    Wayne Mardle
Former World Championship semi-finalist on Sky Sports

Rob Cross was a lot better than Michael van Gerwen in that semi-final.

Van Gerwen was underwhelming again. He's won four nights this year but he's not clicked. He's just not finding his level.

Result: Michael van Gerwen 2-6 Rob Cross

All the stats are in favour of Rob Cross, who shook off that slow start to average 98 with three 180s.

In comparison, Michael van Gerwen averaged 92 with just one maximum.

It was on the doubles that MVG really struggled though. He hit just two of 18 with a highest checkout of 24.

Rob Cross is through to only his second final of the season - and a first since week five!

He won the first couple of legs without playing at all well but warmed to his task and fully deserved the victory in the end.

An 82 checkout gets the job done and keeps his very slim hopes of making the top four alive.

As for Michael van Gerwen, he just wasn't at it and misses the chance to put more distance between himself and Michael Smith in fifth.

  4. Cross takes out 121!published at 22:05 British Summer Time 25 April

Michael van Gerwen 2-5 Rob Cross

    Excellent from Rob Cross.

A pair of 140s put him in complete control of the leg and he finishes it in style with 121 out finished off with a double 18.

Michael van Gerwen needs a Luke Littler-style comeback if he is to make the final.

  8. Cross holdspublished at 22:01 British Summer Time 25 April

Michael van Gerwen 2-3 Rob Cross

    Comfortable for Rob Cross.

Neither player is playing particularly brilliantly but Cross is well on top in this leg and tops wraps it up for him.

  9. MVG levels it uppublished at 22:00 British Summer Time 25 April

Michael van Gerwen 2-2 Rob Cross

Quickly as he fell 2-0 behind, Michael van Gerwen is back to 2-2.

Much better from the Dutchman this time.

He still needs three darts to hit a double but he finds the double 12 and we're all square.

Possibly Rob Cross' best leg of the match but this is the one he loses!

He hits the outer bull to narrowly misses out on the big fish then misses two darts at double eight.

Michael van Gerwen missed doubles of his own, plenty of them, before eventually finding double one to get up and running.

  11. Postpublished at 21:55 British Summer Time 25 April

Michael van Gerwen 0-2 Rob Cross

Rob Cross is two legs up and I'm not sure even he is quite sure how!?

Michael van Gerwen misses SEVEN darts to win the leg and Cross is able to hit double 20 at the third attempt to steal it.

    They all count...

That is clinical from Rob Cross.

Michael van Gerwen 0-1 Rob Cross

An early chance to break for Michael van Gerwen but two darts at double 16 miss the mark.

Rob Cross punishes the error with a double 16 of his own.

Michael van Gerwen v Rob Cross

Shaven-headed Dutchman seem to be all the rage in Liverpool at the moment.

If Arne Slot has thousands chanting his name the way Michael van Gerwen has just had then things will have gone quite well for him (should he actually get the Liverpool job, of course)...

Luke Littler is through to the final but it's time to find out his opponent.

The second semi-final sees seven-time Premier League champion Michael van Gerwen, on his 35th birthday, take on Rob Cross.

  18. Postpublished at 21:42 British Summer Time 25 April

Result: Luke Littler 6-5 Nathan Aspinall

I'm not sure the numbers tell you quite how good a match that was.

One that does stand out, though, is six - SIX! - 180s for Luke Littler in 11 legs!

Nathan Aspinall got a couple and had eight 140s as well.

Crucially, Littler edged it on the doubles with a checkout percentage of 42.9 to Aspinall's 31.3%.

Stunning comeback from Luke Littler as he rallies from 5-2 down to win!

Some fantastic darts from both players and Nathan Aspinall had a dart at the bull in the deciding leg to win. Five match darts missed their mark for The Asp.

Littler needed just one. Tops hit and he is through to his fifth Premier League weekly final.

Luke Littler is really ramped up, isn't he? He's enjoying it. I've never seen anyone be more pumped than Nathan Aspinall.
