  1. Postpublished at 15:31 British Summer Time 9 September

    Sussex 122 v Hants 226 & 102-7

James Fuller is living a charmed life as he nicks James Coles past the vacant second slip area for four.

He also picks up a four swept square in the same over.

The Hampshire 100 arrives in the 30th over.

The lead passes 200, now worth 206.

  2. Tea at Chelmsfordpublished at 15:28 British Summer Time 9 September

    Essex 196-3 v Durham 333

Essex are 137 behind after another good session.

Dean Elgar is 100* with Matt Critchley on a breezy 24*.

Durham did oust Charlie Allison for 33 to pick up a first bowling point but Essex look set to push for multiple batting points of their own with 32 overs remaining in the day.

  3. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:27 British Summer Time 9 September

    Harrison c Ingram b Crane 30 (Glamorgan 467 v Northants 153-2)

Calvin Harrison plays down the wrong line to a Mason Crane leg break and nicks it low and wide to first slip.

    That turned a bit!

    James Sales will bat next.

  4. 100 runs

for Dean Elgarpublished at 15:27 British Summer Time 9 September

    Essex 195-3 v Durham 333

His ninth in County Championship cricket, his fifth for Essex and his 53rd in first-class cricket.

Sheer class from the 38-year-old former South African Test captain, who had just a couple of streaky fours among his 14 boundaries, and also weighed-in with a rare six.

He brings it up from 169 balls with a three towards the deep cover boundary, two balls before the tea interval.

He's put his side in a strong position to chase bonus points here, and his refreshments will no doubt taste even sweeter...

  5. dropped catch

Fuller dropped on threepublished at 15:26 British Summer Time 9 September

    Sussex 122 v Hants 226 & 94-7

Three fielders on the leg side boundary for James Coles, now bowling to Keith Barker.

    A wicket maiden.

Jack Carson nearly gets James Fuller caught at short leg but that's a very tough chance for Oli Carter, slamming straight in and out again.

Single off the fifth ball and Barker reverse sweeps for four.

  6. 'It's starting to look like hard work to take wickets'published at 15:26 British Summer Time 9 September

    Leics 159-3 v Glos 482 - tea

    Ed Seabourne
Commentator on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

Despite a couple of wickets in that session for Gloucestershire, it's been another one of those sessions like the first two yesterday.

It's starting to look like hard work out there to take wickets. Gloucestershire have stuck at it pretty well but Lewis Hill has once again been an obstacle in the way of Gloucestershire progress.

  7. Play resumes at Tauntonpublished at 89 overs

    Somerset 266-4 v Yorks

They are back out in the middle at Taunton.

No addition yet by Somerset and there are 43 overs left to be bowled providing the rain stays away.

  8. 50 runs

50 for Luke Procterpublished at 15:23 British Summer Time 9 September

    Glamorgan 467 v Northants 142-1

Another fine effort from the Northants captain, who reaches the landmark in 74 balls with five fours and a six.

That fifth four is belted over the head of leg spinner Mason Crane and down the ground.

  9. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:20 British Summer Time 9 September

    Brown c Haines b Coles 30 (Sussex 122 v Hants 226 & 89-7)

Out! Ben Brown tries to scoop the ball over fine leg and he's caught by Tom Haines.

James Coles foxes the Hampshire captain with good guile and flight. He has a barely believable 4-15.

38 overs left tonight but can anybody bat that long here?

Keith Barker joins James Fuller in the middle.

  10. Ackermann strikes with his fourth deliverypublished at 15:18 British Summer Time 9 September

    Essex 186-3 v Durham

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Colin Ackermann was handed the ball and struck with his fourth delivery. He bowled Charlie Allison on 33.

Essex now trail Durham by 146 runs in the sunshine of Chelmsford.

Crucially though, Dean Elgar is still out in the middle and has 93. He got 120* in the bore draw here last season and from that experience Durham will know he is capable of batting all day.

As for Ackermann, who is a part-time spinner, I think he will have a lot of bowling to do today because Durham have only got three seamers in their team.

  11. 'Impressive from Pears seamers'published at 15:18 British Summer Time 9 September

    Worcs 182 v Notts 207

    Frank Watson
    BBC Hereford & Worcester

It's been an impressive performance from the Worcestershire seamers today. They've been fairly miserly as a unit.

It's anybody's game still as long as the weather doesn't interrupt too much.

  12. NOTTS ALL OUT FOR 207 AND TEApublished at 15:17 British Summer Time 9 September

    Worcs 182 v Notts 207

The Pears wrap it up in the 71st over and this game is finely poised.

Josh Tongue drives Matt Waite from the crease and nicks it low to the keeper.

The lead is a slender 25.

    Waite finishes with 2-33.

Tom Taylor has 4-70 and Ben Allison snares 3-41.

Freddie McCann top scored with 56. That's an early tea.

  13. 6 runs

for Matt Critchleypublished at 15:16 British Summer Time 9 September

    Essex 185-3 v Durham 333

Perhaps the straightest shot you'll ever see from Matt Critchley who bends down to wallop Colin Ackermann's off-break back over his head and over the rope beyond him for his first maximum. He has a run-a-ball 15.

Make that 21 from 17 balls after a sweep off Callum Parkinson to the rope.

The follow-on target, which was never particularly likely to be a factor, is in the rear view mirror. Essex trail by 148.

  14. Tea at Grace Roadpublished at 37 overs

    Leics 159-3 v Glos 482

Off-spinner Ollie Price bowls the final over of the afternoon session at Grace Road. Leicestershire negotiate it safely, adding three singles to their total, but are 323 in arrears and a long way from the win which would seal promotion.

Gloucestershire have picked up a couple of wickets in the session, removing Rishi Patel and Ian Holland.

Lewis Hill, though, has batted well, hitting 11 fours in his 58 not out and he has added 73 with Shan Masood, who has 20.

  15. Postpublished at 15:13 British Summer Time 9 September

    Surrey 246 & 50-0 v Warwickshire 248

Rory Burns gets a stroke of luck as he bends the knee to flash a drive outside off from Nathan Gilchrist, only for the edge to fly over the head of Alex Davies.

The final ball of the over is a peach from Gilchrist, a yorker right on off-stump, but Burns manages to jab the bat down and a thick edge flies away past the slips for another four runs.

Burns has 30*, Dom Sibley 16* and Surrey lead by 48.

  16. 'Wickets are falling in clusters'published at 15:12 British Summer Time 9 September

    Sussex 122 v Hants 226 & 80-6

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

A third wicket for James Coles.

Wickets are just falling in clusters and there's another one gone.

It's a disappointing way to get out.

With another 40 overs to be bowled tonight and the way wickets are falling in this game, I think it will be surprising probably if Sussex weren't batting again tonight.

  17. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:11 British Summer Time 9 September

    Fortuin c Simpson b Coles 2 (Sussex 122 v Hants 226 & 80-6)

Third wicket for James Coles in this innings and he gets a strangled catch down the leg side as Bjorn Fortuin tries to work the ball round the corner.

James Fuller is in next and nearly runs himself out attempting a single before being sent back by Ben Brown.

    Absolute chaos reigns supreme.

  18. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:10 British Summer Time 9 September

    Pennington lbw Allison 15 (Worcs 182 v Notts 207-9)

Ben Allison is into his 16th over of the innings.

Full and a bit of width for Dillon Pennington, who drives through cover for four.

Out! Angled in, straightening and beating the forward block.

The Pears are nearly through Notts and the lead is only 25.

Muhammad Abbas is in at 11.

  19. 'What a day's cricket'published at 15:09 British Summer Time 9 September

    Sussex 122 v Hants 226 & 76-5

    Kevan James
    BBC Radio Solent commentator

    What a game, what a day's cricket.

Entertaining, full of action yesterday and we've had a fair share of the same today and a promise of a lot more to come.

  20. Postpublished at 15:08 British Summer Time 9 September

    Essex 167-3 v Durham 333

Nicely played by Matt Critchley, guiding the ball from Matt Potts to the vacant third boundary to pick up his first boundary.

Dean Elgar has nudges his way to 90* at the other end.

83 away from a bonus point. At this scoring rate they'll be looking at 300-odd by stumps, weather permitting.
