    Surrey 163-4 (Target 315)

    What a morning!

We've had 97 runs for Surrey in that session and four wickets for Notts which doesn't help us in terms of deciding which way this game is going to go.

Notts will feel that's their session after not getting their line and length quite right early on.

We've seen three very good slip catches while the stand between Ollie Pope and Ben Foakes looked to be steadying the Surrey ship.

    Time for a breather...

  2. 'A bit of tension out there now'published at 12:30 BST 18 September

    Surrey 158-4 (Target 315)

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

Surrey must have been happy earlier in the day but that has changed.

It looked like Ollie Pope tried to work that delivery leg side from Lyndon James but got turned around.

    James over the moon.

  3. DERBYSHIRE DRAW WITH GLAMORGANpublished at 12:28 BST 18 September
    Breaking

    Derbyshire 17-0 v Glamorgan 259

The umpires take a look and decided that this weather-affected contest at the County Ground is over.

Derbyshire take 11 points and Glamorgan 9 - taking their overall totals to 164 and 189.

The third-placed home side's promotion hopes are therefore ended as they can only add a maximum of 24 from next week's trip to Kent.

Glamorgan now wait for the result of the match at Old Trafford......

  4. Postpublished at 12:28 BST 18 September

    Somerset 454-8 dec v Hampshire 172 & 76-3

Nick Gubbins races from 11 to 18 in two balls. He has faced 106 balls in a show of true resolution this morning.

Just the over to go until he, and Ben Brown, can get out their bubbles and get some lunch.

  5. Postpublished at 12:28 BST 18 September

    Surrey 158-4 (Target 315)

Surrey have just gone past the halfway mark in this run chase.

    It's tense, it's nervy, it's brilliant!

We'll have one more over before lunch.

What a moment for 18-year-old Sebastian Morgan - his first wicket in Championship cricket.

He whistles one through the defences of Keaton Jennings and leg stump is horizontal very shortly thereafter.

  7. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:20 BST 18 September

    Pope c McCann b James 41 (Surrey 155-4 Target 315)

    Oh HUGE!

Lyndon James has broken this one open for Notts.

Ollie Pope was being positive but he gets an edge and Freddie McCann takes another good one in the slips.

Ryan Patel is in for Surrey.

  8. 'It's a cracking ball from Tongue'published at 12:20 BST 18 September

    Surrey 173 & 155-3 v Notts 231 & 256

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

That's the length! A great delivery from Josh Tongue and it's a good low catch at first slip.

There's not a huge amount Ben Foakes could do there.

He's not done a lot wrong really. It's just a good full length delivery at good pace with a little bit of movement.

    It's a cracking ball!

  9. Looking good for Glamorgan despite no playpublished at 12:19 BST 18 September

    Derbyshire 17-0 v Glamorgan 259

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

The sight of nothing much happening at Derby could be the low-key background for Glamorgan sealing promotion to the top flight (whatever it may be) after 20 years in the second tier.

Further morning rain left water pooling on the covers, with no sign before the lunch interval of the ground staff being asked to start mopping up.

Derbyshire need to make up two more bonus points to keep their faint hopes alive.

Gloucestershire being bowled out without batting points appears to have taken them out of the equation, while Middlesex are under the cosh at Old Trafford, which is virtually certain to rule them out of contention.

That’s what my abacus reckons anyway.

  10. ouch!

Postpublished at 12:17 BST 18 September

    Durham 91-2 v Worcs 591-9 dec

Brett D'Oliveira is into the attack for Worcestershire, but he's done himself a real mischief here.

Having released the first delivery of his spell, he appears to have rolled his ankle in his follow-through and needs treatment.

  11. 150 runs

150 up for Surreypublished at 12:16 BST 18 September

    Surrey 152-3 (Target 315)

Dan Lawrence was on a pair - he gets off it with three runs from his first ball.

    Up comes the Surrey 150.

A few more people have come through the gates, it's making for a good atmosphere.

  12. Postpublished at 12:16 BST 18 September

    Somerset 454-8 dec v Hampshire 172 & 66-3

Good news, there is no rain coming.

How are we so sure? Well the groundstaff are playing concourse cricket by their shed. Some much-looser techniques than Ben Brown and Nick Gubbins.

Jack Leach ended that over with two absolute jaffas, which turned narrowly past the outside edge.

Notts' Josh Tongue celebrates the wicket of Ben FoakesImage source, Get

    Great catch!

Liam Patterson-White put down one he would have expected to catch yesterday but this is very good.

Ben Foakes gets the edge to Josh Tongue and Patterson-White has to lunge forward before the ball dies on him and he gets his fingers under it to hold on.

    Dan Lawrence is in.

  14. Postpublished at 12:11 BST 18 September

    Somerset 454-8 dec v Hampshire 172 & 66-3

Craig Overton's three-over burst is done - 0-6. Back comes Jack Leach.

He will want to bowl predominantly at the right-handed Ben Brown. He gets his wish off the fourth ball of the over, but Brown blocks and leaves his two-ball test.

  15. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:10 BST 18 September

    Bohannon b Roland-Jones 87 (Lancs 223-3 v Middx 211)

After hitting two fours at the start of the over, Josh Bohannon tries to pull one from TRJ which is not short enough for the shot and is cleaned up by the Middlesex seam bowler.

George Bell comes out to bat at number four.

  16. Postpublished at 12:07 BST 18 September

    Somerset 454-8 dec v Hampshire 172 & 65-3

Helmets are the fashion in Taunton right now.

For Craig Overton's pace, there are catchers on either side of the bat, plus a pair of helmet-less slips and a leg-gully.

For Archie Vaughan's spin, five helmets are staring at Ben Brown. Two short legs, a leg slip, a silly point and the keeper. Brown is resolute, before stretching his legs with a safe advancement down the wicket to pick up two runs.

County Ground, HoveImage source, Adrian Harms/BBC Sussex

The groundstaff at Hove have done their stuff.

Play will commence at 1:00pm with 67 overs to be bowled before the end of the game.

An initial batting bonus point is the first order of business for Sussex.

You cannot take your eyes off a single ball.

Dillon Pennington goes between Ben Foakes' bat and pad - there's no touch but Kyle Verreynne drops it and they run a bye.

Ollie Pope clips the next one away for four runs.

A few cheers from the home crowd.

    Keogh run out (Akhter) 6 (Gloucs 241 v Northants 206 & 23-2)

    Chaos.

Rob Keogh drops one into the off side and sets off for a single that isn't there.

Zaman Akhter swoops and throws down the stumps with Keogh miles out of his ground.

    Lancs 210-1 v MIddx 211

Josh Bohannon slashes at a ball from Zafar Gohar and a thick edge flies past the keeper and away for four as Lancashire's total passes 200.

That's more like it, a couple of steps down the pitch and a superb six is stuck over mid-wicket.

A single for Bohannon off Toby Roland-Jones brings up a 100 partnership with Keaton Jennings.
