Humphries has time to set himself up three darts at D16. But he misses them all!

Cross however cannot punish him, and at the fifth time of asking Humphries finds his mark to get on the board.

    Humphries 0-0 Cross

Rob Cross opens this match with 180. His form has really been a puzzle this tournament - he has the third highest average, but not a single nightly final.

    Humphries v Cross

A very mixed reception from the Sheffield crowd for Leeds United fan Luke Humphries. All in good spirits though.

For Humphries, tonight is a useful warm-up for next week's finals. For Cross, it is about trying to end an underwhelming campaign on a high.

  7. Cross aims to break his duckpublished at 20:13 British Summer Time 22 May

    Humphries v Cross

Rob Cross is already eliminated, and is one of two players - alongside Michael van Gerwen - yet to claim a night win so far in this Premier League.

Indeed, Voltage is the only player in this year’s roadshow yet to even feature in a nightly final.

Luke Humphries meanwhile has secured three nightly titles in Belfast, Exeter and Leeds, and would like to add a fourth in Sheffield.

The world number will finish the league phase in second position, whatever happens tonight.

VoiceOfTheMysterons on X: I like Michael van Gerwen a lot, OK, of course he bigs himself up when he wins, but he's always first in the queue when it comes to saying that he's not been good enough when he loses.

Well, we might as well call it a night, yeah? The top four are sorted, so see you back next week for London?

Oh... no I'm hearing from Frank that we have to "do our jobs". Kuh.

There's plenty of darts to come, and potentially some thrilling encounters. Not least in the first semi, where Nathan Aspinall will play Luke Littler in a potential pre-cursor to those finals.

    Aspinall 6-2 Van Gerwen

It took three darts at the final double, but Nathan Aspinall finds it! It's a dream come true for the man from Stockport, as he reaches the Premier League darts final night for the first time in his career.

Michael van Gerwen, for only the second time in 13 attempts, has failed to make the play-offs.

  15. Postpublished at 20:01 British Summer Time 22 May

    Aspinall 5-2 Van Gerwen

The Asp has hit five doubles out of seven, MVG just two from seven. That could be the decider.

Aspinall would love to break Van Gerwen and get it done here. And he's first to a finish 131 - as Van Gerwen gets a bounceout and is nowhere!

  16. Postpublished at 19:59 British Summer Time 22 May

    Aspinall 5-2 Van Gerwen

After that messy leg six, Van Gerwen opens leg seven with 180. Darts, there's nothing like it.

Nathan Aspinall wants to re-assert himself here, nodding with purpose as he sets up 113.

T20, single 13... TOPS! The O2 is calling.

  17. Postpublished at 19:58 British Summer Time 22 May

    Aspinall 4-2 Van Gerwen

Michael van Gerwen, you would think, simply has to win this leg. He's behind Aspinall in every metric - 3-1 in 180s, while the Stockport player is averaging over 100.

But MVG is nothing if not stubborn, and is on a 102 finish with Aspinall nowhere. It gives him time to set up for three at D8.

The first lands on single 8... then outside D4... then on the single 4!

Aspinall can punish him with 105, but can't.

MVG hits single two, then finally, FINALLY D1. That was excruciating.

  18. Postpublished at 19:55 British Summer Time 22 May

    Aspinall 4-1 Van Gerwen

The first show of emotion in this match comes from Aspinall, as he throws 180 then gives a double fist pump.

He follows it with a 140, then gets to a finish first, 124.

And he's bagged it! Aspinall is on the verge.

    Aspinall 3-1 Van Gerwen

Aspinall opens with 180, Van Gerwen responds with 140. Aspinall hits T20 with his fourth dart, but then two singles.

After both men miss big checkouts, Van Gerwen needs 91 with Aspinall lurking on 12.

And Van Gerwen misses his double! D6 needed for Aspinall... gets it at the second time of asking.
