Summary

  1. Cross levelspublished at 19:30 Greenwich Mean Time 27 February

    Van Gerwen 2-2 Cross

Emphatic response from Rob Cross with a 13 darter of his own to restore parity - that's pretty hard to stop when you're throwing first!

There's two 134s and a 140 in there that has Cross well ahead of the Dutchman.

  2. Van Gerwen in frontpublished at 19:28 Greenwich Mean Time 27 February

    Van Gerwen 2-1 Cross

A 180 to start for Rob Cross but Michael van Gerwen pulls away with a 140 and 171.

Cross almost pinches it with a 167 that he only needs the Bull to finish off but he's off target, and Van Gerwen can return to hit double 10.

That's another 13-darter for MVG to go in front.

  3. Postpublished at 19:26 Greenwich Mean Time 27 February

    Van Gerwen 1-1 Cross

    Wayne Mardle
Former World Championship semi-finalist on Sky Sports

It was a little bit similar to the opening leg - the player throwing first had a darting debacle.

  4. Break backpublished at 19:26 Greenwich Mean Time 27 February

    Van Gerwen 1-1 Cross

Michael van Gerwen comes roaring back and almost takes out 134 before returning to finish off a 13-darter to break right back and level the match.

  5. Early break for Crosspublished at 19:24 Greenwich Mean Time 27 February

    Van Gerwen 0-1 Cross

Rob Cross grabs an early break thanks to some dodgy scoring from Michael van Gerwen.

Cross almost hits an 11-darter but misses two darts at double 16. He's so far ahead though he can return to finish it off to take the lead - against the darts.

  6. Game on!published at 19:22 Greenwich Mean Time 27 February

    Van Gerwen 0-0 Cross

MVG has the throw in the opening leg as night four gets under way in Exeter.

  7. 'Stats mean nothing'published at 19:20 Greenwich Mean Time 27 February

Rob Cross was apparently unaware of his recent successful record against Michael van Gerwen..

"I didn't know that stat," he told Sky Sports. "That's a great stat but stats mean nothing and it all just comes down to the night and I just have to play well."

No, it's not the Mitchell brothers from Eastenders but rather former world champions Michael van Gerwen and Rob Cross kicking us off tonight with the opening match.

MVG has made the semi-finals in all three nights so far but will hope to at least go one better tonight, while Cross also made the opening night semis but has lost both matches since then.

Voltage has been a livewire against Mighty Mike recently, as he has won five of the last six head-to-heads on the big stage - but with the Dutchman averaging 105, 109 and 99 in his three previous Premier League quarter-finals he'll be tough to beat.

  9. Stat Attack: Top 180 hitterspublished at 19:17 Greenwich Mean Time 27 February

Guess who? Yep, even if he's not winning every week, Luke Littler is still the biggest scorer in darts and the top 180 hitter in the Premier League.

Here's a stat for you though - in his five matches so far Littler has only hit the most 180s once! Quite incredible really given he tops the overall charts, and shows how players are maybe raising their games when they face him.

He's such a heavy scorer that it's no surprise to see Luke Littler top the Premier League averages so far - with Michael van Gerwen the only other player currently recording a ton-plus average for the tournament.

It obviously depends how far you get each week, but a good indicator of form is how many legs players have won in total so far in the Premier League.

    Legs won (legs difference)

    • 32 Gerwyn Price (+6)
    • 28 Michael van Gerwen (0)

  15. How does the Premier League darts work?published at 19:06 Greenwich Mean Time 27 February

Every Thursday, the eight players go head-to-head in a straight knockout tournament. So, each player will be entered at the quarter-final stage, before moving to the semi-finals and then a final.

These matches are all played over the best of 11 legs (or games of darts).

Players take home points from each of these rounds. The winner of the night gets five points, the runner-up three points, and each semi-finalist wins two points.

All eight players are re-entered into the tournament for the next round on the following Thursday.

The players will meet each other once at the quarter-final stage from weeks one to seven, and then again in weeks nine to 15. The matches in weeks eight and 16 will be played based on position in the league at that point.

The four players at the top of the table by the end of night 16 qualify for the final play-offs, which take place on Thursday, 29 May.

The semi-finals of the play-offs are played over 19 legs, while the winner is crowned in a final match played across the best of 21 legs.
