It's third versus fourth in tonight's curtain raiser as Gerwyn Price faces Michael van Gerwen in an intriguing first match of the night.

Price is a weekly winner already this season after tasting success in Dublin in week three, while MVG made the semis in the first three weeks but lost a nailbiter against Rob Cross last week.

This is the first meeting between the two this season but they're usually involved in high-quality contests.

This should be a nice start to the night.

World number one Luke Humphries has separated himself from the pack with weekly wins in Belfast and Exeter already seeing him open up a seven-point gap at the top of the table.

The 30-year-old also enjoyed a first Premier League win over Luke Littler in last week's final, but he's trying not to get ahead of himself as he powers away to what looks a certain top four finish.

“To be on 15 points after four nights is fantastic, but there’s still a long way to go,” claimed Humphries.

“I’m really looking forward to the rest of the season, but I’m going to make sure I don’t relax and think I’m almost there, because that is when it starts to affect you.

“I can take great confidence from last week, but I have to keep working hard to try and pick up those nightly wins!”

That's a whole lot of maximums for Luke Littler after just four weeks of action. The 18-year-old's scoring remains incredible.

Just two players averaging over 100 so far in the Premier League, and no surprise to see Luke Littler leading the way.

The Nuke is joined by Michael van Gerwen who is only just above a ton for his tournament average.

Poor old Stephen Bunting has the fourth best average in the competition but is yet to win a single game...

Luke Littler warmed up for tonight's Premier League with a brilliant victory at the UK Open in Minehead over the weekend - clinching the trophy with an emphatic 11-2 victory over James Wade in the final.

The 18-year-old added another major to his collection as he blew away 41-year-old Wade - who put out Luke Humphries in a controversial and thrilling quarter-final.

The Warrington teenager pocketed the £110,000 top prize and a fifth major victory already in his young career - so will again be the man to beat in Brighton.

"I had a job to do, I just wanted to pick up the trophy and it's one I can tick off the list now," Littler told ITV4.

"It's one I've wanted to win. It's my third time here, I came here two years ago as a 16-year-old, last year I was in the quarter-final and now I've gone two better this year to win it."

A second Premier League win of the season and a first against Luke Littler in seven attempts capped a perfect week for Luke Humphries in Exeter.

Littler averaged 112 and 109 in his first two games - and bagged a record 10 180s in his opener against Stephen Bunting despite suffering from a cold.

Perhaps the illness caught up with him in the final as he dropped away below that level to lose to Humphries, who was steady enough but managed to up his game just at the right times throughout his matches.

Two nightly wins and three finals for Luke Humphries sees him top the Premier League table and already he has a healthy lead over Luke Littler in second place but seven points adrift.

Poor old Stephen Bunting is already getting slightly detatched from the pack so needs to get that first win as soon as possible.

  11. How does the Premier League darts work?published at 19:03 Greenwich Mean Time 6 March

Every Thursday, the eight players go head-to-head in a straight knockout tournament. So, each player will be entered at the quarter-final stage, before moving to the semi-finals and then a final.

These matches are all played over the best of 11 legs (or games of darts).

Players take home points from each of these rounds. The winner of the night gets five points, the runner-up three points, and each semi-finalist wins two points.

All eight players are re-entered into the tournament for the next round on the following Thursday.

The players will meet each other once at the quarter-final stage from weeks one to seven, and then again in weeks nine to 15. The matches in weeks eight and 16 will be played based on position in the league at that point.

The four players at the top of the table by the end of night 16 qualify for the final play-offs, which take place on Thursday, 29 May.

The semi-finals of the play-offs are played over 19 legs, while the winner is crowned in a final match played across the best of 21 legs.
