We should point out these conditions have fallen perfectly for England's bowlers. Yes, it has been overcast for most of the day but the cloud is lower and the floodlights on.

Jofra Archer is making full use.

This is the second time Jofra Archer has taken three wickets in the powerplay in an ODI, also doing so against Afghanistan in the Champions Trophy earlier this year.

Good luck playing that as a batter coming out in these conditions!

    Absolute perfection from Jofra Archer.

He's relentless on that length, it's brilliant - and he looks like he's got more in the tank.

  4. SA 7-4published at 5 overs

    Another caught behind?

    No, not on this occasion.

Another bouncer storms past the outside edge of new batter Dewald Brevis and England go up with an appeal.

You can see they're tempted to review just for the fun of it, but decide against it - rightly so.

This is ridiculous. This is such good bowling.

    Jofra Archer's absolutely nailed him.

It just shows the team came together very quickly and didn't quite click, but after a few games together they look good.

England 'all over South Africa' as Archer dismisses Breetzke for four

There'll be no sixth consecutive ODI half-century for Matthew Breetzke!

Jofra Archer's bouncer rears up and skews off the top of the bat as Breetzke ducks away and loops up for Jos Buttler.

Three wickets, three caught-behinds for Archer.

There is some bounce here and both bowlers are extracting it.

It's making it difficult for the South African batters to get into things.

  8. SA 6-3published at 4 overs

Brydon Carse gets a maiden of his own, bowling to Matthew Breetzke.

His fifth balls smashes into the batters pads, but there's a little inside edge in there.

Jofra Archer looks really fit and he's clearly put a lot of work in.

He is an X-factor bowler - he makes it look effortless.

  11. SA 6-3published at 3 overs

Tristan Stubbs is next out of the hutch for South Africa - I imagine he had to scramble for his kit rather rapidly.

The South Africa number five has to pull his bat out of the way of a rapid final delivery from Jofra Archer - the last three of the over were all in the low 90mphs.

A second consecutive wicket maiden for Archer.

    And another!

Ryan Rickelton tentatively prods towards Jofra Archer's delivery and offers another edge to Jos Buttler.

This all unravelling rather quickly for South Africa.

  14. SA 6-2published at 2 overs

    Shot!

Matthew Breetzke comes to the crease in his sixth ODI and immediately punches Jofra Archer through point for the first boundary of the innings.

He's made scores of 50 or more in his first five innings in this format, having made his debut in February, and also made half-centuries in his last six trips to the middle - three ODIs for South Africa and three T20s for Northamptonshire prior to that.

It has got the same tone as the first wicket.

The batter feels the need to try and get a boundary to get that score going, and you feel like you're forcing it already with that many runs to chase.

    Media caption,

Brook takes catch at mid-off to dismiss Mulder for a duck

Wiaan Mulder's stint at number three is not a long one!

He balloons Brydon Carse's delivery high in the air and Harry Brook has an age to step under it at mid-off, taking a simple catch when it does finally drop.

England bowlers in overs 1-10 in ODIs this year:

    • Jofra Archer - 8 wkts @ 16.2, 4.72 economy
    • All others - 10 wkts @ 52.1, 6.27 economy
  18. SA 0-1published at 1 over

Wiaan Mulder comes out at three, promoted a fair way up the order with captain Temba Bavuma unlike to bat after sustaining a calf injury.

He's never batted above five in the South Africa ODI side, most commonly batting at seven.

Jofra Archer welcomes him by sending a bouncer over his head.

That's pressure - you go out there thinking if you get given anything, you need to go after it and hit it to the moon.
