

    Middlesex 377 & 87-1 v Gloucs 309-9 dec

    Sam RobsonImage source, Rex Features

That's his fourth 50 of a very good season in which he also has three centuries.

He's batted with real class and authority in a game Middlesex need to win to keep the pressure on promotion rivals Yorkshire.

He gets to 50 with a glance to square leg on the front foot off spinner Zafar Gohar.

    53 balls with six fours.

He's put on a 50 (and counting) stand with Max Holden for the second wicket in just 38 balls. 38!
