It's top versus bottom to start the night as Luke Littler takes on Stephen Bunting.

While Littler is already pretty much certain of being at the O2 for the play-offs, Bunting requires a miracle to get there.

It should still be a match to enjoy, though, with The Nuke aiming to bounce back after a disappointing quarter-final exit in Liverpool.

Having encouraged the crowd to boo him, Manchester United fan Littler got what he wanted but then threw away a 4-0 lead to lose to Michael van Gerwen.

Fan favourite Bunting also suffered a painful loss at his home event, losing 6-1 to Rob Cross. He'll also want a win to help erase that memory.

  3. How does the Premier League darts work?published at 19:15 British Summer Time 1 May

Every Thursday, the eight players go head-to-head in a straight knockout tournament. So, each player will be entered at the quarter-final stage, before moving to the semi-finals and then a final.

These matches are all played over the best of 11 legs (or games of darts).

Players take home points from each of these rounds. The winner of the night gets five points, the runner-up three points, and each semi-finalist wins two points.

All eight players are re-entered into the tournament for the next round on the following Thursday.

The players will meet each other once at the quarter-final stage from weeks one to seven, and then again in weeks nine to 15. The matches in weeks eight and 16 will be played based on position in the league at that point.

The four players at the top of the table by the end of night 16 qualify for the final play-offs, which take place on Thursday, 29 May.

The semi-finals of the play-offs are played over 19 legs, while the winner is crowned in a final match played across the best of 21 legs.

Luke Littler has made more than his fair share of darts history in his short career, and there is another record up for grabs tonight.

The 18-year-old has four night wins so far - no player has ever achieved five in the current format.

He, Luke Humphries and Michael van Gerwen all won four nights in 2024, while Gerwyn Price, Michael Smith and Jonny Clayton have also achieved the feat since this format was introduced in 2022.

Littler hasn't won since night eight so what better way to get back to winning ways then with a record-breaking triumph?

  6. 'Pressure up and down the table'published at 19:11 British Summer Time 1 May

I can't remember a night when Michael van Gerwen has put two good performances together. He will be bitterly disappointing. He's still got a chance though.

The big game tonight is Gerwyn Price v Luke Humphries. If it goes south for Price he could drop down and there will be pressure.

There is pressure up and down the table. Nobody is safe.

  7. How things standpublished at 19:09 British Summer Time 1 May

Luke Littler still leads the way with Luke Humphries not far behind - and are all but assured to make it to the play-offs.

It looks increasingly like being two from three for the last two spots with Gerwyn Price well-placed in third, three points ahead Nathan Aspinall and Michael van Gerwen.

Rob Cross could still force his way in but the nights are running out fast...

It's Thursday night and that can only mean one thing - it's time for some arrows!

There are just three nights left after this one for players to book their place at finals night on 29 May.

The margin for error gets small with each passing week so everyone needs to be at their very best. The pressure's on and it should make for a brilliant night of darts!
