Aspinall takes out 52 on double 16 to level up at 1-1.

Van Gerwen, with the darts, leaves himself with the big 170 in what would have been some checkout in the opener.

After 105 in the first visit, Van Gerwen finds 25 on his next, but misses two darts at tops.

With Aspinall still a bit behind, Van Gerwen gets another go, taking out double 20 first time to take the lead.

Before a dart was thrown tonight, this quarter-final stood out as being the big one.

While you feel Luke Humphries and Luke Littler will be certain of their places in the top four, less can be said for these two, starting tonight in third and fourth. Michael Smith's quarter-final win tonight also helps neither.

A big game and Van Gerwen will throw first, game on!

Michael van Gerwen's form is a concern. If you're not gaining points sooner rather than later he will find himself in trouble. He's not playing well week after week.

We know, and he knows, that if he clicks though he'll be fine.

Tonight's last quarter-final puts Michael van Gerwen up against Nathan Aspinall.

Mighty Mike started this evening in fourth place, a point behind The Asp, with the winner of this match knowing they will end tonight above the other.

Aspinall has been consistent in quarter-finals recently, winning each of his last four.

In meetings between the two this season, Van Gerwen currently leads 2-0.

Gerwyn Price averaged over 103 in that match but looking at Michael Smith's performance, you would not know he had been in such a challenging match.

Smith averaged 104.45 and both men scored three maximums in a truly excellent contest.

A week ago, Price beat Peter Wright in a quarter-final where neither man deserved to lose and this one was similar.

Smith's checkout percentage of 66.7% was going to take some stopping, by any player, from any era.

Gerwyn Price scored so well in that match, but Bully Boy did not let that faze him one bit.

He finishes off the match with a 62 checkout, going treble 18 and then double four in two darts.

Even though Michael Smith led 4-0 in that match, he knows he's been through a tough match and it is a hard-earned two points for him.

Gerwyn Price had hoped to win four on the spin, but Bully Boy has fended off the Welshman to go back to two legs clear.

It is top-notch from Smith. He checks out 95 with five 19s - a single then two doubles. Really stylish darts on show.

Even though Michael Smith has seen his lead reduced to one leg, he's keeping his head held high. He's got better at that, he used to let his emotions get on top of him.

Price is really kicking on and despite Smith looking virtually flawless when going 4-0 up, Price has hit back and is looking capable of winning this match.

A 101 from Price sets up tops, but Smith almost denies him, missing tops himself on a 110 checkout.

Price returns to get the job done on double 20 and it is 4-3.

It is 4-2 and Price shows the finishing to go with his high scoring.

A 91 is taken out, going 17, double 17, tops.

He loves it and it is a first roar of the night from him.

It hasn't been a bad performance from Gerwyn Price. It has just been his misses have come at the important end of legs.

Price gets that all-important first leg under his belt.

Takes out 50, ending on tops and the comeback is on for the Iceman, who is averaging around 105 so far.

Better from Price against the darts in leg four, starting off with a 180, 140 and then a 134 to leave him on 47 after nine.

Smith almost fights back with a 147 checkout but the third dart is wayward.

After Price misses out on tops to get a leg back, Smith lands a double six to go 4-0 up.

Gerwyn Price could do with at least two points tonight, probably more, but Smith is making that rather difficult for him.

A double 10 attempt that lands in single 15 from Price makes things more awkward.

Smith breaks with one dart at tops to lead 3-0.

Bully Boy has the darts in the second leg and almost takes out 134 in some style.

He goes treble 18, tops and just misses out on a second tops. That would have been sublime.

He returns on the next visit to finish on double 20 with one dart to go 2-0 up.

A chance for Michael Smith to break in the opener on 136 but only gets one of the needed treble 20s.

After Price missed bull to take out 87, Smith returned with double 16 to take the opening leg against the throw.

Last week, this match was a cracker and Gerwyn Price's nine-darter was the first in the Premier League this season.

Both men have a good opportunity to close in on the top four tonight and it feels must-win for both.
