Once upon a time double 15 was a double no darts player enjoyed. Luke Littler has changed the ladncape on that. You can see young people in the academies going for that.

    Littler 2-0 Bunting

I think Luke Littler could have some fun tonight. And when he has fun, so do those watching.

Stephen Bunting - who lost in the first round on the first eight nights of this season - gets to a finish first this time, but cannot find 133.

So Littler needs 101. And he gets it with ease.

The aim for Stephen Bunting now is to show he is worthy of a place next year.

    Littler 1-0 Bunting

Luke Littler throws first, and sets the tone with a 140. His second visit brings a 180.

I think we can say, yes, Luke Littler has brought his best form again this evening.

He checks out with a single 20 then back to back double 19s. Superb.

An embrace between the competitors, a few warm up darts, and we are ready to get under way.

Reminder that Luke Littler set the 10th highest average in Premier League darts history in that stunning win over Luke Humphries last week. Can he bring that form again to Sheffield?

    Littler v Bunting

Luke Littler did whitewash Stephen Bunting earlier this campaign - the only 6-0 win so far in 2025 - but the last two meetings have been 6-5 thrillers with both men taking a victory.

This might be top v bottom, but it is still anyone's match.

    Here come the players.

Stephen Bunting enters to the best theme song in darts, before Luke Littler makes his entrance.

This should be a real barnstormer to get us started tonight.

  8. Littler eyes points recordpublished at 19:14 British Summer Time 22 May

    Littler v Bunting

Reigning world and Premier League champion Luke Littler is first on the oche in Sheffield, bidding to create another slice of darts history.

Littler confirmed top spot in the league phase for a second consecutive year with a quite remarkable victory over Luke Humphries in Aberdeen last Thursday, averaging 116.

The 18-year-old has already equalled his 40-point haul from 2024, and victory over Bunting would see Littler register a new record points tally.

Bunting meanwhile has been bottom of the standings since week two, but a win or two tonight should see him avoid the wooden spoon.

  10. How does Premier League Darts work?published at 19:12 British Summer Time 22 May

Every Thursday, the eight players go head-to-head in a straight knockout tournament. So, each player will be entered at the quarter-final stage, before moving to the semi-finals and then a final.

These matches are all played over the best of 11 legs (or games of darts).

Players take home points from each of these rounds. The winner of the night gets five points, the runner-up three points, and each semi-finalist wins two points.

All eight players are re-entered into the tournament for the next round on the following Thursday.

The players meet each other once at the quarter-final stage from weeks one to seven, and then again in weeks nine to 15. The matches in weeks eight and 16 are played based on position in the league at that point.

The four players at the top of the table by the end of night 16 qualify for the final play-offs, which take place on Thursday, 29 May.

    Aspinall v Van Gerwen

If he does pull this off, this might be as memorable as it gets for Michael van Gerwen.

  13. 'Too much for van Gerwen'published at 19:09 British Summer Time 22 May

    Aspinall v Van Gerwen

    Mark Webster
Former BDO world champion on Sky Sports

I don't want to play the night down but I think it's too much for Michael van Gerwen. I fully expect Nathan Aspinall, at the end of the evening, to be in the play-offs.

  14. Who needs what?published at 19:07 British Summer Time 22 May

Last week, Nathan Aspinall defeated Michael van Gerwen on his way to claiming a crucial nightly victory in Aberdeen. That saw him establish a four-point lead over the Dutch superstar heading into Night 16.

The pair will renew their rivalry in tonight's second quarter-final. Aspinall knows that a win would confirm his place at the O2 in London next Thursday.

Van Gerwen must clinch his first nightly win of the season to overhaul Aspinall, having suffered back-to-back quarter-final defeats over the last fortnight.

He is without a nightly victory in the Premier League since April 2024.

Elsewhere, Gerwyn Price must match Aspinall's result tonight to secure third place. Luke Litter and Luke Humphries are guaranteed first and second respectively.

Here's how they line up in Sheffield.

Nathan Aspinall v Michael van Gerwen is second up. If Aspinall wins that he joins Luke Littler, Luke Humphries and Gerwyn Price in the play-offs.

If not, he faces a very nervous wait to see if Van Gerwen can triumph on the night and snatch back fourth spot.

Quarter-Finals: Luke Littler v Stephen Bunting; Nathan Aspinall v Michael van Gerwen; Luke Humphries v Rob Cross; Gerwyn Price v Chris Dobey

    Semi-Finals: Littler/Bunting v Aspinall/Van Gerwen; Humphries/Cross v Price/Dobey

    Final: Littler/Bunting/Aspinall/Van Gerwen v Humphries/Cross/Price/Dobey

All matches best of 11 legs

    Here are those all-important standings.

Luke Littler, Luke Humphries and Gerwyn Price are through.

Chris Dobey, Rob Cross and Stephen Bunting are out.

Either Nathan Aspinall or Michael van Gerwen can seal the fourth and final spot in the play-offs - and they meet tonight.

    Tasty.

  18. Welcome!published at 18:59 British Summer Time 22 May

Thank you for joining us this evening for the penultimate evening of the 2025 Premier League Darts.

Night 16 takes place in Sheffield, and is the final round of the league phase. Three of the four spots in the end of season play-offs next week in London have been decided - there is just one more to play for.

It should be a dramatic and exciting night, with the pressure on some players but entirely off others. Let's have some fun.
