  1. Lunch at Derbypublished at 13:05 British Summer Time 23 May

    Derbyshire 106-1 v Kent

Very much Derbyshire's morning after choosing to bat first despite the loss of David Lloyd for 50 six overs before the interval.

The normally free-flowing Caleb Jewell has reined himself in and has 34 not out from 75 balls so far.

Kent have only tried four bowlers so far, with Nathan Gilchrist the only one to taste success when he had Lloyd leg-before.

  2. Lunch at The Ovalpublished at 13:03 British Summer Time 23 May

    Surrey v Essex 103-4

    A session of two halves.

Essex made a positive start after being put in by Surrey, who picked a team including six seamers - five of whom have been in action this morning.

The visitors reached 88-1 following an opening stand of 50 between Dean Elgar and Paul Walter, but then lost three wickets for seven runs as the home side hit back.

Michael Pepper and Matt Critchley will resume on eight and three respectively, with a big job to do if Essex are to post a decent first innings total.

    Durham 96-3 v Somerset

Last ball of the session sees a very good shout from Craig Overton's bowling.

Replays showing it might have been umpire's call just clipping the leg stump, but no more than that.

  4. Lunch at Chester le Streetpublished at 13:02 British Summer Time 23 May

    Durham 96-3 v Somerset

Both sides will be quite pleased with their morning's work after a competitive two hours.

Alex Lees would have had his mind full of possibilities after winning the toss and batting first after his side piled up more than 1,000 runs in the last two first innings.

But seconds after taking guard he heard the clatter of his stumps as his shuffle forward to the first ball of the match from Matt Henry took his inside edge and went on to his off pole.

Emilio Gay and Ben McKinney's watchful stand of 64 repaired that early damage but first McKinney (30) then Gay, dropped twice on his way to 41, perished as Somerset seized back the momentum.

  5. Only one Ollie Robinson in this roundpublished at 13:01 British Summer Time 23 May

    Hants 93-4 v Sussex

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

With his previous injury issues and a lot of cricket to come and Ollie Robinson having played at Taunton in the last round, he rotates out for this one.

Ari Karvelas and Henry Crocombe have come in.

  6. Postpublished at 27.3 overs

    Surrey v Essex 103-4

Michael Pepper is under way with consecutive off-side boundaries off Nathan Smith - one front foot, one back.

He misjudges the next by shouldering arms and it just misses the off stump as he comes back off the pitch.

  7. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:55 British Summer Time 23 May

    McCann c Hill b Thompson 28 (Yorks v Notts 65-2)

Just before lunch and Yorkshire have some reward for a decent bowling display with the wicket of Freddie McCann.

Jordan Thompson gets one to shape in and leave and the edge goes low to first slip where George Hill just gets enough fingers underneath the ball to snatch it off the deck.

A timely boost ahead of the break for the home side.

  8. Postpublished at 12:52 British Summer Time 23 May

    Durham 88-3 v Somerset

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

A nice safe catch from one of the best fielders in the country in Tom Abell.

See 12.43 entry...no Gay did not make Somerset pay too much for dropping him twice before this third time lucky!

  9. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 27.1 overs

    Westley c Foakes b Smith (20 (Surrey v Essex 95-4)

    A snorter.

Nathan Smith produces one which lifts off the pitch and Tom Westley gloves to Ben Foakes, who takes his third catch of the morning.

Surrey have now taken three wickets for seven runs.

  10. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:52 British Summer Time 23 May

Jennings lbw b van Beek 27 (Leics v Lancs 74-1)

Leicestershire have much needed breakthrough and it is the former skipper Keaton Jennings who is on his way.

  11. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:51 British Summer Time 23 May

    Gay c Abell b Henry 41 (Durham 88-3 v Somerset)

Emilio Gay had been living a slightly charmed life, as well as he's played.

Dropped twice, he's perished when offering a third chance top edging a pull off Matt Henry and finding Tom Abell out behind square in the long grass who's held on well.

    Bit of a present that.

  12. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:49 British Summer Time 23 May

    Shama c Green b Charlesworth 10 (Northamptonshire 57-4 v Gloucestershire)

Aadi Sharma's first knock in first-class cricket is done.

He's rocked back to pull a shortish one from Ben Charlesworth and he's not got it at all, clothing it to Camern Green at mid-wicket.

Gloucestershire's good morning is getting better.

  13. 50 runs

50 for McCann and Slaterpublished at 12:48 British Summer Time 23 May

    Yorks v Notts 59-1

Freddie McCann and Ben Slater took their time initially but they are expanding their repertoire now and have the 50 partnership up.

Slater had an uncomfortable time of it early and was doubled up twice after being hit – he also was dropped off Ben Coad in the 13th over when Notts were 17-1.

But they are going well now after weathering that early storm.

  14. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 25.2 overs

Lloyd lbw Gilchrist 50 (Derbys 99-1 v Kent)

Derbyshire fall short of a century stand for the first wicket as David Lloyd departs. He plays slightly across the line to a full-length ball from Nathan Gilchrist and there isn't any doubt about the decision in the mind of the umpire.

A good innings and Lloyd will be disappointed not to have converted it into a big one.

  15. Postpublished at 24.1 overs

    Surrey v Essex 92-3

    And then there were five.

Surrey call up Tom Lawes for his first bowl of the morning with 20 minutes to go before lunch.

Jamie Overton continues to wait at the back of the queue for his chance.

  16. Will Gay make Somerset pay?published at 12:43 British Summer Time 23 May

    Durham 87-2 v Somerset

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Emilio Gay has been dropped a couple of times.

Most recently on 39 and before that on 20, he is now on 40.

  17. 50 runs

50 for Northantspublished at 12:41 British Summer Time 23 May

    Northamptonshire 52-3 v Gloucestershire

Nice steer off the back foot from James Sales to bring up the home side's half-century.

It's a grind this morning for Northants but there's a bit of cheer as Ben Charlesworth drops short and Sales pounds it away through the covers.

  19. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:37 British Summer Time 23 May

    Gubbins lbw b Carson 18 (Hants 70-4 v Sussex)

A second in five balls for Sussex who are firmly in the ascendancy at the Utilita Bowl.

Jack Carson comes round the wicket to the left hander and Gubbins prods forward but is hit on the front pad and the finger goes up.

It was only the spinner's second ball in his first over and he is delighted as Hampshire start to wobble.

Less delighted when Liam Dawson, on his 200th match for Hampshire, goes 4..6..4 as it finishes with 14 from it.

  20. 50 runs

for David Lloydpublished at 12:37 British Summer Time 23 May

    Derbys 99-0 v Kent

David Lloyd pushes Jake Ball away for a single and completes his second half-century of the summer off 86 balls.

Derbyshire's decision to bat first is looking a sound one at the moment. Kent have now turned to leg-spinner Matt Parkinson, whose first over is a maiden.
