    Essex 145-2 v Durham 333

Dean Elgar is up to 14 fours and a six as he reaches 84, just 16 short of a 53rd first class century.

He made a ton against Durham at Chelmsford last September, can he repeat the feat here?

Carter struck at short legpublished at 14:38 British Summer Time 9 September

    Sussex 122 v Hants 226 & 52-3

Jack Carson is coming on and Toby Albert sweeps the ball into the helmet of Oli Carter.

A break in play now for the concussion protocol.

  3. 100 up for Leicestershirepublished at 27.2 overs

    Leics 100-3 v Glos 482

Leicestershire needed 21 points from this game to be certain of promotion. They have two so far but they are a very long way from winning this game.

Their total reaches 100 as Lewis Hill flicks a ball from Josh Shaw down to long leg for a couple of runs. He is 24 not out.

    Verreynne c Allison b Taylor 26 (Worcs 182 v Notts 184-8)

Tom Taylor is driven into the off side by Kyle Verreynne and that brings the scores level.

He repeats the shot for two more for the innings lead.

    Out!

Taylor pushes the ball out wider, driven and nicked to second slip Ben Allison, who tumbles to his right to seize the chance.

Dillon Pennington in the middle now.

  5. Postpublished at 14:33 British Summer Time 9 September

    Surrey 246 & 15-0 v Warwickshire 248

So much for the fast start, sorry Surrey fans.

10-0 after two overs... 15-0 after six with just eight scoring shots.

    They lead by 13.

  6. Postpublished at 14:32 British Summer Time 9 September

    Sussex 122 v Hants 226 & 51-3

Four runs to Ben Brown, driving Sean Hunt through cover and he gets four more driven through point off Ollie Robinson at the other end.

The Hampshire 50 arrives in 17.3 overs via a cut through point by Brown, again off Robinson.

    The lead is now 155.

  7. 6 runs

for Dean Elgarpublished at 14:29 British Summer Time 9 September

    Essex 134-2 v Durham 333

An uncharacteristic shot from Dean Elgar, launching left-arm spinner Callum Parkinson back over his head and over the long-on rope for a six.

The 38-year-old had only previously hit 80 maximums in 465 first class matches.

The ball will need some TLC after that impact.

Elgar moves on to 75* and the Essex deficit is under 200.

  8. Postpublished at 14:29 British Summer Time 9 September

    Worcs 182 v Notts 180-7

Shot! Kyle Verreynne latches on to a full ball from Ethan Brookes and drives through long on for four.

He's on 22. Now Josh Tongue will face Tom Taylor.

He's off the mark with a drive through cover point for two.

Tongue is almost yorked outside off stump by the second ball and a checked drive down the ground off the third passes Taylor for one.

    Two behind.

    Middlesex 163-5 v Derbys 283

Zak Chappell and Wayne MadsenImage source, Rex Features

Zak Chappell is having a good day at the home of cricket and a near half-volley length delivery has Ben Geddes lbw for 13.

The Middlesex batsman was the architect of his own downfall there by playing right across the line. Joe Cracknell has now come out to join Leus du Plooy.

  10. Postpublished at 14:25 British Summer Time 9 September

    Essex 126-2 v Durham 333

Sam Conners strays down the leg side and Dean Elgar needs no invitation to clip off his hips to the fine leg rope to move to 67* - his 12th four.

Charlie Allison times one nicely through square leg to find the fence again later in the over, taking him to 20*

    The deficit is 207.

  11. Postpublished at 14:23 British Summer Time 9 September

    Sussex 122 v Hants 226 & 40-3

Two slips in for Ollie Robinson, but they're out of play for this ball which is leg side and tapped away fine by Toby Albert for four.

    The Hampshire lead is 144.

  12. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 24.3 overs

    Holland lbw M Taylor 17 (Leics 86-3 v Glos 482)

Matt Taylor charges in from round the wicket, strikes Leicestershire skipper Ian Holland on the pad and umpire Paul Baldwin sends him on his way. It looked as thought there could possibly have been an inside edge there, but Holland took no issue with the decision.

Shan Masood comes in at number five for the home side. Quality.

  13. 'Pears sniffing a way back into this game'published at 14:21 British Summer Time 9 September

    Worcs 182 v Notts 173-7

    Frank Watson
    BBC Hereford & Worcester

Suddenly Worcestershire not for the first, second or or even third time are sniffing a way back into this game.

  14. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:19 British Summer Time 9 September

    Patterson-White lbw Taylor 0 (Worcs 182 v Notts 173-7)

Gone! Liam Patterson-White lasts just two balls!

    Superb from Tom Taylor.

Again he angles the ball in. This one straightens and strikes the front pad in front of all three, beating the attempted block from the crease.

Josh Tongue is in now. Notts are still nine behind.

  15. Postpublished at 14:18 British Summer Time 9 September

    Surrey 246 & 10-0 v Warwickshire 248

Much like the first innings, Surrey have made a positive start, as if the match is being played on fast-forward.

Rory Burns pulls Ethan Bamber through square leg for a boundary and Dom Sibley produces a lovely back-foot drive through the covers off Ollie Hannon-Dalby to get the motor running in the opening two overs.

  16. 'Taylor gets it in the right place'published at 14:18 British Summer Time 9 September

    Worcs 182 v Notts 173-6

    Frank Watson
    BBC Hereford & Worcester

Tom Taylor gets it absolutely in the right place, this one just outside off, just nipping away, just the right length so Lyndon James just had to push at it.

A really, really fluent and attractive innings is brought to an end.

The 50 partnership came up and it's the third 50 partnership of the innings but it's been ended.

  17. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:15 British Summer Time 9 September

    James c Roderick b Taylor 35 (Worcs 182 v Notts 173-6)

Great length from Tom Taylor, moving and lifting off the pitch just back of a length and Lyndon James nicks it to the keeper from just outside his off peg.

Could he have left that? Academic now.

    Liam Patterson-White is in next.

  18. Postpublished at 14:15 British Summer Time 9 September

    Worcs 182 v Notts 173-5

The innings deficit is down to 15 and this sixth wicket partnership between Kyle Verreynne and Lyndon James is worth 46.

Ethan Brookes is back on and Verreynne steers the ball to fine leg for one.

James edges the fourth ball just short of a lone first slip attempting a forward defensive.

A leg side half volley is flicked away for four and that's the 50 partnership in 69 balls and the gap is down to nine.

  19. 6 runs

for Charlie Allisonpublished at 14:14 British Summer Time 9 September

    Essex 113-2 v Durham 333

Charlie Allison picks up his first boundary from his 12th ball with a nice on-drive off spinner Callum Parkinson.

It takes Essex into three figures.

Allison's first boundary is followed by a second, a huge six over long-off this time, before a sweep to deep mid-wicket for another four.

14 off the over. The deficit is down to 220.

Dean Elgar has added his ninth and 10th boundaries to move to 59* - efficiency of effort from the evergreen opener.

  20. SURREY SECOND INNINGS BEGINSpublished at 14:09 British Summer Time 9 September

    Surrey 246 & 0-0 v Warwickshire 248

Rory Burns and Dom Sibley will open up for Surrey as they seek to wipe out the two-run deficit and then build a big total.

Ethan Bamber will take the fresh cherry, having been an absolute handful at times in Surrey's first innings.
