Ollie Pope dives to avoid being run outImage source, Getty Images

Surrey may be feeling a little more comfortable but there's a reminder from Lyndon James.

It's unplayable from the Notts all rounder as it nips past the edge and Ollie Pope's shrug of the shoulders suggests just that.

Pope then dices with trouble by calling a quick single - the stumps are thrown down by Haseeb Hameed but the Surrey man dives to just make his ground.

It's all happening - has Ben Foakes edged that? There's a noise - not out - looks like bat on pad.

    End of the over...

    Somerset 454-8 dec v Hampshire 172 & 62-3

Ben Brown is flicked on the chest by Craig Overton.

It carries through to James Rew, and there is another Somerset appeal. Umpire Ben Debenham looks very unimpressed.

Brown is hit again, this time on the forearm from a vicious bouncer, to end the over. Make that two bruises from three balls for the Hampshire skipper.

And that's all Somerset have to do. There's an awful lot of time left in the game even though they'd gone over an hour since the last wicket - you just keep plugging away.

For me that's a mistake from Toby Albert, he could have come forward but was playing off the pitch.

    Somerset's patience is rewarded!

Toby Albert had just ended Hampshire's run drought with a pair of back-to-back twos.

But he goes back to Archie Vaughan, misses one that is tossed up and that would have crashed into the stumps.

Can Somerset get on a roll now?

    McManus b Singh Dale 9 (Gloucs 241 v Northants 206 & 19-1)

Ooft, what a delivery that is.

Ajeet Singh Dale angles one in to Lewis McManus, gets it to hold its line and flick the top of off stump.

Mark Alleyne did say Gloucestershire would be playing to win today...

    Surrey 131-2 (Target 315)

It seems a bit early for this but almost every run gets a round of applause from the home crowd.

Is that a sign they're feeling the pressure too?

Four singles are scampered in that Dillon Pennington over which then finishes with a drive for three from Ben Foakes.

    Surrey 125-2 (Target 315)

    Another shout from Dillon Pennington.

This time for lbw against Ollie Pope but there's a big inside edge first.

Pope shows the bat to bowler and umpire - yes we know Ollie, we all saw it...

    Surrey 125-2 (Target 315)

We've seen a couple lift off a length this morning.

Now Lyndon James has one pea-rolling along the floor but it misses everything.

If that had been straight Ollie Pope would now be walking back to pavilion but it wasn't so he isn't.

  10. Postpublished at 11:48 BST 18 September

    Somerset 454-8 dec v Hampshire 172 & 53-2

Craig Overton might not be a spinner but he has continued the trend of maiden overs. That is nine on the bounce and counting.

Hampshire haven't scored a run for well over half an hour at this point. Toby Albert and Nick Gubbins are holding firm.

Josh Bohannon is in aggressive mood today and he pulls Henry Brookes fiercely for six and four to bring up a 48-ball half-century - his fastest in first-class cricket.

He follows that by coming down the track and Smashing Zafar Gohar through mid-on for another boundary.

  12. Postpublished at 11:46 BST 18 September

    Surrey 122-2 (Target 315)

Notts think they've got Ben Foakes.

Dillon Pennington feels he's got the inside edge through to Kyle Verreynne.

Not out is the decision - does look like pad only to be honest - good spot from the umpire.

  13. Postpublished at 11:44 BST 18 September

    Somerset 454-8 dec v Hampshire 172 & 53-2

Craig Overton only bowled two overs in Hampshire's first innings.

It's time for his first in this one and he starts by banging in a bouncer half-way down the track.

There isn't so much bounce in the wicket.

There is some turn but it's slow turn and the odd ball that is taking off.

Somerset will have to work hard here today.

  15. Postpublished at 11:41 BST 18 September

They haven't. The umpire decides there was only contact with the pad.

Lewis Gregory is summoned by the officials for a 'quiet word' about the manner of the appeal.

  20. Postpublished at 11:33 BST 18 September

    Somerset 454-8 dec v Hants 172 & 53-2

When you consider how Toby Albert likes to bat in white-ball cricket, this is a stern test of his defensive technique.

Archie Vaughan switches to round the wicket to the right-hander with two leg slips and a short leg in place.

Albert is beaten by one angled across him to end a maiden over.
