Ollie, feeling sarcastic after yesterday's negativity towards the Test: "I hate to see England hopefuls like James Rew playing county cricket today. How is playing Durham any substitute for playing India? It'll just puff up his confidence and pad his stats with cheap runs."

  2. 150 runs

150 for Durhampublished at 14:29 British Summer Time 23 May

    Durham 157-4 v Somerset

Ollie Robinson and Colin Ackermann are starting to blossom.

With their partnership now reaching 50, they taken the home side's total beyond 150 with some robust strokes.

The pair hit 27 from four overs with four fours and plenty of scampering to put some pressure back on Somerset skipper Lewis Gregory.

Robinson and Ackermann's stand is Durham's second 50-plus effort and has come off 65 balls.

  3. Division Two updatepublished at 14:25 British Summer Time 23 May

Caleb Jewell has moved to his half century for Derbyshire with the hosts 146-1 against Kent.

Middlesex remain on top against Glamorgan at Sophia Gardens but their hosts have consolidated a little since lunch with the score moving to 98-3.

Kiran Carlson and Sam Northeast are the pair standing firm with a 47-run partnership for the fourth wicket

Leicestershire have a third Lancashire wicket to go with Luke Wells and Keaton Jennings and it is a big one with Marcus Harris now joining them in the pavilion.

Wells was a second wicket for Logan van Beek who has 2-26 but it is Ben Green who has bagged the in-form Harris for 10.

Northants are 97-4 in the 39th against Gloucestershire, with James Sales 30 not out and Saif Zaib on 17.

  4. 100 runs

100 up for the Bearspublished at 14:23 British Summer Time 23 May

    Worcestershire v Warwickshire 100-2

The Bears reach their 100 but it's not without alarm in the last over from Matthew Waite.

After being lifted gloriously back over his head for four by Sam Hain, the Pears all-rounder is convinced he's got the England white-ball batter lbw.

It looks a really good shout too. Hain goes back and looks very in front as it hits him as he goes on to his toes.

Maybe height saved him. Maybe slipping down too. Very tight.

Tom Latham releases a bit of tension with a single to bring up the three figures.

Jordan Clark tests Michael Pepper with a short one and the Essex man is equal to it - making clean and powerful contact as he swivels into a pull shot. Four runs from the moment it left the bat.

Given the length of this Durham batting line-up, this game is still evenly poised.

With Sam Cook making his Test debut, we asked you if there some other 'overlooked gems' out there on the county circuit who deserve a chance in international cricket. Here's one opinion.

Tim: "Would genuinely love to know why the England set up continues to ignore Liam Dawson. He’s proven, bats well (and at a good lick). Bashir to put it politely is not the finished article, and nor will he be by the winter. It’s time to change tack."

*Just as Bashir takes a wicket at Trent Bridge......

WICKETpublished at 14:11 British Summer Time 23 May

    Slater b Thompson 52 (Yorks v Notts 102-3)

    And then he's not.

Classic delivery from Jordan Thompson who responds to getting carted for two boundaries as Ben Slater brought up his 50, with a pearler which leaves him off the pitch and kisses the top of off stump.

Just reward for some excellent lines from Thompson (and Yorkshire in general) and the end of a scratchy but brave knock from Slater.

  9. 50 runs

50 for Slaterpublished at 14:11 British Summer Time 23 May

    Yorks v Notts 102-2

Ben Slater will be getting plenty from the five men behind the stumps for Yorkshire but he is giving them nothing in return and that four, flashed past gully, followed by a clip off his legs behind square brings up a battling half century.

He has been battered, bruised and ridden his luck but is still there.

I am interested, the umpire is interested, Critchley has to go.

He enjoyed a dropped catch by Overton at slip earlier on this session, but Essex have now lost their fifth.

Surely that's out? Yes it is

Matt Critchley plays all around a near yorker length delivery from Tom Lawes and the umpire sends him on his way.

Noah Thain comes out to bat with Essex facing real jeopardy - and it doesn't involve Stephen Fry.

    Durham 127-4 v Somerset

Craig Overton's struggled a tad in that last over.

Ollie Robinson has hit three boundaries in four balls to move into the 20s.

Hitting Overton slightly on the up through the covers.

Clattering Overton off the back foot through mid-wicket.

Clipping Overton off his pads sweetly through square leg.

    Stylish.

  13. Postpublished at 35.5 overs

    Surrey v Essex 125-4

Jordan Clark fires one way down the leg side and Ben Foakes takes it clean as a whistle with a dive of which Jordan Pickford would have been proud.

Clark is wayward again later in the over but this time Foakes fumbles - he won't be happy with that - and it costs them a bye.

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

What is happening after lunch? Jamie Overton has dropped two catches and Ben Foakes has let a bye through!

Honestly that is why cricket is such a funny game that we love so much.

It is not very often you see anyone drop two in two, especially a fielder of Overton's calibre.

I'm playing at North Devon CC's Instow ground in the North Devon League this Sunday, I'll have to have a catch up with Mr Overton regarding the difference in catching steeplers in the North Devon wind, to skiers in IPL stadiums in front of thousands, to standard slip chances in the Championship.

  15. Postpublished at 14:01 British Summer Time 23 May

    Worcestershire v Warwickshire 87-2

Sam Hain has been struggling for form this season by his own standards but he's starting to find his touch.

He's just taken Matthew Waite for back-to-back boundaries - the first a glorious back foot whack through the covers, followed by a tickle off his thigh down to the fence as Waite lost his radar a bit.

Hain, whose highest score his season is 43, moves to 19.

  16. 'He has not had much slip catching practice in the IPL.'published at 13:59 British Summer Time 23 May

I nearly caught the ISDN box in the comms box earlier today...just as well it was not Jamie Overton!

Mark Church: Jordan Clark has just walked across and put an arm around Overton, the thing is he had so much time to catch both of them.

Usually he is absolutely brilliant...but he has not had much slip catching practice in the IPL.

  17. Postpublished at 13:59 British Summer Time 23 May

    Yorks v Notts 84-2

Ben Coad is beginning to fizz ever so slightly here as a big inside edge from Ben Slater misses his leg stump.

The arms are folded, the head bowed and the single conceded begrudgingly.

Coad, who has 0-28 from 11 overs, has gone past the outside edge plenty and now he gets the inside and it goes for runs.

  18. 50 runs

for Caleb Jewellpublished at 13:57 British Summer Time 23 May

    Derbys 126-1 v Kent

    Caleb JewellImage source, Rex Features

Caleb Jewell passed 50 in five of his first six innings for Derbyshire.

His first one of this month arrives off 92 balls with a push into the covers off Grant Stewart for two runs.

He raises his bat before walking down the pitch to confer with partner Harry Came.

  19. dropped catch

    Dropped catch(es)published at 33.1 overs

Tom Lawes finds a bit of swing and Matt Critchley edges to first slip, where Jamie Overton fails to hang onto the catch moving to his right.

Jordan Clark starts a new over, Michael Pepper edges and........Overton drops it.

Not the best couple of minutes in the big fast bowler's career.

  20. Postpublished at 13:55 British Summer Time 23 May

    Worcestershire v Warwickshire 72-2

Tom Latham has been given a tough time outside his off stump from round the wicket by Ben Allison so far today but he's served up a gimme for the New Zealander just after lunch.

It's short and wide and the compact Latham isn't going to miss out as he enjoys the extra width and punches it away through cover point for four - his fifth boundary.
